Loved the ambiance! Parking is a bit complicated and pricey. Perfect place for lunch or for a late night burger craving. We sat at the bar and were taken care by a bar tender who sounded pretty much like Seth Rogan. He helped me pick a beer on draft and then gave us recommendations. We ended up getting the Frita by Kush burger that has guava and bacon. The burger was fantastic. The best part was the guava. This was not guava jam nor marmalade; this was a slice of guava like you would use for a timba. So freaking good. We also loved that they let you mix n' match fries. I ended up getting Cajun fries with sweet potato fries. Fire! Also make sure to ask for their garlic sauce. I went with 3 friends this afternoon. We have all been to all 3 Kush restaurants several times, including this one. Lokal and Cafe Kush are the best IMHO. Three of us had the grassfed Frita with guava jelly, which is our favorite and we can't find it anywhere else. The 4th person had Chicken and Waffles. We all agreed our meals were Delicious! Our drink was Mexican Coke. The service was great and the 90s music was perfect, not too loud. This is a fun place and is casual. Parking is on the street. You can't go wrong with Lokal! I've never had any issues with service at their location but this occasion the waiter forgot to bring one of the guests a cup for water. Had dinner last night at Lokal for my monthly dinner with some friends, which one of them was in the mood for a burger, so why not try a burger joint we've never been too. Unfortunately non of us were hungry enough to have an appetizer, we went straight for the burgers. I went with the "Got shrooms Bgr" because I love mushrooms and it was delicious!!! It comes with Swiss Cheese, bacon, Mushrooms (obviously), onion marmalade,and truffle mayo. I really liked the combo of flavors. You get too choose a side, which I went with the truffle fries. The fries were good as well but I wish it came with more. They were lite on the fries and the waiter failed to inform us there was an extra charge for truffle fries. He included it in the list of sides we can choose from. Not sure if the waiter was new but I feel he didn't know much about the menu and drinks. We asked a few questions and he would get confused with his answers, as well as failing to mention that "for an extra charge you can get truffle fries." Anyways he got the job done. As far as drinks it is mainly beer and wine with just a few cocktails, one which came in a can (the spritz). I went with the home made Vermouth. They have two. The first one I tried has hints of Vanilla, Cinnamon and some other spices I can't remember and I liked it. I also tried the other one which has Lavender, honey and other ingredients but I liked the first one better. My friend ordered a sangria and beer. As far as the burgers my friends ordered, they went with the Lokal and my other friend went with the Miami Heat. They liked their burger but said they've had better. What they really like were the desserts. We order the Key Lime Pie and the Bread Pudding. They were both really good but I'm not a huge fan of bread pudding but this one was delicious!!! As far as the ambiance, to be honest we sat outside and I never went inside so I couldn't comment about the inside, besides, if you don't know coconut grove, it's a nice place to always sit outside weather permitting. The food is def a 5 star but I think the staff is a bit comfortable with the fact that the 20 percent is included so they move slow and sometimes ignore you unless you call them out. Oddly enough, as much time as I spend in the Grove, this was my very first time coming to Lokal. My boyfriend was in town & wanted a good cheeseburger so after checking a few lists & because of my proximity to the area, I chose Lokal. We arrived around 2pm & I was immediately surprised at how empty it was. Regardless we sat down outside & started to look over the menu. I was loving all the kitschy Miami focused decorations, signs & thought their doggie area for water & free doggie treats was adorable. Now on to the food... Menu looked great and I was super torn between 4-5 dishes. We finally settled on the HEIRLOOM TOMATOES (Tomato Cucumbers, Cherry Tomatoes, Croutons, Basil, Danish Blue Cheese, LoKal Vinaigrette) to start, the FARM STYLE CHICKEN SANDWICH (Crispy Chicken, Jack Cheese, Arugula, Avocado, BBQ, Whole Wheat Bun) with a side of their ROASTED CAULIFLOWER BITES for me, while my boyfriend excitedly chose THE CLASSIC (Cheddar Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, White Onions, Pickles, Yellow Mustard, Mayonnaise) with a side of FRIES. Our waitress (& her trainee) were great & super attentive & as the food arrived, we "oohed & awed" at how beautiful everything looked & dug in. Unfortunately, we both had the same opinion... tomatoes were mushy, mealy & not very pleasant, although the flavours were good. My sandwich, while impressive looking, was just ok & not nearly as delicious as I thought it would be. The cauliflower on the side was NOT good & i loooooove cauliflower. The roasted bits were somehow not flavourful at all but they were doused with a greasy chimichurri that totally overpowered everything. Not a fan. My boyfriend said of his burger... "it's good". I don't usually go for a veggie burger, but OMG the veggie burger here is fantastic! Get it "Frita style", with guava, swiss, bacon, and those little potato sticks. Yummmm!!!! I used to get the regular frita burger (also fantastic if you're needing meat), but Lokal grinds all of their beef fresh, and I happened to be there one day when they had run out of beef (not to worry, I've been going for years and this happened only once). They offered to make me the frita on the veggie patty, and it has become my fave! They make their honey mustard in house, so I always double up on the honey mustard, too. Their side options are all great, and I mix it up depending on how healthy (balsamic mushrooms) or not healthy (fries) I want to be. They do have a 50/50 option of doing regular fries and sweet potato fries which is a great option. read more

Everything was average, which is a shame because at one point I thought this was the best burger, but for nearly 50 bucks for a beer, burger, and fries, it wasn't worth it. If I could change one thing about the pickles it would be that we should have ordered 2 orders! I ordered the fidy-fidy burger with sweet potato fries. The aroma of the bacon is throughout the burger but not overwhelming. It adds a depth and smokiness to the burger that others can only hope to achieve. Excellent sweet potato fries...I mean EXCELLENT! I dipped them in the bang bang sauce that came with the fried pickles and folks...we have a winner! My wife ordered the chicken and waffles. The first thing I noticed?? The plating was beautiful and extremely visually enticing. The siracha infused syrup that came with her dish was spicy, sweet, and the perfect balance! The chicken itself had a very interesting batter. It was thick and super crunchy without being weighty with an oil taste. Amazing, she practically licked her plate! Excellent and attentive service, knowledgeable and helpful staff with to menu question. They serve top notch food in a very fun and pleasant outdoor atmosphere. It's sidewalk outdoor seating that they have turned into a little oasis with regular tables and chairs and coffee table type chairs around shorter tables for people to relax and simply enjoy drinks with friends. This is usually a great spot. Let me start with my server, Tati, who despite my disappointment with the food, was amazing. Hands down she made our experience pleasurable. Very attentive and courteous. Now the food. I first noticed a revamping of the menu. Very limited options. We first tried ordering their original draft beers and unfortunately, none were available. It's a shame, since we came for their house draft. No Mames- couldn't really enjoy as it was Luke warm. Apparently there's a problem with refrigeration. Chili- ordered it with cheese on side. Chili was cold and runny. Not safe to eat due to possible temperature abuse. The fries were cold. We eventually called the manager, "Belle," whom we advised of the issue. She stated that fries are made fresh to order. As you can see by the pic, I highly doubt that. We did point out the temperature of the chili was concerning as it was tepid, at best. She stated she would speak with kitchen manager. Overall, based on today's experience.. we won't be back. When we sat we noticed the chairs make a lot of noise the type that gives u a headache, I suggested they put something on the bottom so they can slide more easily. Parking in the area is expensive but we found a parking lot nearby for ony $7 for the day right by the corner on a side street. What used to be one of my favorite local joints has clearly forgotten who to take care of---- their customers. I came here last week with a group of 7 for dinner. All locals grovites. It was early, around 5pm. Only one other patron sitting at the bar. We quickly learned not one of their wines in the menu was available, nor were many of the listed beers. Apparently they are shifting to organic wines, so we followed them into look at options since not one was on a list. The entire wine selection is being stored in a hot, muggy room, not cooled and not refrigerated AS IS REQUIRED to store any wine- organic doesn't change that, My girlfriends and I tasted them and everyone was disgusting. Completely ruined from being stored in the heat. I said I'd buy wine down the street at vineota, since the only choices at LoKaL were completely not drinkable. I purchased 2 bottles for my group of friends, both screw off to make easier, and one of the guys in our group chose an off menu beer- for $25!!! When I sat back down, the server told us her manager is making her charge $30 for corkage! Are you kidding me?!?! Obviously we asked to speak to the manager who was hiding out in the back. When he appeared, he stuck to his position despite that we pointed out we tried to order from the regular selections listed on the menu- none were available. Then we TRIED the options they had, but 100% were soiled from being stored in a hot non-refrigerated room, but he stuck to the $30 PER BOTTLE corkage fee. Well... that is not how you treat loyal customers when it's your establishment that has the issue of not offering customers wine that is drinkable. I've come here for YEARS but I will not return again. Big mistake Locka. You forgot who made you successful. We did- your local customers of many years. Lokal doesn't disappoint- ever. I came here with a friend on December 31, and the service was impeccable. The food was fresh, and it was overall, a good experience. My friends and I were able to sit immediately which is a good sign because sometimes restaurants on New Year's Eve Day can be busy. I would highly recommend that anyone try the beef carpaccio. The greens were fresh. The mustard sauce was tangy and adds to the overall flavor of the dish. The beef carpaccio was also tender. The eggs were also made that the yolk broke off and was a nice addition to the plate. What made the service stand out- our waitress made sure that we always had water on our table. I don't make it to down to Coconut Grove nowadays as I did years ago. But my last trip down there resulted in checking out Lokal for their burgers and was quite impressed. Located on Commodore Plaza by the Grand Avenue side, Lokal offers some tasty burgers in a fashionable interior, specifically a cool-looking phone booth... that may or may not be the same phone booth that transported Bill and Ted through their excellent adventure... or inconspicuously into an ice cream parlor, but I digress. Glancing at their burger menu, I decided on a well-acclaimed option in the Frita by Kush Burger. A burger comprised of grass-fed beef, guava jelly, potato six, bacon, swiss cheese, and LoKal sauce, this burger was a tasty blast of goodness and satisfied my need at that moment. When you do make your way to Lokal, make sure you choose a time that's not during a lunch or dinner rush or during peak socializing hours on the weekend as parking might be a challenge if you don't know where to look. What a fall from grace. I have been going to Lokal since they opened because I live in Coconut Grove. The service was always spectacular and the food amazing. I would wait for more than 30 mins for a table. I went to Lokal about two years ago and the menu was very limited and no one in my party enjoyed the food. I went back today to give this local establishment another chance and it was nothing but disappointing. They were empty yet our server never checked on our table. Another table also had the same experience while we were there and had to complain to the manager. Luckily we were seated in front of the hostess so we could get her attention if we needed something. The french fries were over cooked and the wedge salad was over loaded with onions and no dressing. We spoke to the manager and there was no offer to make anything better to our party or the other party that walked off complaining. I was offered three free chips for drinks, as if that remedies the situation. Why would I go back with the poor service and really bad food when there are so many more options in coconut grove. read more

Everybody I talk to in the grove loves the Lokal, and loves that they are dog friendly. Although, we were able to get seated without a problem and staff was nice the food wasn't as outstanding. I ordered the frita guava burger and it was a huge disappointment. The frita taste like a revuelta burger with three slops of thick guava on top. There was nothing special about it. I would suggest looking into a better frita recipe, specially for an establishment in Miami. I would highly advice on making an in-house guava sauce rather than using packaged guava paste, which is what it tasted like. The gator bites and tomato were good. Been dying to try LOKAL for the longest time and my cravings have finally been satisfied.. This place is just a YASSSS to everything and everyone who works here! Super friendly staff, the food and beer is absolutely delicious so many different flavors. They have a burger for everyone and VEGAN OPTIONS as well. They are dog friendly and had out cut treats and have a doggie selection on the menu, very original. The prices are reasonable for the quality and services you are provided. Prices range from appetizers and desserts $8 to the burger meals for $15-16 sooo worth it!!! The only thing I noticed was they charge $1 for water which was okay with me because hey.. it's just $1 but don't know if that's because of COVID or they have always had that. Overall great experiance for my fathers birthday and he loved it! Delicious Frita burger with guava! I don't know how the bread was so soft and the burger so juicy, it was just perfection. The slight sweetness of the guava was also a great touch. There's inside and outside seating, although it's a smaller place, and tons of local draft beer. For the cheap bois like me - Pabst Blue Ribbon / PBR is in the house! I've been here a couple of times with my girlfriend, we love their burgers and fries, haven't had anything else. We've had every burger and our top ones are the Frita Burger and The Classic but they're all good. Our most recent visit we were sat outside because there were no table for two open but it was too hot so the host was able to sit us inside. She was very nice and the best part of the experience. Usually our servers are on top of their game but the kitchen not so much. Our fries game out pretty soft this most recent visit and one time my girlfriend got a very raw burger when she asked for well done. They were kind enough to not charge us for that burger which made up for it. The atmosphere of the place is laid back quirky I'd say. I don't know how else to describe it to be honest I'm sure they have their own way to describe it. Definitely at least go to try the Frita Burger. The cucumbers were also huge. A knife was needed to trim down the huge veggies. Grouper sandwich was ok but not as good as usual. Burgers were also not the usual great burgers... Service was ok. What an incredible experience! We first selected the place due to the casual nature of the promise of a casual vibe of burgers and beers. The "Speakeasy" part would have been fun to participate in, but unfortunately we didn't get to try that. However, the chili appetizer and the rotating Blueberry wheat beer were yummy! Showed up on a Monday at 3pm, myself and my friend. We actually planned to eat somewhere down the street which was closed so we strolled into Lokal. We both haven't been here in quite some time so we were excited. Upon arrival we were the only ones there and were immediately sat and greeted by our server. I'm not sure his name but he was a friendly guy who made us feel welcomed. We got waters right away and ordered our drinks, a cappuccino and a coke along with the alligator bites, ofc. Bites didn't take long and we ordered our entree, he got the blue burger and I got the grouper rueben. I've had the sandwich before from the hole in the wall so I knew I would like it. Shortly after we finished the bites which per usual, didn't disappoint, the entrees came. My friend really enjoyed his burger. I however, wasn't too pleased with the sandwich. It was alright, but they forgot the Swiss cheese and it could have used more thousand island. To say it was as great or even close to the one I've had at hole in the wall would be a lie. I recently ordered the fish Rueben for dinner with the truffle fries. The delivery was quick and I received my sandwich hot and fresh. The rye was crispy on the outside with grilled Cajun fish and slaw and Swiss on the inside. The truffle fries were covered with Parmesan and absolutely delicious. We shared the sides of regular fries and a house salad. Everything was really tasty and filling! Our server, Mia, was friendly and helpful. This is a quaint place with music cassette tapes, video cassettes of old movies like Indiana Jones etc. used as decoration and to prevent bills in. Plus there are logos about legalizing "Kush". They have both indoor and outside seating areas. I do not really like the chairs and tables next to the street, they are not very comfortable. Instead, I love seating in the high tops. They are also dog friendly and even have food options for them. The burgers are great! They also have a couple of sandwich options, last visit I had the tuna salad one and it was so light and refreshing. We also had the black bean dip which was surprisingly really really good.
