Da Remo is known as a favorite haunt of some famous British actors including Sean Connery. The restaurant is a small Italian restaurant near Uxbridge, and is quite the find, particularly for an out of towner. Da Remo should certainly pride itself on the service it provides its guests. We had wonderful service - timely, without oppressing us with constant presence. For a large group that just showed up and surprised them, they handled us nicely and didn't have any problem serving the group and keeping up with our needs. When we had questions, they were good about explaining different menu items and helping us determine what we wanted to order. I had 3 courses with my meal - antipasti, the main course, and dessert. Everything I had was fantastic. The cannoli I ordered was incredibly good - the best I've ever had. My main course was a variant on chicken cordon bleu, and was perfectly prepared and full of flavor. I finished with the cheesecake (not NY style), which made a nice finish to the evening. I had the house red wine with my dinner and was quite pleased - it had a nice bouquet and finish, and paired well with my meal. Everything was perfect, which is difficult to pull off with a large group.

Their staff were so friendly and helpful even though they looks super busy. Their dishes are all perfect. We had scallops as a starter, which was so tasty and so tender. Their wine was also good. The restaurant itself is pretty small considering it seems very popular. So i would book ahead of time. The menu has a mix of influences from british to far east so there really is something for everyone. The last time i was there (i have been many times before) i has thai fishcakes for my starter which were cooked to perfection and cost about £5.50, then i had a whole rack of ribs (greedy i know!) for about £15. It is not the cheapest place to eat but it really is nice and well worth the visit for the décor! The staff are also really nice and very knowledgeable. Other things on the menu which i can remember (obviously there are a lot more) include for starters: nachos, crispy duck, fried prawns, Mains: Steak, Burgers, Currys.. cant remember puddings!) This is a great place to eat if you want to try somewhere a little more exciting and who knows, you might pick the nite Richard Gere decides to eat here again!

2nd visit to Uxbridge and so wanted to have a really nice Italian dinner…read more We both ordered off the 2 items menu with my wife selecting the mushroom crostini and a pasta dish, while I ordered spaghetti and a tiramisu to follow. When the appetizer arrived I asked if it was possible to add garlic bread with our entrees and was told, absolutely. The mushroom app was fabulous, however a little short of bread, hence the garlic bread addition, for our entree. Our entrees arrived and we waited for the garlic bread. After waiting for sometime we started our entrees. The waitress came by and told us that the bread would be another 'minute'. The minute turned into many more minutes and the bread arrived after we had finished our entree's. We then sat for 10 minutes or more, looking at our finished plates and garlic bread having gone to waste. We caught our waitress's attention and told her we were all done. She respond, 'are we finished with the bread' and I responded, 'yes as it arrived after we had finished our meal'! After another 5-10 mins of waiting we were presented with dessert menu's and caught our waitress's attention before she left to remind her that we had ordered dessert with the initial order. The tiramisu was great as well:) While we would recommend Bella Italia because the food was delicious and tasty, other than the untouched garlic bread, the service was really very poor. This was definitely not helped by being charged for the 'late to the table' bread.

    Zizzi - 'nduja linguine arrabbiata

Last Saturday we were strolling around Into in Uxbridge and were fancying some Italian…read more We've been to other branches of Zizzi in the past and we do like it quite a lot. I know most foodies might turn up their noses at the notion of going to Zizzi for a fix of Italian. Yes, I know it's a chain. Yes, I know you could get better. But ultimately, it's flavours that count and Zizzi has never failed to deliver. We ordered a large Zizzi antipasti to share and a portion of their calamari. The selection of cured meat and their dough sticks were spot-on, and the buffalo mozzarella quite literally melted in my mouth. The Calamari were a teeny tiny bit cold (didn't nuke those ones thoroughly, hey? You cheeky chain-restaurant people?) but still tasty. Every single time we go to Zizzi I tell myself ' this time I am totally going to have pizza', but then I always cave in and get pasta. Nothing leaves me satisfied like a good sized portion of pasta packed with flavours, and my treat of choice is often their Linguine Arrabbiata - with 'nduja and mascarpone. For those who don't know, 'nduja is a quite hot spreadable sausage from Calabria that makes for an excellent pasta-sauce. It's really quite hot, but the tablespoon of mascarpone on top of it soothes the tongue and it's a feast for the palate. The linguine (and this was the first time ever) were slightly overcooked for my taste as I do prefer my pasta 'al dente', however I did forget to mention it when ordering so hey. My fault I guess. Of course I couldn't help but feeling a little bit jealous of my other half's rustica pizza which looked (and - as he repeated over and over - tasted) delicious. Finished all off with a good sized serving of their tiramisù, which we shared. That was probably the thickest layer of mascarpone I've ever seen on a dessert and sweet baby jesus was it tasty. The place is nice, wooden décor galore, floor included (which can get a bit noisy with many people walking and kids running around). All in all, another pleasant experience.

We selected our food the day before, and when we arrived, no one checked to see who was sitting where. It seemed the pre work was not going to pay off. The main course took 70 minutes to bring out, and since we arrived early, they asked i we wanted our food brought up. Apparently, they held off to make the food ready for the original time, despite arriving early. The wine was okay, I found it to have a bite for a sweeter wine. The staff seemed a bit scattered. Overall ambiance was cool decor, smokey from the food cooking downstairs. I imagine for smaller parties this would be an enjoyable place to frequent.
