Vivian is one of the BEST hairstylists I've ever seen. I love her work and her personality. I followed her from another salon and I'm so glad that I did so. She does hair color and haircut for me and haircut for my boyfriend (and he's hooked too). She takes her time to talk with me and provide as much consulting tips as needed. I have fine and frizzy hair and with her help I now enjoy having shiny voluminous hair with defined curls. During each visit she shares helpful tips about new products that would benefit me and also tips about how to do my hair at home. Unlike most salons, this place knows how to care for curly hair (eg, how to wash it without it ending up a tangled mess) and the best products to use for curly hair. If you have curly hair, you know what I'm talking about. Curly hair is dry, brittle, and easily damaged...and most salons tend to do what works for straight hair. I've definitely had a salon tangle my hair into a mess while washing and then try to rip through it with a brush. Not here. The owner and stylists are incredibly friendly and professional...and the salon has an upbeat vibe in a cool modern space. Overall, I was happy with the service here...unfortunately, it's a bit far from where I live. One thing that bothered me was that I had asked what was involved when the stylist suggested a particular service and I was told foils would be used. I agreed to the service and several minutes later she was painting my hair sans foil...The main drawback with not using foils is that the color that was painted in portions of my hair wasn't separated from the rest of my hair - or the chair I was sitting in. When I automatically leaned back into the chair, the color, which was only applied in pieces of my hair, effectively smeared across the entire back of my hair (and the chair) because there was nothing separating those portions from the rest of my hair (and the chair). My hair is curly so luckily it wasn't a big deal - you really couldn't tell visually. I was generally happy with the results - maybe slightly darker than I had expected but still looked great - and the stylists go out of the way to make sure that you're happy. This is a great salon but I think that the fact that the service was performed differently than what was described several minutes prior was strange and I really didn't know what to make of it. read more

Love Lola! I've only had cuts by Sarah, but everyone on the team seems like they know exactly what they're doing and I've seen some fabulous fancy cuts and colors out of the chairs next to me. I'm a can't-be-bothered-to-even-comb-my-hair type of person, so I really appreciate that Sarah takes the time to make sure my layers look perfect and will grow out nicely instead of terribly shaggy. Last Saturday, me and my husband drove around the area to check some salons. I am very picky when it comes to who will cut my hair as I got traumatized by the last hairstylist I went to. My husband and I have decided to get some bagel. Fortunately, right near the bagel place is Lola's Salon. I am hesitant at first because it looks new. But I went and asked the receptionist. She showed me the rates. Surprisingly, out of all the salons I went to and talked to, Lola have the most reasonable price. I am walk-in and fortunate enough to see and talked to the stylish directly who is Vivian. She is very sweet, very smart, very kind and have a very good sense of humor. I looovvvee her. She took away the worries that I have having my hair cut after a long time of waiting. My hair length is way pass my waist, it's long....but Vivian gave me a fixed price. One thing I love about Lola salon. After Vivian cut my hair and saw the result, I almost cried (didn't want to show it to her) :) but I love it. She will be my hairstylist from now on. Wow. Just wow. I went to Lola Salon knowing only that my hair was a wreck and I needed help. I wasn't sure what to do, though. Should I shave off all my sad, dead hair? Dye it to match my roots? Wear a hat or bandana everywhere until my hair returned to life? I sat down and essentially turned my look over to Laura and Sarah. They tossed around a few ideas; I said, "I will walk out of here happy with whatever y'all decide to do;" and they went to town on my head. I enjoyed my entire 3.5 hours in the salon - I felt relaxed, nurtured, pampered, and like my experience mattered to everyone in the salon. I went to Lola's for the first time last weekend - just fantastic. I had previously had a light blond balayage on my hair, but hadn't had anything done since March. I didn't have high hopes that much could be done to improve the state of my hair, so I wasn't expecting more than a clean-up. Liz took a look at my hair and asked some great questions about it and then suggested a totally different course with my color and cut. I was ready for a change, so I said, "let's do it." I've been going to Vivian for a few years now and I love how she cuts my hair. We started with a Deva cut and she's modified it to what works best for my thick, curly hair, which is both wet and dry cuts. I spend very little time on wash days because my hair takes forever to dry, but Vivian takes the time to do everything. She also washes, trims and styles my son's very long, thick hair.
