Review from a poor man. This place reminds me of the pizza I have grown up with. So it is very nostalgic in that sense (except it is cooked a little bit more and I am more than fine with that). Now it isn't as thin as I like my pizzas to be at this stage in my life but it was a tasty enough pizza. I would have it again but it isn't my first choice. My love was in the mood for Sicilian pie. I was in the mood for mussels and a hunk of bread. The mussels were delicious! Tender and tasty. The tomato sauce was sweet and fresh. The bread was a substantial little loaf that held up to the sauce. What more can you ask for? It made me happy. read more

This is a great pizza place. Bottom line. I have eaten pizza many places, and I am especially a fan of Sicilian. Lodi makes one of the best. Really like this place. Stopped in a few times and got slices. I really enjoyed their white slice so this time we got a whole pie. $20 good size pie that was delicious. I walked in ordered and it was ready in about 15 minutes. They have all sorts of options and they have fountain sodas. Which is a huge plus for a pizzeria. A lot of the trendy new spots don't. Now if you are a thin crust pizza eater this probably isn't for you. This is old school NJ pizza at its finest. A little thicker a little more cheese. The people that work there are all pretty nice. In the main room they have bunch of sopranos themed stuff on the walls. They also have a side room with a bunch of Misfits memorabilia. Very cool! read more

I only had pizza from here when neighbors had gotten delivery many years ago. I had wanted to come for a while but saw the reviews got really bad but I checked again and was seeing great reviews so I went. I wanted a plain slice and asked the girl there what her favorite was and she said pepper and onion so I got a slice of that also and I spotted large rice balls so I took one home to have the next day. The slices looked really good and the undercarriage had great color however I found it to be very salty and heavy, too much cheese and sauce for the dough. The pepper and onion was better but again too heavy. The rice ball I had the next day was unimpressive. I'm not sure if the latest reviews were from customers back in the day when this was supposed to be some of the best pizza around but I certainly didn't feel that way. read more

Ordered for pick-up for lunch on a Friday, and was quoted a 20-30 minute wait time. No online ordering, and cash only. We ordered a supreme Sicilian pie, which had pepperoni, sausage, mushrooms, peppers, onions, olives, and anchovies. They'll ask if you want anchovies included, which is nice since it's not for everyone. I happen to like anchovies so I appreciated that this was included because not many places do. I liked the crust - it had the perfect amount of crispiness and bite to it. Pies are on the pricier side - this one was $30, but they don't skimp on the toppings. If you want a pizza that tickles the deep part of you that yearned for a Chuck E. Cheese pie as a kid, you've met it. Lodi pizza is virtually no-flop without being too thin or dry. It's well-sauced, so you don't get an imbalance of salty cheese. The cheese pull is magnificent. It's oily enough to feel good, but not so greasy that you can't easily house half a pie (don't look at me). There's not much else to say. It's not fancy, it's simply done right. I've been wanting to try this place for a while now. Tried the plain cheese pie with half sausage and a margherita. Big chunks of sausage, plenty of cheese, and lots of basil on the margherita. All solid pizzas with a crispy crust, mine were on the more "well done" side. Would be interested in trying the Sicilian and zeppoles. Got two pies from this places after seeing it featured on Dave Potnuy's page and it's solid pizza. I give it a 7.8 on the one bite review. No flop on the slice. Had to drive through 7 towns to get here because no matter what they tell you Jersey's pizza scene is overrated and no decent places in or near Lyndhurst, NJ. Has the ambiance of an old school pizza joint that looks like it's been open since the 70s. Friendly service. I'll come back. read more

Lodi Pizza is fantastic! A great stop for a slice of a fresh pie. It's right off of 46 and has a good sized parking lot. The vibe here is incredibly old school and retro. The menu is vintage and so is the cash register. It's very cool! The staff is friendly and they know what they're doing. My friend and I got a large pepperoni pie, a pepperoni Stromboli and a cheese calzone. All absolutely delicious. The dough is great, the fillings are generous. The pizza is great too, the crust is not too thin and not too thick - just perfect. Great sauce, good amount of toppings. Really, no complaints. I can definitely see myself ordering from here in the future. read more

An excellent old-school pizza parlor, not a restaurant, not a fast-food place, not a tentacle of huge corporation. We ordered a large cheese pie which is the time-honored test for pizzas. The three prime components cheese, sauce, and crust each have to stand on there own for a good pizza. The cheese is absolutely the best cheese I've had on a pizza in at least twenty years. The sause is also the best in at least twenty years. The crust while the best in the last twenty years was a little to dense for my personal taste but the left over slices the next day were near perfect and the slices reheated quite nicely. So if you're tired of crappy pizza go to Lodi Pizza for a pie or a slice and you'll wonder why to didn't go sooner. read more

My boyfriend and I had this place on our list for a while since we always see it while driving down 46. This place isn't bad, but it just isn't my favorite in the area. We ordered a Sicilian Pizza, Pie (1/2 Veggie, 1/2 Pepperoni), and Mozzarella Sticks. The Sicilian was pretty straightforward, but the veggie tasted a bit bland (too much onion or not enough mushroom, idk). What was consistent among the 2 pies was the amount of oil that sat on it. We had to dab it with paper towels before biting into a slice because it was just too much. Just be aware that it is CASH ONLY (at least the day we ordered). We weren't told that when we placed the order over the phone, but we were lucky to have had some on hand. read more

Lodi Pizza is a staple on Route 46 for a number of years and so popular that even celebrities frequent the place (as indicated by their wall of fame). After ordering a few times from here, I can see why. They take their time with the service because there are so many orders for pickup. From the time I parked to the time I walked out with the food there must have been at least 5 people in and out with their orders. Mind you, I was there for about 5 mins max. We most recently had the Sicilian - half veggie half pepperoni and it was excellent - not too bready and the sauce was almost sweet and delicious. I can't help but think that they even slice their pepperoni a sliver thicker than other restaurants because I felt like I got more for each bite. The veggie part was great too because of the mushrooms and the olives. If you're looking for that Sicilian goodness, look no further than Lodi Pizza on Route 46! read more

Guys is this is CLASSIC spot. Honestly worth a visit if you're in the north jersey area. Lots of memorabilia inside from the misfits and sopranos. I have been going here for over 3 decades and it continues to be the gold standard when it comes to my favorite pizza spot! The same guy (the owner) has been serving me pizza since the 90s. Sausage Sicilian pie w/ Cherry Pepsi is my go-to. I love this place! It is definitely a taste of the "Old" NJ! Lodi Pizza was featured in Season 3 of the Sopranos and the walls are covered with pictures of celebrities that have eaten there like Joe Pesci, Reggie White, Real1 (fka Enzo Amore in WWE). Definitely would recommend for take out or a to get a quick slice. FYI this place is CASH ONLY but there is an ATM on site. read more

A friend asked us to order the Old Fashioned Bianca (onions and anchovies). I will give it up that they crumble the anchovies and not just slab them on the pizza. The crust is thin with a sesame sprinkled crust and it was so good that I even ate every single bite of it, which is unusual for me. The oxtail was so flavorful and rich with the cheeses (mozzerella, Parmesan and goat cheese), meat, hot honey and spinach. The ladies asked if I wanted cilantro on top, which was the perfect add of even more flavor. They were so sweet and welcoming. Parking in downtown Englewood can be tough but I took the side street behind the row of stores and found the back entrance to Wahizza. I'm not sure if that's allowed but it made the pizza pick up a very quick and convenient experience. I plan on eating in next time bc the inside was so cute and looked very comfortable. I am definitely coming back.

We arrived about two hours before closing and asked if we could sit at the bar to watch the next soccer match after the hostess told us there were no available tables. What was confusing was that the same tables that were empty when we arrived remained empty the entire time and were still vacant when we left as the restaurant closed. Overall, the food and most of the staff were enjoyable, but the experience at the front of the house could definitely be improved.

Either way, my experience didn't live up to the hype. I visited on a late Saturday night. There's a parking lot behind the restaurant. The entrance can be tricky to find... It's located in the back on the left-hand side. The exterior and interior are both pretty dark, dull, and dingy. It's not the most inviting atmosphere at first. It has a divey, industrial, and rustic vibe to it, but hey... sometimes the best food comes from places that don't look like much. So I try not to judge. It wasn't too busy, and the service was attentive. The menu has your classic American comfort food - wings, pizza, burgers, sandwiches, etc. They switch it up with daily specials like skirt steak, chicken parm, and pasta. They have a full bar with cocktails, drafts, bottled beers, can ciders, and wines. You can even do a four-beer flight and make it a tasting experience! I ordered: *Dark & Stormy Cocktail [Goslings Dark Rum, Ginger Beer, Lime Juice] ($14) - Not the best one I've had, but it was solid. If you like ginger and rum, this is a must try. The dark rum has hints of caramel which works really well with the spicy ginger beer. The lime juice adds a citrus kick, so it's a really refreshing drink. *Margarita ($18) - As a tequila girly, I've had my fair share of margaritas. This one didn't do it for me. It was a little too sour/tart, which overpowered everything else. *Cubano Sandwich [includes roast pork, black forest ham, swiss cheese, pickles, mayo, and mustard with side of fries] ($16) - I wasn't expecting an authentic Cubano from an American sports bar, so my expectations weren't super high. This was good, but not great. The pork was flavorful, but could've been more tender. I wish there were more pickles and mayo for that extra tangy crunch. The bread was pressed a little too hard, so it was a bit tough to bite through. *Double Blackened Chicken Breast Sandwich [includes pepper jack cheese, chipotle mayo, red peppers, and red onion on brioche with side of fries] ($18) - This was huge and filling! They did not skimp out on the protein. The brioche bun was soft and buttery. The chicken was well seasoned - smoky and savory with crispy charred edges. BUT... to my disappointment, the inside was dry and not juicy at all. Another small issue was the ratio - There was so much chicken compared to the rest of the toppings, so it wasn't the most cohesive sandwich. It really needed more cheese and chipotle mayo to tie all the flavors together. The fries were the best part - thick, crispy, and golden! It's decent bar food, just not the best I've had. Nothing was bad, but nothing was great or memorable. For the price, I didn't feel it was worth it. I do appreciate that their food is served piping hot and fresh. To be fair, this is probably the perfect spot for beer lovers. I happen to not be one, lol. The burger options sound popular and promising too. I'd consider giving them another shot for Happy Hour or to try a burger, but it's not at the top of my list. Just because it's not the sports bar for me, doesn't mean it won't be the one for you.

I found Lodi's through some random research on Yelp and Google and they are as freaking delicious as advertised. I've been to Lula's a few times for takeout/pickup and the folks here are very cordial and friendly. The restaurant is very small and only has a few barstools at a counter looking out onto Essex Street. If you're driving here, which just about everyone does, the parking lot only consist of a few spots directly in front of it, but the spots typically open up quick since 99.99999% of customers are here to grab and go. As for the menu, I've only come here for the daily lunch specials because they are an awesome, awesome deal. On Monday to Saturday (closed on Sundays) from 11AM-3PM they serve rice and beans or moro rice with a protein from the daily specials menu. AND, mostly importantly, the specials range from $8.50-$14.95 (the Ox Tail Stew being the main outlier at $14.95), with the average around $10, which is a steal! Proteins that you can choose include Chicken Stew, Roasted Pork (aka Pernil), Baked Chicken, Ox Tail Stew, Rib Stew, Pork Chop Stew, Beef Stew, Goat Stew, BBQ Ribs and many, many more. Depending on the day, the specials will be different, so do check the menu online (https://lulaslodi.com/daily-specials/). In addition, if you're just strolling in off of the street and haven't looked at the menu, don't expect a menu to be hanging above the ordering counter because there is none! (Although they do have their paper menus sitting by the cashier) But do your homework before hand or be ready to ask "what is that?" when looking through the glass windows where the food is kept warm. Since I have the utmost faith in them scooping the food for my entree, I typically just call in my food now and it's ready to go. So you're thinking, OK, that's a pretty good deal for these lunch specials, but what about portioning? Did I not just say it's an awesome, awesome deal???? It wouldn't be an AWESOME, AWESOME deal without a huge portion! The portions are ridiculous! I consider myself someone who has a big appetite and can eat a lot and I even have to split the lunch special into 2 meals because it's A LOT of food. For someone with a massive appetite, this will probably hit the spot. For someone with an small, average or decent appetite, this is undoubtedly a 2 meal entree because they jam the round tin foil tray to the top. And it goes without saying that the food is delicious. I've tried the Chicken Stew, Beef Stew, Baked Chicken and Roasted Pork and, so far, it all is exceptional. The rice is perfectly cooked and the meats are tasty. The only slight I have is I did wish they included a littttle bit more meat for some of the dishes because there is a heck of a lot of rice, but most of the time they give the right amount of protein. I think you pretty much know where I stand about Lula's. I'm super grateful that they aren't too far away and I know where I will ABSOLUTELY be going when in need of good takeout Latin food.
