    Alambre de pollo and bistec
    Randi G.

There are several Mexican places in the area to choose from. Some are hits, others are misses. This is most certainly a hit. A quiet, low-key space a bit a way's away from the other eateries. Service was kind and while it took a little long to get our food, it was worth the wait. Everything was hot, fresh and delicious. I ordered the Bistec A La Tampiqueaa, my husband ordered the Alambre Pollo. My steak was wonderful and no sinewy, pieces I sometimes find when i order these steaks. Will most certainly be back!

I like their hot food lunch selection. It's always tasty and fills you up. You can't go wrong their tortas and tacos.

I was deciding between the turkey salad and the Chicken Salad Ciabatta from the lunch specials and asked our server how the chicken salad was, She said it was her favorite and that it was a lot of people's go-to, so I decided to order that. Our food came out pretty quickly. We ordered the Heritage Nachos, Loaded Tater Tot Skillet, Philly Cheesesteak, and the Chicken Salad Ciabatta. The nachos weren't really for me (I didn't love the type of chips used), but the tots were good and my boyfriend liked his cheesesteak. I absolutely loved the chicken salad sandwich and fries. I get a little fixated on foods I like, so I had honestly been craving that sandwich ever since. 3/14 SECOND VISIT: I decided to come back on March 14 specifically hoping to order the chicken salad sandwich again. It was much busier due to St. Patrick's weekend,I was alone, I was seated in a booth in the back. I was given the dinner menu, so I asked the server about the chicken salad sandwich I had previously ordered. She didn't recognize the sandwich but offered to ask the kitchen after I showed her a photo and the menu from my previous visit. Unfortunately she came back and said they couldn't make it. She suggested a grilled chicken sandwich, but I declined since I'm not really a fan of grilled chicken. I ended up ordering the turkey sandwich and asked for a few modifications (no stuffing or cranberry mayo, just regular mayo on a ciabatta). When the food came out, I immediately knew it wasn't turkey. I waited until the server came back and asked her to confirm what meat was on the sandwich. She initially told me it was turkey. After taking it apart & having a few bites I knew it wasn't turkey. I winded up eating the fries and asking for the bill. I decided to show her the inside of the sandwich again and asked her to double check with the kitchen, she returned and confirmed it was actually ham, even though the ticket showed that she ordered turkey. She did offer to remake the sandwich, but it would have taken another 10-15 minutes and at that point I was already over it. I ended up just paying, and leaving. I completely understand that menus change and servers can't memorize every item. I just wish the sandwich had been confirmed with the kitchen sooner when I questioned it the first time. Overall, my first visit was great, and that chicken salad sandwich was honestly amazing. I just wish the second visit had gone a little smoother.

To make matters worse, one person in our group didn't receive his meal until everyone else had already finished eating. The owner stopped by and casually explained that this "sometimes happens on busy days," and offered us drinks for the inconvenience--but we were still charged for them at the end. When we brought this up to our server, she claimed she wasn't aware of the offer, and we ended up paying full price for everything. Overall, it was a frustrating and disappointing experience, with very poor customer service.

It was easy for all of us to walk in and out and the waitress was very sweet and knowledgeable. It was restaurant week which we were in aware of so we were pleasantly surprised as we were able to have a three course meal for not a bad price at all. I had French onion soup to start and I was very happy with my choice as it was very flavorful and had a ton of onions which I love when they leave in all of them when they serve it. My friends had clam chowder and calamari. I had a few calamari and was very happy with how fresh and crispy it was. They gave a nice portion on all three. As for my main course I had a a very nice size steak sandwich that were absolutely delicious. It came with hand cut French fries. I couldn't believe how good it was. I'm usually extremely picky and the steak was so tender and it melted it my mouth. The fries were killer good as well. For desert, I had bread pudding and that was wonderful as well. It came in a cream sauce and I was very happy with what I picked. All in all, I loved my meal and the time spent with my friends that I hadn't seen in almost a year. We had laughs and a very nice conversation and they did not rush us at all. I will definitely be back for some amazing food and a wonderful atmosphere to soak it up with.

We also tried the hummus, but none of us really cared for it. Everyone enjoyed their entrees (tacos, burger, spicy garlic noodles). My husband's spicy garlic noodles were very flavorful. I opted to mix and match tacos and all the flavors were delicious. --I really like when places offer a mix and match situation because I like variety. Though pricy, all of our drinks were on point. The large beer selection was a hit as were the refreshing margaritas. Our server was very friendly. (He did however keep noting things that were listed as spicy were very spicy when no one in our group found anything spicy at all despite the dish title lol, but I guess that's personal preference). The restaurant is definitely on the pricier side so keep that in mind. I would definitely return. The menu offers something for everyone.

She kept the drinks coming, was extremely attentive, and helped our group decide what to order from the menu, which made everything easy for a big party like ours. The food was amazing across the board from the sliders and chicken tenders to the pasta with shiitake mushrooms my wife ordered, which she said was delicious. Overall, it was a five-star experience and a great night out with the family.

We ordered two fish dishes (salmon and swordfish) and they were both delicious. The only thing I didn't really like was the rolls were ice cold and so was the butter. Huevos Rancheros ($19), and Vegetarian Omelette ($19) which was served with home fries and tossed salad was a good portion. Kimbo Coffee ($4.25) was actually pretty good although would've loved it to be warmer. Refills were slow to come. Food was inline with our expectations. Even before the main course, they start you off with a wonderful treat: a tray of bread and sweet raisin biscuits served with butter. Katie's Cottage is a very nice place to visit with a great atmosphere. I really liked the seating arrangement; they have a mix of comfortable padded seats and standard chairs, with larger tables that are very convenient for bigger families. They even have a bar area which adds to the variety of the space. The service was very nice and welcoming. As soon as we walked in, we were instantly served a tray of bread and sweet raisin biscuits with butter, which was a great touch! It is worth noting that the drinks and the food took a mediocre amount of time to come out, so it's a better spot for a relaxed meal. The menu is pretty short for breakfast, but the quality is high. I had the Breakfast Burger (ordered medium) with over-hard eggs, onions, lettuce, and tomatoes. The fries were excellent--perfectly seasoned and nice and crispy. However, be careful with the drink "offer." Although we were told it came with a free Bloody Mary or Mimosa, we ended up being charged for them on the bill even after asking about it. The bathrooms were okay, though they only had cold water when I visited. Overall, it's a pleasant spot, but just be sure to double-check your bill at the end!

However, I'm not one for expensive places if the food isn't outstanding, and also just not the fancy schmancy kind of person. We've been wanting to try this place for awhile and finally got the chance on a Saturday evening. With a view of the Hudson and even the city in the distance, it is a picturesque spot to make memories. The space is well staffed, with many people milling around, and they make you feel well cared for. The menu is a mixture of seafood, steak, and tapas type things. Entrees are about $40-70, appetizers are around $20-30, and the tapas items are $5 but small. They had a few specials, one of which was a $68 steak social with bone marrow filled with cheese and corn, as well as guacamole and aioli sauce; with the caveat that I'm not a big fan of meat, I didn't think this was a special dish but i liked the concept. The flounder was breaded with a well-dressed salad; typically I don't like fried fish and now I remember why and for $46 and a pretty common fish, i want to be wow'ed. The calamari and croquette were fine too. I did enjoy the tiramisu ($15) but it didn't feel like the best ever per se. Yes they had a couple lobster dishes and other seafood like mussels and oysters.
