It has become much updated and has expanded with Seattle locations including Aurora, Green Lake, Fremont, Ballard, West Seattle, Central District, Columbia City, Downtown, and View Ridge. There are also locations in Bellevue, Bothell, Burien, Edmonds, Issaquah, Kirkland, Redmond. I was out and about pricing bread flours at Metropolitan Market - Sand Point, Whole Foods - Roosevelt, and PCC - View Ridge. I was also specifically comparing Cairnspring Mills flours retail prices versus mail order. This was not available at my neighborhood Central Market/Town & Country in Shoreline and definitely not at Safeway! I determined that this particular PCC site had both a selection of this locally grown and milled flour, plus bonus the 2.2 pound bag I selected was on sale! Bonus if you have little ones, you can buy items for a picnic al fresco to enjoy at a well maintained park and playground across the street.

Knowing that they had just reopened after closing for a month, it was heart-wrenching watching the firefighters drill through the front door because I knew this would be a catastrophic loss. (The firemen responded within minutes and the fire was only on the porch as far as I could see.) This was a small business with affordable produce and snacks. It was a good grab-and-go store that served the neighborhood for over 30 years. I would swing by 2-3 times a week because it's a much better alternative to pricey Whole Foods down the street. The staff were always kind and helpful. I wish I had seen or heard something that night. I don't even want to believe it. Why even do this? Now the last best thing in Roosevelt is gone. Where do we go now for groceries? How many more businesses do we need to lose in this neighborhood?

The delivery to my doorstep is still super-fantastic. The new beautiful things? They now have fruit-only and veggie-only bins! And more importantly... YOU CAN NOW MAKE SUBSTITUTIONS ON THE SITE AND BUY EXTRA ITEMS IF YOU WANT TO! I believe you're limited to 5 substitutions per bin, but that's still awesome! Sometimes I haven't finished the apples yet or know I won't want a certain item the following week, and I love that I can edit my order right on the website (instead of having to email or call). I do like going to shops and markets and picking out my own things, but experience has shown me that I just don't make enough time for that to actually have produce available in my kitchen every day/week. This way I get to discover new items, only have to decide on any substitutions I might want, and it shows up on my doorstep every Tuesday so I always have some (healthy!) food available at home without needing to go shopping. I LOVE IT! *Case of amazing customer service: The owner Carolyn recently called me because she noticed that I had selected the fruit bin, but kept substituting vegetables in. She wanted to suggest switching to the personal mixed bin because then I'd be able to still get fruit and a bunch of other items. I'm so happy I did that because with the fruit bin I kept going crazy and ordering like 10-15 bananas each time. Now I limit myself to 2-4 bananas and get a wider variety of veggies/fruit instead!

They will not allow their employees to wear watermelon pins in support of Palestine, despite allowing them to wear other political symbols. Rather than firing employees who go against this policy, they just keep sending them home in an effort to make them quit. The pins were given to the employees by their union and they have every right to wear them.

Getting fresh, locally sourced food is literally the only reason we order from them. We had an order that was supposed to be delivered on Thanksgiving morning (that's what it said on their newsletter), but it arrived on Friday instead. When we contacted customer service, they gave defensive response that three minutes after we placed the order, the system updated to the "correct" delivery date, even though their newsletter said they don't deliver on that date. The response didn't actually address the lack of clarity about the delivery date. They even once included a slip of paper with someone else's name, phone number, and address. We're done with this place.
