I mainly come to Ollie's for comics. I was surprised to see that they had so few. I later went to a new location in Orlando and found the same situation. I guess that's normal for a brand new Ollie's. I still managed to make a few good finds, and the rest of the store was like any other Ollie's. Worth coming to every once in a while to see what closeouts they have. I expect the comics will be more full after a few shipments.

In their defense, it was a Sunday afternoon and most things in town were closed -- which is understandable -- but the museum itself was open. I stepped into the gift shop first and immediately felt overwhelmed by the sheer volume of Superman merchandise. Don't get me wrong, I'm a big Superman fan, but most of it felt like stuff I could easily find online. After wandering around the shop for a bit, I honestly lost interest and never even bought a ticket to see the actual museum exhibits. The town itself does have some nice touches -- there are several cool murals and statues scattered around, which were highlights. Unfortunately, the place felt like a bit of a ghost town that day, which made the whole experience fall flat. I'll probably give it another shot during their annual fair or on a weekday when more is open, but it'll be a while before I make the trip back. If you're a huge Superman fan, it might still be worth checking out, but manage your expectations -- especially if visiting on a Sunday afternoon. ----UPDATE---- After the staff reached out, I decided to bump up my review. Their passion for the museum really came through and I appreciated the response. As a huge Superman fan who grew up watching the original Christopher Reeve movies in theaters and collecting the classic TV shows, I expected something a little different. I'll definitely visit again on a weekday -- I'm sure the experience will be much better when I skip the gift shop and go straight into the museum. The gift shop was well stocked, but I personally wasn't looking to add more items to my collection. I mainly wanted to see old props, costumes, and classic collectible from the shows/movies and old toys.

But today, I felt an employee was lurking, watching me look through the racks and I was uncomfortable. A piece of clothing had fallen to the floor near me, that I don't think I dislodged. The employee came right up near me, and hung it back up. I apologized despite not being sure I had done it. They said nothing back me, just gave me a dirty look. At that point I put back the shirt I was planning to pay cash for, and walked away. I glanced over my shoulder and they had already snatched up the shirt and moved it back to what I guess was a better spot. I just smiled as the person glared. Once I finished shopping, I was privileged to be in the checkout line to witness Target employee Chris interacting with the customers ahead of me. He was so professional and friendly, handling each person as if he knew them, issuing a warm smile with every interaction. I saw other Target associates come to him asking when to take their breaks or how to handle a particular issue. Chris quickly answered them without losing track of the task or customer in front of him. When it was my turn in line, I asked him how long he had been in management because he looked so young. To my surprise, he told me that he was not a manager. I wish more people with customer service jobs took the time to engage with those around them, as Chris at Target in Marion, IL, does.
