Have you ever eaten pasta in the shape of maggots? - Well here at Nuraghe, I had the pleasure (yes, the pleasure!) of eating pasta of maggot-shape.
It was a miserably rainy London Sunday evening, yet still I felt like going out for dinner. I decided to play a little game and take the next bus that would come by and then get off at the next attractive-looking restaurant. Well...as luck would have it, I jumped on the #4 and when we passed through Tufnell Park, I spotted Nuraghe: mission accomplished!
To be honest, at first I reluctant to go to yet another Italian restaurant, as you can find them left and right in every London hood: but in the end I was really glad I came: upon entering the simple, but not-cheap-looking trattoria, I was warmly greeted by the staff - which set the tone for my entire dining experience.
When I had studied the menu, I asked - what seemed to be the owner of this place - if she could help me decide between two intriguing-sounding dishes: "Malloreddus alla Canpidanese" and "Culurigones". She announced that they were both traditional Sardinian dishes (which, by the way, is the default cuisine here) and she then asked me in her lovely Italian accent: Are you hungry? Me: Yes!!! She: Then I'd suggest you go for the Malloreddus.
When my meal arrived I was flabbergasted by the sheer size of it: the portion was indeed very generous and it was exactly what I needed: pasta with a hearty meat-tomato sauce and a generous glass of house red! Yummy!
To make a long story short: this is a fantastic place where you can eat traditional Sardinian dishes. The staff is very friendly and are well-liked by the patrons of this place - who seemed all to be regulars from the way they were greeted by the proprietress! read more
