Loco Moco one of our favorite plate lunch restaurants. They make one of the best Teriyaki Pork on Oahu. They are running a "Special " in the Mid Week Newspaper. Buy a Regular plate lunch and get a Free plate lunch (Choices are Chicken Katsu, Teriyaki Chicken, Mochiko Chicken, or Garlic Chicken for the free plate). Great deal! They were very busy with some large catering orders but did a great job taking care of their walk in customers. Highly recommended

I ordered for delivery and that is always a lil nerve wracking cause u never know what ur going to get. I was very pleasantly surprised when my food got here. I ordered the chicken katsu to share with my mom and my dad got the bbq mixed plate. When I opened the container I was like woah!! Nice portions!!! I took a bite of my katsu (side order of curry) and I was like dang!! One of the best chicken katsu I've had! Also the curry was incredible! Usually there is a strong "bite"to the curry and this was so mild and creamy with a hint of sweetness on the back end. Thank you loco moco!! U have outdone yourself!! Chefs kiss!!

Props to Loco Moco for thriving all these years. When Kapolei had practically nothing 30-years ago, this was the go to place. This location had been our family caterer for the fist 5-years, 1995-2000 and beyond. I was craving a chicken katsu plate earlier in the day and since I needed to do some grocery shopping, so I decided to come here. Staff is very friendly. Price is good. Not too long after, my mini plate arrived. States off with the Mac salad and it was tasty, while the chicken katsu satisfied the craving. [[HIGHLIGHT]]It's a tiny location with a few 4-seater tables available.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Plenty of people walking in to take out while a few of us stayed to dine in.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] While waiting for dinner, I saw one of the staff members wrapping up a small platter for take out and it reminded me of when we would order our family take out here. Brought back fond memories. I loved the lemon chicken here. Next potluck, I'll pickup from here.

Never thought you could make French fries dry! But my over cooked fries! Never ordering this again!

Wow! Great price on party pans! Will order again! Ordered 2 days ago & picked it up & was so amazed that it tasted so good!

Loco Moco- All white rice, 2 over easy eggs, 2 beef patties covered in gravy. Beef patties were alittle tough.

My first time back in 2 years since since they opened under new management and they've improved ALOT. The Buy-one-get-one plate lunch coupon from the midweek paper is what got me in and I'm glad I used/turned it in. The plate lunches was in large portions (even the mini bbq chicken was huge), tasted pretty good (just the beef patties in the Loco Moco were alittle tough) and the prices were fair. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant was clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Plenty of free parking. Easy phone ordering and take out. Cashier was nice. Although I miss the kapolei original I'm glad I gave the new Loco Moco a second chance.

    Kalbi and chicken katsu combo

I had to work late tonight and didn't want to go home and cook so I decided to get something on the way home. I stopped in at Loco Moro and got a kalbi and chicken Katsu combo with mac salad and white rice. The chicken katsu was nice and crispy. The kalbi was seasoned well. However the mac salad was plain and had no seasoning whatsoever. Other than that I was satisfied with the meal.

Came here for quick Hawaiian bite yo eat. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is cute and clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I ordered grilled garlic ahi, my sister got the chicken katsu curry and we shared the shrimp salad. Food took a bit to come out. Ahi was ok but pretty plain and my sister said the katsu is good and serving size was a big generous! Overall, good place to come for quick meal!

First time this Loco Moco location. In general most of these locations are pretty decent. Ordered the Eggplant Stirfry with Chicken. Tasted ok but nothing memorable. The teriyaki sauce was very sweet. The chicken, vegetables and eggplant on par with my expectations for this kind of place. The Mac salad however was bland. Portioning was just average. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Beautiful large Hawaiian mural on wall and nostalgic photos.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Lots of seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]Seems pretty clean.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Service was good. Cashier greeted me, said Thank you after paying, asked me if I wanted my soda now. Brought my takeout order to me while I sat waiting on one of the tables. If the Mac salad was good, I'd give it another star. Not sure if I'd return.

    Mochiko Chicken Regular Plate Lunch
    Emelryn Vebs D.

We found a BOGO free plate lunch deal for Loco Moco Drive Inn in Midweek and couldn't resist clipping it. We got the Pork Lau Lau and Mochiko Chicken Regular Plate. Both were decent plate lunches, and the BOGO deal made it even better. The Pork Lau Lau had the right amount of pork and salt. Sometimes other places make it too salty, but this one was just right and cooked perfectly. The Mochiko Chicken was a little overcooked, but still good. Each regular plate came with a regular mac salad and 2 cups of rice. Nothing fancy, but it worked. Overall, decent food and a great deal. We'll definitely be back!

I'm hoping the Mochiko Chicken is da bomb

I stopped by Loco Moco- Kapolei on my way home. I was craving Mochiko Chicken. It's like a hit or miss. It's either good or not good. I ordered a special combo plate. The nice guy said that it was cheaper than purchasing two plates. I ordered the sweet and sour Spareribs with white rice & Mac Salad for Hubby. I got the Mochiko Chicken on the side for me. They cook it while you wait. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The restaurant is small but spacious enough that you some feel crowded.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] When the server brought me my order, it smelled sooooo good. I couldn't wait. I immediately grabbed a piece of chicken to eat right then. Seasoned perfectly, hot as ever. Just delicious. I truly believed that I had eaten all my Mochiko chicken on my drive home to the North Shore. There was 1 piece left for Zeus. Much to say, I will go back to order from Loco Moco-Kapolei again real soon.

He liked it, and by reading the more recent comments, I guess everyone else likes it, too. And I admit that the first and last time I came, more than 2 years ago, the food was good. But if you read my original post, you'll know that I had and issue with their online ordering and, to make a long story short, I ordered online for their KONA store which was misleading in their website. The owner at the Kapolei store said they would remake the order, and that she'd call the Kona store to cancel my payment. Bottom line, never happened! Ended up paying the Kona store $45+ and Kapolei $45+. So ultimately, I paid $91+ for two plates. Never got the refund, haven't been back since. So I realize they probably don't care about ONE negative customer since they have so many good reviews. Like..."who cares about this guy?" So yeah, no matter how good the food was, I'm NEVER going back.

Majority of the appetizers we got were good. - truffle fries..well...their truffle fries and cant really go wrong - taro dumplings (i forgot if thats what we got but they were good but not blown away either) - corn chowder was good - brisket pesto pizza? (Im overdue with the review so forgot what pizza it exactly was) but i remember this was good. It was in the happy hour menu is all i can remember. - wings but unsure about the goat cheese dip. I prefer plain ranch - the kids pasta was good. Well, one kiddo loved it while the other didn't. So it depends on preferences on this one. I will say i did taste it and it was meh... - another kiddo got the shoyu noodles and its plain. So if you got a simple palate plain jane child, they will like this one. For drinks, it depends on taste and preferences. I was bummed on this one. Mainly looking fwd to the drinks and it didn't satisfy my tastebuds. It was too twisted, fusion, modified etc. i prefer a mai tai a plain old fashioned mai tai without the fixings. The orange foam was too strong it overwhelmed the dark rum im used to and prefer. So i decided to try the ube rey instead which was much better but still not as much to my liking/preferences. Went back to Aulani a but bummed and decided to get another at Aulani the next day instead and I will say, i liked it better as it followed the more traditional way of making it. So if you prefer traditional ways, this may not be for you and if planning to drink, simply keep with the simplier generic drinks, wine or beer. If you prefer to try different ways and flavors, then you will love this. Service was great and our server was attentive at all times. Thank you. Ambiance was good but outdoor seating may be a bit of a nuance due to flies swarming around you often. The swinging table fan helps but are still annoying plus the tropical heat also didn't help.

The only thing they had run out of was the chop steak and one other protein, which wasn't too big of a deal for me. My eye was on the beef stew. Growing up in a Filipino household, I knew this dish as "caldareta." My dad would make this for me all the time. I asked for a bowl to go so I could enjoy it for dinner later. The Pork Ribs were actually the closest to previous pictured plates - tasted like "salt and vinegar" instead of "salt and pepper" - still skimpy (little meat covering huge bone inside)! Their "garlic noodles" had so much garlic that I'm sure that Vampires and Draculas will stay away from me for a week. The rice tasted like "day-old refrigerated" rice which was microwaved.
