Updating my earlier review - living way out in the suburbs we don't get into the city to bars often. We like Cole's since they have live music from local bands in the back. (In fairness, my son plays there occasionally.) What I didn't know last time I reviewed Cole's was the breadth of their liquor selection. They have a menu of the liquors they stock. I'm a bourbon fan and was absolutely amazed at just how many options offered - including Pappy Van Winkle. Pappy's is a little rich for my tastes, but I did try a sherry casked Angel's Envy - wow. I'm not sure what I'll try next. The bartenders are fantastic. They know their stuff - the varieties they offer and they know how to make any drink you can think of. The area in the back where the band plays is small, but large enough to hold enough people to make it worthwhile for the musicians. And they attract a crowd. There is a small charge to go back to the stage area, but well worth it. As I said earlier, It is kind of a dive bar but don't let that surprise you - the quality if well worth it, and their prices tend to be good.

Good old dive bar that used to be better but is still okay for a drink or a few. It also has live music but it's not really a great place for being able to hear. Cole's Bar is kind of dirty and nasty but that's a part of the character. On that note there's also a few characters in this bar, mostly intoxicated. The bar also accepts credit cards so it's surprisingly not one of those that are cash only. A good thing about this bar is the location is convenient. It's close to the California Blue Line. The street is hard to find parking on, so coming by train you won't have to worry about it. Also no need to worry about driving drunk. This bar doesn't have food but you can bring in some. Lots of restaurants around it. The drinks and the music are the main things. It's $6 for well drinks. They also have a few specials. It's $6 to get an Old Style and Ten High. The bar has other forms of entertainment such as a pool table. Can be kind of dirty. It's still not that bad though. The drinks are pretty cheap, and while it's not cash only, there's a minimum for cards and there might be a cover for a show or whatever.

Cheap drinks, live music, chill atmosphere. A great place to stop by during a Logan Square / Wicker Park bar crawl. This is what Dive bars should aspire to be like nationwide.

Well hello. Nice to see you. Not that we have the formalities out of the way, I'll give you my two cents. Here's two cents. There ya go. Sorry, sorry, I'll get on with it already. So, I have reviewed Coles previously. It was kind of my home away from home pre-pandemic. Tis a comfy old shoe. Bartenders are always nice and the humans which it attracts are kind of awesome. Every one. It's a bit of a mish mash of 20-26 ish year olds. Some mishy, some mashy. Pool is available if you don't feel like conversing. Beer options are on point. Music is kinda consistently insanely superb. My Dad even likes it here. It might be like the last place in the northern hemisphere where you need to show your vax card. I do not hold this against them. It might just keep out the riff raff. Ok, well here's some photos . Denise U out.

Went briefly on New Years eve. There is no debate about this one dive or not. It's a dive bar! Lack of pretense, didn't seem to be many gentrifiers. Had a Pabst! There was live music the night I was there and no cover.

I'm so glad that I happened upon this place because it's one of the best late night live music spots that you can come across. I'm not sure if there was an established band that was on stage beforehand, but while I was there, it seemed like there were a lot of local acts and just super talented folks who were there jamming on stage. I loved every minute of it. There's a small bar there which I could imagine could get easily packed and overrun during a busy night but overall the drinks were fine. They do have seating areas, low chairs like the speakeasy vibe to enjoy the entertainment, but they also have a lot of space to dance and stand if you need to. I'll be back for sure, but you should also check it out.

I arrived a little after 9 and was greeted with no line. Since I didn't have a reservation, I paid a $10 cover. Walking downstairs, I was immediately impressed with the British décor, lots of IG-worthy spots. Because it was still early, I was able to head straight to the bar for a drink. The bartender mentioned the band would start at 9:30 and that things usually pick up around 10. He also let me know the couches were open seating until reserved groups arrived. The band was fantastic and had people dancing not long after they started. By 11, the place was standing room only. I tapped out around 1 and walked past a long line waiting to get in. I'm happy I trusted ChatGPT's suggestion. The Bassment delivered a fun night with great music, drinks, and energy. I'll definitely visit again.

I walked into the bar area and was trying to grab a drink and it was pretty crowded. Since I don't really drink anymore, a friend bought me a Matcha soda and two of the Monday night specials for three dollars each Overall, the place seemed relatively divey and a little bit dark. I don't really think of this venue somewhere you would take a first date. And the decor was a lot of sharpie doodles in the bathrooms as well as stickers galore. It was a really fun intimate stage. As the first band started, it only got more packed-but the air conditioning was well dispersed and I never overheated. I thought the acoustics were OK in the room, but the bands themselves are relatively loud and their pronunciation was a little difficult to hear the lyrics. I hadn't really heard of the bands that were playing, but when I left around 10:15pm there was a massive line-I think there were still two more bands that were going to play and I'm glad I left when I did!

I got the pepperoni basil slice and my friend got the potato pesto slice. Both were less than mediocre. They weren't fresh; cheese was congealed. The potato itself wasn't cooked enough, the crust was partly oily and soggy. I guess for the cheap price of cheap ingredients it's ok, but I do not recommend. Also, live music isn't supposed to start until 9pm, but the band loudly and consistently starts practicing at 630-7pm and it's so damn loud you can't have a conversation. The band tonight was also just horrible. Not toned and had a lot of very loud squeaky sounds. We didn't stay long after the noise started, but can't imagine it got too much better.

This is a small, intimate avenue in Chicago that hosts concerts, opera, and plays. There really isn't a bad seat in the venue! Ours was on the left side and perfectly angled toward the stage, so we were incredibly close. The box seats up to six people and they even provide water for you, which was a nice touch. The venue also has a bar area and a balcony. For this show, the balcony was general admission. There are four large balcony boxes and two smaller two-person boxes, which would be super cute for a date or going with a friend. The staff were extremely friendly, and parking was surprisingly easy! We found street parking within about five minutes. They do serve food and drinks, though we didn't get any this time. Overall, the show was intimate, fun, and such a great experience.
