Room beautiful. A place to totally relax, feel comfortable and enjoy life. Service attentive, charming and friendly. Bar lovely. Some great mixed drinks and a decent selection of grappas. So what's the downside? Well there is the food ..... Some of it is ok. Breads are nice. My wife liked her fish. Our three appetizers were all tasteless and not particularly rescue-able with salt. The caciucco (Italian bouillabaisse) was a good diagnostic of the state of the kitchen. Bouillabaisse's and their ilk are a test of the cook - and whoever does the shopping. If the raw ingredients aren't good, nothing will save the soup. And it takes skill to cut and handle the timing so all the different ingredients with different sizes and textures all come out perfectly cooked at serving time. The caciucco did not pass the test. The Mussels were wonderful - and arguably the timings were oriented around the mussels. The tomato-based soup/stock was lovely - - - - after the addition of significant salt at table. The fish was tasteless. It was well textured so the cooking time was fine - - - it just probably wasn't that good a piece of fish to start with. The shrimp was beyond saving. (and it was cooked in the shell which should have preserved flavor. So we had a worst of both worlds - fightining in a soup to get the shell off your shrimp to find a tasteless fragment that has had all the life boiled out of it.) But it is a lovely room with lovely hardworking sincere and friendly staff ... and if you keep drinking enough of their rum and ginger drinks ... none of these food faults will make that much of a difference........ till you get the check. read more

Locale has captured the hearts of the locals and not so local followers and has become one of the places to go and eat at in this area. Frequented by a mixed much bunch but predominantly those with lots of disposable income, it seems to be a ritual for some on a Friday night. Typically Italian it offers something for everyone. Sit at the bar and enjoy cocktails and light nibbles, enjoy the outside space or eat inside A@ La Carte or if you really want to push the boat they offer a private dining experience ideal for that special occasion. I have been many times on a Friday evening and the food has always been fantastic and the friendly service makes for a very enjoyable night out. And you get to rub shoulders with the great and good of Fulham. Also do a Sunday roast but I have yet to sample that delight. read more

Locale - Italian Near Me - London, XGL

We discovered Locale last night when one very hangry (hungry-angry) Becky needed dinner STAT after watching a long World Cup match. When I get hangry, carbs are pretty much essential. Hence, Locale for a pizza fix. The pizza I had here was VERY tasty. The dough was really good, slightly sweet and with a good crunch. The toppings were flavourful and plentiful. My husband's risotto was less exciting, but absolutely fine. Most importantly, my hanger subsided and we were able to enjoy a nice dinner in the good atmosphere. A last minute dinner here on a Thursday a few weeks back ended up being one of the best meals I've ever had. I'm always happy when my dinner starts with scallops, but I eat them a lot - so I'm picky. Serving them with a pea and mint puree and chorizo though? Perfect in my book. And with a full bodied red to match? We're off to a good start. My other half then had a beautiful steak and I tucked into some beautiful pasta to boot. Then we ended up sitting outside with the MOST FABULOUS CARAMELISED APPLE TART IN THE WORLD. I cannot stress enough how good this was. Homemade, served with proper ice cream. Apples cooked to perfection. Pasty just crumbly and melt in mouth tasty. Just. BRILLIANT. All dished up with prompt but not pushy service (but that's what I like, to be left to ourselves unless we need something). I'll definitely be going back. read more

Stick to the classics: Marinara, pomadoro, meatballs, etc. You will not go wrong. Arguably the best meal I have had in London thus far. Wine suggestion by the waiter was great. Food was perfect and quick. While I wouldn't travel from London just to eat here, being in the neighborhood, I would plan to stop by for dinner. Truly worth it. read more

Full disclaimer: I won a free 3 course dinner for two with a bottle of house wine to dine here. This has to be the best Italian restaurant I have been to in South West London/ West London. Despite the meal being free, we had excellent service throughout the evening. Gulliana was attentive and friendly to us.The restaurant is very easy to find on the main road with huge signage. Inside, it is very big but was still busy and full for a Friday night. The ambience is dim lighted and is suitable for romantic evenings for couples but still had better lighted areas for large groups or families. The food is the best part. Calamari and soft shelled crab were both yummy ( I would recommend the calamari sauce over the crab sauce though). I then had the seafood linguine which was cooked to perfection and had fresh seafood. The dinner was topped off with a heavenly chocolate fondant. It was dark chocolate but not bitter at all and had yummy hints of nuts. What a great night out. I will be back as I am a local Fulham foodie! read more

I don't understand the harsh reviews for this fabulous place! Its great food, very warm romantic decor and prompt service. I had the ricotta spinach ravioli in sage butter- yum! Their garlic bread is divine coming in a pizza shape and the bread is so delicate and flavorful! The wine selection is great and its just an amazing place to enjoy good food and wine with good friends. Highly recommended (and I hail from NYC so I know good food!) read more

Food was ok. Nothing special. Service was incredibly slow .,... When my main did arrive half was cold and the rest lukewarm I did kind of want desert when they brought the menu but 20 minutes later when they came back to take the order I was kind of over it read more

This restaurant is located in a quiet residential area on the high street. The restaurant has an outside terrace, very nice to chill out when the sun is out. The inside decor is charming. Came here for steaks on a Monday night, where they have special promotion. The steak is cooked very well, just the way I like it, medium, juicy and tender. Would definitely come again to try something else as they offer many other varieties in the menu, mainly serving Italian food. read more

I went with a few friends on a Monday, which is half-price steak night. As it turns out - the steak itself may half-price, but you still have to pay extra for sauces and vegetables - which added at least £5 to the steak. The steak itself only comes with potatoes. All of us ordered the Bearnaise sauce to go with our steaks, and all of us were severely disappointed. The sauce turned out to be little more than run of the mill mayonnaise with some dried herbs sprinkled frugally on top. While the French beans were average, the spinach and garlic side was far too garlicky. The steaks themselves were actually quite good. We all ordered them rare, and mine was a delicious juicy pink. They arrived promptly, as well. A bit too promptly actually, as was evidenced by the lack of care with the side vegetables and potatoes. I ordered mashed potatoes, but instead was served the roast potatoes. The roast potatoes were dry, tiny and hard, and seemed to be several hours old. There were also huge garlic hunks mixed in amongst them that looked just like the potatoes, making for quite an unpleasant and unintended mouthful at one point. The service left something to be desired, as the waitress kept coming to clear the table by standing in between one of my friends and I and leaning completely in front of and over me, so much so that I had to sit all the way back in my chair and stop talking repeatedly. We were also not brought any tap water until we asked for it, at the end of the meal. The atmosphere in the restaurant was quite nice overall, however it was not as full as it ought to have been considering it was half-price steak night. Think the many empty tables speak for themselves as to the quality of the food. On a more positive note, I did enjoy the large fish-bowl style glasses for the red wine. Not sure if I would come here again - perhaps on another night for something other than the steak, like pizza or pasta. read more
