Villainous Grounds in Perryville is one of those places where you walk in and immediately wonder if…read moreyou've stepped into a coffee shop or a comics store and the answer is basically yes because it's both. I spent a few hours working from here this morning and it was a fantastic office for the day. I was warmly greeted by a young lady with elf ears who made a perfect cortado and then I headed upstairs where i was able to work undisturbed for a few hours. Other than coming back down for a refillable mug of their light roads, I cranked out emails and did some Zoom calls without any trouble at all. The service from the elf ear lady and from a man with a killer moustache who might be the owner or the manager was friendly and engaging and welcome. The whole place has that comfortable vible where you feel welcome whether you're grabbing a drink or settling in for a while. I'll definitely pick Villainous Grounds for my caffeine the next time I'm passing through Perryville. [Round number review 800 of 2026 - 531 in Missouri - 25980 overall]

It's mostly a Popeye souvenir shop, with some old collectible items on display (not for sale) as well as an old antique shop attached to it. This is housed in an old opera house where Popeye creator Elzie Segar worked at. His boss inspired the Wimpy character. It's like taking a step back in time while browsing through the old comic book displays, as well as old Popeye toys. The lady who runs the place has even said that she has over 5,000 more items to display but unfortunately the building is not big enough to show them all! (The upstairs are apartments) I bought some magnets and shot glasses (two things I mostly collect when I visit places). I'm sure they have what you're looking for. Just remember - this is the one place in the world that is all things Popeye!
