What a cute bar! We stopped in around 730 on a weekday. We found there was still happy hour with $8 cocktails for a bit longer and it was also $2 hamms cans! The bartender was so friendly and quick. Very cool old school bar located in Ukrainian Village. It has the charm of a dive bar, but none of the negative dirty aspects. The look makes you feel like you're decades in the past. However it still carries several modern craft beer options, as well as many domestic classics. There's lots of space, it goes back quite a bit, with a few pool tables in the back section. I went with a few friends a while back and we all had a good time. Parking isn't too bad in the area, lots of space on Western or Augusta, or a side street, just double check for permit parking. It's just down the block from Empty Bottle, so could be a good option to pair with there. I'd happily come back here if ever in the area again. read more

Good old classic looking bar. It's not quite a dive bar because while it looks kind of crappy on the outside, it's a lot nicer inside, but still not too fancy though. EZ Inn is an easy place to have fun. Has lots of beers, mostly in bottles and cans. There's also strong cocktails that are stiff. A pretty cool hipster vibe in here. It's bigger than it looks. There's a lot of seating, whether at the bar or in the back at a table. Most people here seem to get the cheap beer. There's something for pretty much everyone. It's about $11 for one of the better cocktails. Long Islands and other easy to drink stuff. Atmosphere changes. This is quiet most days, then on the weekends they may have a DJ and it will get loud. I hosted a party at EZ Inn last night and CANNOT imagine having a better time at any other bar in the city. Isaac and his team behind the bar were so accommodating and the vibes were on point for our retro theme. As our party ended a painting in the back room opened up to reveal a DJ booth... perfect transition to continue the awesome night. TLDR: Retro bar with reasonable prices and a great staff. Perfect neighborhood watering hole. Vibe: 5/5. When you walk inside, it's like you are stepping back in time to the 70-80s. Vintage decor is littered throughout the bar which in itself is worth the visit. Service: 4/5. Bar staff was quick to serve and polite. We came towards closing time and they gave us a 20 minutes heads-up for last call. Other then that, nothing else was noteworthy. Drinks: 4/5. Affordable drinks and a decent selection of cocktails. Being this was our first time in Chicago, we opted for the right of passage Chicago handshakes which includes a shot of Malortt and a Hamm's draft. I'd past this place so many times just thinking it was some hole in the wall, especially with a name like EZ-Inn. When a friend of mine mentioned that he was stopping by and to come hang I was like oh crap, I'm probably going to be kidnapped. I got inside and was totally shocked! The place is lovely and very intimate. It has a modern pub feel to it with awesome music being played. Dogs are also allowed which is great as well. I went with the grapefruit gin and tonic - 7 bucks. Yummy. The beer selection is plentiful as is the whiskey. Plenty of seating space! Plenty of parking! Awesome spot! read more

Its like walking into a time machine in the best way. Light fixtures made by old school brewery's. A great bar design. This place has booths, bar stools, other comfortable seats. Good craft beer selection and they're able to do a handful of classic cocktails as well. I came in on a Sunday and they had 10 oz of Old Style on draft for a $1. Bartender is funny, other patrons are cool. They have a few cocktails on draft and one of the ones I got was a Pina Colada. read more

Later at night, the place gets cramped, loud and energetic--so I visited it before 7 pm on a Saturday night and loved it. The EZ Inn feels old but is beautifully updated and maintained. It looks just a bit like a dive bar, with its old-school "cold beer" coolers, PBR sconce lights, and $6 "threezie" (Old Style, shot of whiskey and bag of Jay's potato chips), but it's extraordinarily clean, very comfortable, and has some terrific beers and drinks. My wife loved her gimlets, and I thought the Old Fashioned was great. The place has a terrific jukebox. The EZ Inn is almost as welcoming as its famous free "hugs and hi-fives." One of my favorite bars in Chicago. Looks like a dive on the outside, but vintage Parisian on the inside. The drink list is great, with everything from tequila and mezcal drinks to PBR to Froze. I came here on Saturday night for my birthday and all my friends had an awesome time. Around 10pm, the painting on the back wall becomes a DJ booth! Music was from every genre and on point. Everything about the EZ Inn screams "dive bar" (well not literally because that would be terrifying). The decor is dark and inviting. A CD jukebox. Classic beer swag decorates the walls. Grab your High Life, PBR, Old Style, etc. here. Even its throwback name. But it's very clean. And you can tell it's been recently remodeled to meticulously look like an old dive bar. It's hard not to love that! The drinks are reasonably priced. There's plenty of house cocktails and the cocktail menu that steers "crafty." There's a picture in the back that they take down to reveal the DJ booth as the night grows long. Then the hard partying starts. And it gets understandably loud (just a heads up) and the people get quite a bit looser. I really enjoyed my visit here and would definitely go back. read more

Checked out this hole in the wall place bear Ukrainian Village. Hipster vibe with a fun atmosphere. Everything from basic beer to some fun cocktails. There's even dancing with a DJ towards the back of the establishment. Overall, averagely priced. Random stroll for a place to find a drink late on Saturday finds you in some very curious places.....I think we obviously stuck out a little from the Ukranian locals but nobody seemed to mind. Two definitions I find of dive bars online: (urban dictionary) 1. A bar that is sleazy, poorly maintained and in overall bad shape The "High Noon Saloon" is a real dive bar. "Whenever it rains, you're bound to be ankle-deep in wastewater." 2. A well-worn, unglamorous bar, often serving a cheap, simple selection of drinks to a regular clientele. The term can describe anything from a comfortable-but-basic neighborhood pub to the nastiest swill-slinging hole. "You don't need to dress up; we're just going to the dive bar down the street. Man, that place is such a dive bar... Don't go in unless you plan to burn your clothes afterwards. " I think the latter applies here: very cheap basic drinks (for someone reason knocking me for a loop later on even though I didn't have much). Interesting decor: ?Polish/ukranian knick knacks, christmas lights everywhere, the Ditka shrine (huh?), Pollock-like art, pool table, bartenders with boob-busting attire, bigger space with tables in the back compared to the others on the strip. Having a nice quiet conversation when suddenly the speaker at my head starting blasting full force, forcing us to the other end of the bar; this happened sporadically; I would say a nice quiet place to grab a drink if not for those speakers! read more

oh hell yah - looks like brosif gets to be the first actual person with an opinion to review this small gem of an establishment. People call me a man with a pretty severe drinking and drug problem. They aren't wrong. These problems however give me the valuable insight of understanding where good places to get shifty around town are. EZ-INN makes the cut. I thank my savior Lucifer, praise the dark lord, that there are bars like this one ready to let me pound liquor and beer at the same time. This place is exactly what every bar should be. Simple, old-feeling (not actually old, like they wanna be old but everything is new and clean and that's great), and easy to get smashed in away from the wife and her mother while they cook and judge me and my life choices. They even have a dj booth in the back and sometimes the bartenders bring their dogs in which serve as a reminder that I should've gotten a dog after college instead of that stupid Mustang that I had to sell. Favorite spot in Chicago, especially cuz it's dog-friendly!

I didn't know what to expect when heading to EZ Inn on a recent visit. The friends I was with referred to it as uber hipster...which it was. But I loved it. From the outside it looks like nothing special - very hole in the wall. The inside takes me to another time. Beautiful woodwork. There is plenty of seating at the bar rail, booths, and a rail on one of the walls. Drinks appear to be cheap AF. I got two tall boy PBRs for $8 - not mad about it. The music and vibe was oooooooober chill, funky, cool. I freaking loved it. You could easily dance the night away or sit down with friends and hang all night. People watching was on point on a Saturday night too. Very wide variety of people. All ages, colors, fashions, etc. I would compare it to Fountain Square if you are familiar with Indy - definitely has that vibe. Can't wait to visit again when in the city! p.s. - I heard the bathrooms are nasty...so don't break that seal!! read more

I came to EZ Inn with a group of friends on Friday night based on a recommendation from a friend of a friend. It's such a fun spot. Drinks are cheap ($6 vodka sodas) and bartenders are friendly. The funky/retro decor and the DJ in the back will make you want to dance. There aren't a ton of other restaurants/bars right around here, so if you're trying to barhop, this place isn't for you. We spent a few hours here though and definitively didn't get bored. They don't serve meals, but at least you can buy a bag of chips at the bar if you're starving. I would pass this recommendation along to more friends of friends! read more

This place is probably my favorite new bar in Chicago. Recently stopped by this place for a friends Birthday, I'd never been before. What a pleasant night. Unlike so many bars where the door guys are giant self important dooshes, the door guy was incredibly friendly and welcomming. Bartenders were awesome. I love dive bars, this is a dive bar but not dirty and nasty. Love how its dimly lit, cool loung like atmosphere to hang out or a great place to dance depending on what your looking for. I'm not a fan of cheap beer, I know hipsters love their cheap beer, not my thing but they also have some great beers on tap, can't beat their prices, love some of their combos a shot and a beer and a bag of chips for $5 or there abouts. The people in the bar ie patrons were incredibly cool too. At so many places people are rude, bump into you, don't say excuse me, I've never met a friendlier group of people, someone bumped you they apologized. Both the patrons and workers were awesome. I had a great time, they play great music, cant say enough about this cool spot. If I lived in the area this would definitely be my neighborhood bar. Great bar... inside it looks like it was frozen in time on June 11, 1976.. but that's what makes it great! They have redone everything but kept it pretty much the same if you know what I mean. The best thing is the "Beer List" on the Old Style sign behind the bar.. I'm Old School Nance! It reminds you of a simpler time when every idiot wasn't sitting at the bar playing with their phones and actually holding a conversation with the bartender or another patron!? Great beer selections and some genius actually put the taps BEHIND the bar where they are supposed to be; not right in your face like most of these new joints! The first thing you'll notice is that mothball smell when you walk in.. then a rather large bar with a spare but cool back room. The lighting is somewhat dark, the music is good & the bartenders are very personable and quick! The patrons range from hipsters to hillbillies and I saw plenty of good looking women lurking around. a low key/underground vibe dive bar. If you dont take the time to look around the neighborhood you would absolutely walk by it. It reminds me of a speakeasy type era environment. they have all sorts of drafts provided, unique ones that i haven't heard to go with it. there's room for a small dance floor, and seating area along the walls. The music varies from 90's hip hop, i guess i would say it's a fresh throwback since most places now mainly play EDM. The bartenders are nice and humorous, dancing along with their choice of music. The crowd is diverse and very hippy as well. Great place to kickback and lounge. read more

Ok, I'm guilty. I'm guilty of not knowing most of the bars around here existed, much less EZ Inn. I would drive through this area DAILY at one point, only stopping, really for Lockdown (during the day mind you). Friday night I told my date, "There's nothing around this area." We park our bikes to explore *MIND BLOWN* We walked into EZ Inn and I immediately dug the decor. It looks like a refurbished neighborhood corner bar from the 70s and 80s where my dad and other working class dudes from the hood would go. It's softly lit, there was music going, but not loud, and there were seats at the bar....score! They have a pretty decent beer list and they have cocktails too. What I liked about this bar was the diverse crowd. Yes you had hipsters, but there was an older couple (in their 50s) next to us that looked to be from the neighborhood. The atmosphere was chill. There was booth style seating in the back, where most tables were taken. The chairs at the bar were comfy and that's where we spent the rest of the night. All in all, really cool vibe at EZ Inn. One awkward moment, was when I went up to the DJ playing, on my way from the bathroom, and commented that I liked that he played one old school Chicago house song. I think he mistook that as me requesting more, and he kinda got snippy with me saying that he needs to play a variety of music and tried shooing me away. WEIRD. From the exterior, this place is just so unassuming with its large Old Style sign. I've driven past it numerous times, but never thought it was anything more than a dive bar or even a liquor store. But recently on a Western bar crawl, I wandered in and was surprised that the bar was filled with a young, lively crowd. They even had a DJ and a large dance floor. They have "Fizzy Booz[ies]" which are fountain drinks. I got the Mezcal Peach Cobbler, which is smokey and strong. I would definitely recommend it! read more

All their bottles of wine are only $25 and the candles + dark wood, cozy booths, pleasant ambiance, and eclectic music selection make for the perfect relaxing weeknight wine down with friends. She did not smile and this place is a small dive bar on western Avenue. These dudes were elderly and drinking hard which at their age can be fatal. Checked this place out last night under the impression that it was a good place to chat with friends in a relaxed environment. I believe the noise level is marked Quiet on Yelp. We arrived at 8 and had to leave by 9:45 - music was so loud we were yelling over it to talk. Def not a place you can hold a conversation without fighting the music. Not a knock, if that's what they are going for, but its more of a party place than I was led to believe. Just know that quiet (at least on a Friday night, even as early as 9) is not accurate. Blind Robin is still the most relaxed on the block. However, great drink selection, the absolute friendliest bartenders and lots of comfortable seating. Nice bar actually, but wouldn't recommend a weekend visit. Day we visited, back of house was a private event (on a Saturday), front room was great until a douchebag 80s bar crawl in bad wigs showed up and took over the space. Not funny, not ironic, just pathetic. Good drinks, I guess they can't pick their clientele, but if this is a typical Saturday, I'd stay away. Went here Thursday night with some people from work. When we walked in there was 2 additional people in there. Cool dive bar feel. Chris the bartender was great introduced himself and asked where we worked. We all noticed a there was no tv which is so odd today to go someplace that has no television. As people were getting off work the place was getting more crowded and my husband and I noticed no one was glued to their phones. People were actually socializing - laughing, conversations and having a good time. Will definitely be back. read more

EZ Inn is no longer a divey kind of dive bar, and so owner Isaac should contact Yelp to get the old reviews removed. Now it's got a subtle vibe of the early '80s, with various brown tones and dim but warm lighting. Imagine it's inspired by the living room of that smiling family you used to see on board game boxes. I believe they claim to have the most spared-down spirits collection in the universe, or something like to that effect. In other words, they just have one kind of each liquor - I like the simplicity! A bartender has the name "Peaches." There's nothing more that needs to be said. read more
