a stage with a red curtain and a circular chandelier

The venue was fine overall. The seating is all on one level (if you get someone tall In front of you, viewing the stage is a challenge) and difficult to walk in and out of. With enough drinks, people seemed to mind less and less. The employees were friendly and helpful. The bar was ok... was just happy there was one there! And there were more choices than I expected. I would go again. It was a fun date night!

Outside the auditorium

Went here recently for a concert with a friend and to my surprise it was a nice nostalgic feel the minute you walk into the venue. It almost assimilated the feel of a dorm room hall honestly! All that aside, the acoustics were phenomenal all throughout the hall. Overall, it's a nice venue but may not be everyone's style depending on the event you're hosting. Bonus: the auditorium is located in a great area filled with amazing local restaurants that dazzled. You certainly don't want to miss them!

Sleeping Village is a great spot! I came here for a concert a few weeks ago and it was an awesome…read moretime. The building is pretty unassuming on the outside and looks a lot smaller than it actually is. Once you're in, the main space indoors is a big open bar with some tables/booths and places to sit but also a lot of standing room. There is a big drink menu that is projected onto the wall that is pretty beer heavy, but there are some other options for non beer drinkers! I got a jalapeno ranch water that was really good. There is a large patio space that looks so fun for the summer. The concert venue is in the back. It's pretty small, but perfect for more intimate shows. We had so much fun!! This place really is such a gem, and I can't wait to come back for some drinks on the patio when the weather warms up.

We sat at the bar, because it's my default settings or my AuDHD need for routine. Very attentive bartender who greeted us right as we sat down. I'll be honest. I ordered a gin and tonic. My estimation is that this G&T was 75% tonic. I didn't say anything because I don't know what to say. I also do not like confrontation. The venue itself is fantastic! We were there to see KING MALA. ADORE EVERYTHING ABOUT HERE. My boyfriend sprung for VIP tickets. I have no money but meeting her was amazing. Highly recommend seeing a chow here. Intimate, great sound, and a bar inside who made me an on point G&T!

Updating my earlier review - living way out in the suburbs we don't get into the city to bars…read moreoften. We like Cole's since they have live music from local bands in the back. (In fairness, my son plays there occasionally.) What I didn't know last time I reviewed Cole's was the breadth of their liquor selection. They have a menu of the liquors they stock. I'm a bourbon fan and was absolutely amazed at just how many options offered - including Pappy Van Winkle. Pappy's is a little rich for my tastes, but I did try a sherry casked Angel's Envy - wow. I'm not sure what I'll try next. The bartenders are fantastic. They know their stuff - the varieties they offer and they know how to make any drink you can think of. The area in the back where the band plays is small, but large enough to hold enough people to make it worthwhile for the musicians. And they attract a crowd. There is a small charge to go back to the stage area, but well worth it. As I said earlier, It is kind of a dive bar but don't let that surprise you - the quality if well worth it, and their prices tend to be good.

What a fun little restaurant/bar and venue…read more Parking is a little harder as it is in Chicago and these are neighborhood streets. We went with another couple who miraculously found parking right in front. Had it been warmer out, we could have sat outside for dinner. This bar has been around for decades and they haven't lost their spark yet. I think they're just getting ready for the summer and a lot more fun. We ventured here from the suburbs to see a friend's cousin's band called 76th Street. So we went early, enjoyed some drinks and dinner, and then made our way into the venue in back. Beat Kitchen has a lot of beer options (fir those who like beer) with a mix of mainstream, local brews, and some IPAs. They did have a cider (dry) that didn't interest me, but they had a drink of the night that seemed good and I ordered that. The bartender knew what they were doing as it was delicious. I next ordered the burger, but seriously almost got a salad. They both looked great. However, I saw a burger at another table and that sealed the deal. Perfectly cooked and toppings were fresh. Next we headed into the venue. It was loud, but not too loud. As it filled with concert goers, it got warm. Some couples were making out in front of us and it was awkward. Thankfully security broke em up as, hello, it was awkward! It's a cool place to catch a show and they did accommodate us with some chairs as we are a little older (in our 50s) and the crowd was barely in their 20s. It was a fun night and well worth visiting for food and drinks, even if you are seeing a concert.

"Welcome back." I…read morehesitate. I know with absolute certainty that I have never stepped foot in Chicago. Yet, the bartenders greet us with such a warm and friendly energy that I know with absolute certainly that I have been a regular at this bar for years. Decades. Centuries. I know within my soul that this was my go-to bar in a past life (and hopefully in the next). Just as welcoming as the awesome people are the $1 PBRs and $3 shots of tequila. And of course they hand out free hot dogs every night at midnight, which in my (intoxicated) mind was cemented as the definitive Chicago dog, even if it comes with no toppings whatsoever. And fittingly complementing the amazing energy of the bar is a 10 hour Youtube video of that memed Ukrainian kid dancing at a club playing endlessly on the TVs. Rocking sunglasses and looking like a stud, absolutely grooving without a single care in the world, and effortlessly matching every single song on the bar's playlist. That kid truly embodies the spirit of this bar. No matter what day it is, what time of day it is, or who visits, the bar's energy always works. Vibing to Black Eyed Peas on a Monday night never felt better. Imma be... back one day, rest assured. I genuinely can't wait for the next time I'm greeted with, "Welcome back."
