This neighborhood is sorely lacking a good Mexican restaurant. Sadly, the ones that are really close by produce really bland dishes. Therefore, I did a bigger search and found Lola's Mexican restaurant on Flatbush Avenue. We ordered for delivery and we could not be more pleased. I kept it simple and ordered a grilled chicken quesadilla and a grilled chicken bowl. The bowl came with grilled chicken, rice black beans, lettuce, cheese, guacamole and pico de gallo. The quesadilla is cheese and chicken in a flour tortilla topped with guacamole. Both of these dishes were bursting with flavor and had the perfect amount of heat. The bowl more so than the quesadilla. I will definitely be ordering from Lola's again when I'm craving Mexican food. read more

Omg when can we go again?!!! This has been one of my favorite Mexican restaurants in the city , definitely for Brooklyn though my number 1 and 2 are in Manhattan. Food: 5/5 legit loved everything that I had the meat was well seasoned and everything was nice and fresh, I especially love all the guac and fixings we got on the side absolutely delicious! Come for the aesthetic...and that's about it. Lola's is such a cute addition to Flatbush with colorful decor, providing a great place to take photos for social media and a good place to grab drinks during dinner. I've visited three times, trying to give them a chance at winning me over, but can't find anything stand-out about this restaurant other than the atmosphere. The price is pretty high for the amount of food and quality you get, and the food itself isn't that flavorful. This most recent visit I had opted for the mole enchiladas and there weren't any stand out flavors other than sweet. The staff was the redeeming point, always checking in to see if anything was needed and not rushing you even if closing time was approaching. Being in Brooklyn and having plenty of Mexican restaurants at our disposal, it's really hard for me to justify dining here when I can get better value and stronger flavors elsewhere. read more

Ordered take out from this Mexican restaurant just to compare with other Mexican establishments and even though the food was delivered fast unfortunately the food was subpar especially the guacamole. It is a staple in many Mexican places but the Guac we ordered was too mushy and did not pack enough flavor. However their beef fajitas and the shrimp bowl were ok not great. Mole Enchilada: $17.95 ($19.54 with tax). The chicken was flavorless and very dry. The mole on the chicken had also dried to a powder-like substance, so the mole barely helped the chicken. This place was an amazing and unexpected surprise. We arrived 90 minutes before they closed but they were kind enough to let us in and order. The waiter was very friendly and fun to chat with. With half my party only being able to speak spanish it was a great surprise when the waiter spoke spanish as well. We ordered a few drinks and all got chicken enchiladas de mole. The enchiladas were amazing we did wish that there was more mole sauce on it and the rice a little softer but overall it was really delicious 4.5/5. I didn't enjoy the mango margarita as much 3/5 but the mojito was nice 4/5. The mojito could have used less mint leaves as it felt like a lot. The restaurant itself was nice and fun. Food overall is very good for the price. An appetizer and 2 entree came to $50 (no beverage). Guacamole and chips appetizer rates 6/10 was small and missing the tomatoes onions and jalapeños. Desperately need salt and lime. Carne asada rated 8/10 was sliced very thin but tender and juicy. Rice was cooked perfectly not mushy. It comes with tortillas grilled onions, guacamole, and beans. (I'm not a fan of beans so I ordered without). The Molé rates 8/10. The molè sauce was more on the sweet side, which was not what we expected, and also missing some spice. The seating is limited on the inside but they do offer outside dining. The kitchen closes at 7pm sharp, felt a bit rushed. A few quick things about this spot. Ambiance: Open, spacious and bright. Bathrooms was private and clean which is always a plus. Typical commercial Mexican flair, nothing really stood out. Service: I feel like we had a waiter who just started working with them yesterday! It's like he didn't "get it". Like it's ok to swap salsa for pico de gallo, lemon (the yellow one) is what I wanted with my water not lime. And it's weird to watch us eat while you lean on the bar. But it just had way too much cheese for me, and not enough other filling. Rice was a bit hard. Beans were okay. It's still edible but I pass on eating hard rice. The meal was a nice portion size. Nice selection of alcoholic drinks. Decor: very nice. Quite a pretty place. Servers were great. There is a brunch menu on Saturday and Sundays. I'll come again to try out something else. I enjoyed Lola's Mexican Restaurant. I've visited them about three times and each time I'm satisfied when I have a quick feeling for Mexican food. The service is always God. The staff members are friendly at all times. I usually get tacos or the burrito bowl. I would suggest adding hot sauce to the burrito bowl if you want it spicy. The portions are reasonable and well presented. Their prices aren't too bad. Given they are the only Mexican sit down vibes in that area really, I agree their prices can be what they are. I personally recommend: - ground beef burrito - not explicitly on the menu, but i ordered it over the phone w/ no problems. *Spoiler alert -- it was GREAT! Nicely seasoned, and wrapped with love - the shrimp burrito - the chicken quesadilla (this is a hit w/ my 2-year-old) - the side of yellow rice & black bean (tasty, and the beans are soft enough for my 8-month old) - camarones al ajillo - just enough garlic to have you licking your fingers! Yes I'm a foodie but when it comes to Mexican food it's a little more like foodayyy if you catch my drift lol After a doctors visit and riding pass Lola's a few times in curiosity me and my princess & Mommy decided to have lunch at Lola's I have to say it kept calling me, the good vibes drew us in. I went with a virgin pina colada that was made by David and hands down it was one of the best I've had at a restaurant. It wasn't watery and not too sweet it was actually close to perfect I loved the mint leaf to top it off. Aesthetically Pleasing: The entire restaurant from outside to inside is definitely instagram worthy. I loved the pic in the back should have taken a pic on saying tequila is like therapy lol... I digress. I loved the service also Ashley was very attentive and nice from the beginning to the end. First time here we were in the area it was Easter. I found it on yelp and we love Mexican food we figured we give it a shot. Place is small and quaint . We are a family of four. Two adults two kids ages 7&11. The awning and outside is so cute & aesthetic. They say us down right away on the side the bench had pillows my daughters loved that. Then there was one chair and clearly she saw four of us , I had to ask for a chair . It was kinda of warm in there and the windows are big so the sun was really feeling hot no air conditioning was on. We ordered a margarita pitcher and guacamole with chips to start. How is it possible that a deep fried chimichanga comes out cold? A deep fried anything for that matter.Steak inside was flavorless and cold cheese inside was also to my surprise flavorless hard and cold. The outer shell was Luke warm and limp like a day old egg roll. (Day old cold egg rolls are horrible even when you're drunk) Absolutely disgusting. I've ordered delivery a few times but decided to sit at the restaurant for lunch on this particular day. The interior is decorated beautifully. I ordered a hibiscus drink. It was good however it tasted as if it started to ferment slightly. I ordered the chicken quesadilla which I know to be good and it was yummy as always. I ordered churros for dessert. I'm a huge fan of churros. The texture on these were great crispy exterior chewy interior but the churro dough itself was bland. They cinnamon sugar only does so much when the dough itself was lacking in flavor. I was finished eating and waited for my check without being checked on for about 45 minutes before just giving up and going to the register to ask for it. Hubby and I just moved into the neighborhood. We were happy to see a cute trendy Mexican restaurant. That's all it is cute and trendy. Ordered the guacamole and chips to start. Definitely no flavor very bland. It tasted like a straight up avocado off the tree. The chips were funky stale. I forced myself to eat out of hunger. We didn't even finish it off. Love this new restaurant that's super close to where I live! Only a few stops on the bus or 8 minutes driving! The place is so damn cute! Whoever did the interior design for the place deserves all the money. It definitely caught my eye one day as i was headed home from Lighting Palace, which is down the block. I came here with a friend and had the best time! The ambience was perfect! Full of colors and very festive! The margaritas were delicious. I had one passion fruit and one mango. I thoroughly enjoyed the both of 'em! For our meals, I had the shrimp bowl and my friend had salmon on a bed of greens (to sub for rice). We both enjoyed! Stopped by with the family to the recently opened authentic local Mexican restaurant. Very impressed in every way. I believe this is their 2nd location. They have the original location in the Wall Street area so they really know what they are doing. First the staff. They were all welcoming and attentive. Took the orders right away and the food came out pretty quickly. The layout of the seating area is a bit awkward because it's on a corner triangular lot. That being said, the owners did a great job maximizing the space to be functional. The seating and the furniture are also simple yet functional. Most of all, everything is very clean! Now for the food: We had the steak bowl , fish tacos and steak tacos. Large portions and nice authentic flavor. Real homemade taste using fresh ingredients. Can't beat that.
