I chose sweet carrots as my other side. I like meatloaf with ketchup, so asked for no gravy. It was tasty but I probably wouldn't order again. Honestly, it was the only place open on a Monday, or else we would have gone somewhere with better reviews, LOL! I got the country fried steak plate with slaw and green beans. It was not bad at all! And I think I'm pretty snobby! My dad got the double cheeseburger and waffle fries and cleaned his plate. Service was very quick and friendly. Our server was more than happy to give us some suggestions as to the best items on the menu, seeing as how there is a lot to choose from! We are in town for the Grand. We loved this place last year and went three times during our stay. This year we walked in at 8:25 (according to THIER clock) and we refused seating because they were closed. There were 2 prominent signs indicating that the kitchen closed at 8:30. If you, if fact, close at 8:15 or 8:20, then your sign should reflect that. I guess it's time to check out some other Sparta options. read more

I got French toast and I ate three-fourths of my food and then I saw it...it was a long black hair. So I told the person I was eating with and he looked at his plate, didn't see anything and took a bit of his omelet. He picked up another piece and then on his plate another long black hair. I agree with Randall D. Pretty good food for not much money. Hubby had the special, which was salmon on rice pilaf with a side salad and grilled asparagus. I had a Reuben sandwich. Their food is so good! The chicken livers and shrimp are my favorite. My only complaint is that some of the employees don't wear masks and they don't enforce it upon their customers as it is required by state law. However, the employees are very personable and fun to talk to. read more

My family and I tried Lollies for the first time just to try something new and after that experience we decided we won't be going back. All our food was cold by the time it finally got to or table and by the looks of it it was pretty old looking too. I don't think fried chicken is supposed to be grey. We notified the waiter but all he did was shrug his shoulders. I ordered some food last night to be delivered. An order of 20 bone in Buffalo, and an order of 10 bone out honey bbq. My food arrived 15 minutes late and my order was wrong. 2 orders of 10 boneless buffalo. So I call them. The female in charge that they put on the phone seemed annoyed and was pretty rude. I was offered no apology but told a new order would be sent over. Great, right? No. It was 30 minutes later than the time given and my 20 bone in Buffalo obviously had bbq sauce on them and then they must've realized they messed up again so they put some buffalo sauce on top of the BBQ. I didn't even bother to call back again. The one other time I ate there I had a sirloin and it was 80% fat and the Waitress never checked on us again for a refill or even to give us the bill. We ate at Lollies in Sparta, IL; on Friday evening. We were tired & hungry. We got Blue Gill, grilled with broccoli and asparagus. Macaroni & cheese on the side. Water with lemon to drink. The grilled Blue Gill was wonderful. The broccoli was just tender enough to still have a nutritional value & the asparagus was fixed with a peppery seasoning, which set off for a nice taste. I had seen someone getting the Mac & cheese; and it looked good & creamy. They must make their own, just like home. Best macaroni and cheese I've had in years. Creamy, cheesy, and the noodles still have some firmness to them. We also had a Cherry Crisp & Coconut Cream Pie. The Cherry Crisp was interesting, brown crumb topping & just sweet enough, but a tad small. The Coconut Cream Pie, now that was some pie. Very creamy, enough coconut & real glossy meringue, with just a little coconut sprinkled on it. Really good. We were very pleased with the meal. The price was about right for what we recieved. The waitress & manager were right there checking to make sure we had what we wanted & refilled our water several times. They have a very large menu. The breakfast here is good, but it's not hard to mess up breakfast. I've found that the service is actually better when they are busier. Their sweet tea is great. They have a handful of people on their staff that are genuinely nice and caring people.
