Villainous Grounds in Perryville is one of those places where you walk in and immediately wonder if you've stepped into a coffee shop or a comics store and the answer is basically yes because it's both. I spent a few hours working from here this morning and it was a fantastic office for the day. I was warmly greeted by a young lady with elf ears who made a perfect cortado and then I headed upstairs where i was able to work undisturbed for a few hours. Other than coming back down for a refillable mug of their light roads, I cranked out emails and did some Zoom calls without any trouble at all. The service from the elf ear lady and from a man with a killer moustache who might be the owner or the manager was friendly and engaging and welcome. The whole place has that comfortable vible where you feel welcome whether you're grabbing a drink or settling in for a while. Cool little coffee shop here. The barista (possibly the owner) was very personable and knowledgeable. I got an iced breve, no syrup added, for a nice afternoon pick me up. The flavor, which started somewhat weak, got better with time -- perhaps due to the frozen coffee ice cubes. Anyway, this is a solid independent shop. I do recommend. read more

This place is a gem located on the Square in Perryville, Mo. A few times I have bought a cup to go. Today the occasion was that I needed a quiet place to work while waiting for maintenance on my vehicle at a local business. I had the dark roast with the "bottomless cup" option and a cookie. My next cup needed a delicious cinnamon roll. The folks workings there are spectacular. They make you feel welcome. You want these guys to be your friends. The environment is clean, spacious, and a place you want to stay. WiFi was excellent! read more

Driving through Southeast, Missouri, I needed some coffee and a "little something", so I made a stop at Villainous Grounds. Their coffee of the week was White Chocolate Irish Cream, and I could not resist that! It came out hot, but not so hot that I could not drink it, and it was just the right sweetness. Their "little somethings" were a variety of muffins, scones, and cinnamon rolls. Maybe something else, but I stopped his recitation over the phone after he said "cinnamon rolls". Another winner, but next time I will take up their offer of heating it up. At the time I wasn't sure I was going to eat it right away, but I do love some drippy icing! They are still take-out only, and you can either call in your order, which I did, or you can appear outside their door and they will come out to take your order. I was very happy that the young lady who came out with my goodies was wearing a mask! Service was quick, and what I had was good, so give them a try if you're in the area! read more

Villainous Grounds is such an awesome little coffee shop and I'm so happy to see them in downtown instead of our prolific, green and white friends from Seattle. First and foremost, the owners/staff are all super accommodating and friendly. Secondly, if you were into comics as a kid, the upstairs will trigger your innermost childhood nostalgia - so much cool comic book memorabilia and a lot of local art as well! Finally, this is a coffee shop after all, and I have to say, the espresso they pulled for my latte was among the best I've ever had. Although, sadly, we aren't in Perryville very often, I'll definitely be back next time we're in town. Oh, and they don't charge extra for milk substitutes - how awesome is that?! Much better than Starbucks! Coffee tastes great (not burnt) and they have lots of flavoring options, several of which come in sugar free. The staff/owners are friendly and LOVE chatting about comics, but even if you're not into comics the atmosphere is cozy and not too loud or too quiet. The upstairs is what really sets this coffee shop apart from others. Tons of comics and merchandise available for purchase and a small room for gaming or parties themed around Alice in Wonderland. Was looking for a good, local coffee place while driving through the state and came across this one on Yelp. I love coffee and my husband loves comic books so right away this was a win-win. We didn't know what to expect because when we got off the interstate we were in the middle of nowhere. We couldn't envision a coffee shop like this anywhere in the area but after a few turns we came across a very quaint Main Street and there it was. It is a two story building, with the lower story dedicated to coffee and the upper story with rooms of comics and sitting rooms. The staff was super friendly! They also had a bunch of chocolates and other sweet treats and some local jewelry. For the coffee drinks, they have tons of flavors including sugar free Spenda-based flavors (SF Pumpkin Spice!). I got a latte and my family got several comic books. Everybody was happy. Very cool find and way much more personality than Starbucks!! read more

Super cool shop with delicious fair trade organic coffee and delectable truffles. Very affordable as well. We were sorry we couldn't stay longer and play any of the many board games available in the shop. Definitely pop in for a cup if driving through Missouri! read more

I absolutely LOVE Villainous Grounds. The employees offer stellar service every time I come in (which is often). The coffee itself is very good and well sourced. I love that they also offer nitro cold brew, which is very rare amongst other small coffee shops, especially in the area. I always get mine with coffee cubes. They offer many non dairy/ dairy options and don't charge extra as well, which is very rare! They also have smoothies (I like the tropical), notta lattes(I recommend a notta hot chocolate), large selection of Republic Tea, and shakes. The pastries come from a local bakery and are so yummy, I love the blueberry muffin. The chocolates are divine! They have a vast selection of comics, and even manga, which is also available on their website. I truly love this place, you should check it out! read more

I've been coming to Perryville for 2 1/2 years now to visit my boyfriend's mother. Until Villainous Grounds opened there was literally no other coffee shop in town. It is however so quiet in there that you feel like you have to whisper and it makes it seem like they are going out of business. I've never been to a coffee shop without it. I'd been craving a warm drink all day when I checked out Yelp and found this coffee and tea house. I actually hate coffee but I spoke to the cool people inside, described what I liked and that I wanted sugar free with a sweet taste.
