To be honest, we had breakfast at another spot earlier that morning, but we already knew their coffee was kinda weak. . So, we found ourselves craving a real cup of coffee afterward. A quick online search pointed us to @Local Coffee. At the time, we were in Conyers, but the results led us all the way to Downtown Covington. That's when we realized, it's been awhile, but we'd actually been there before. We entered and were greeted warmly by the staff. Wifey was still reviewing the menu and I started explaining what I was looking for; a mocha but that was not watered down by the milk and foam. The barista took my suggestions and was ready to brew my customized request. Wifey decided on an Americano with Caramel added in the little milk. While we waited, we took a few minutes to explore the space.The atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming. Toward the back, there was a cozy little library area perfect for lounging, and just off to the side near the counter, we noticed what looked like a small selection of beers on tap--all from Creature Comforts Brewing Co., if I'm not mistaken. I always have an enjoyable experience at the Local. The staff is always pleasant. I love the atmosphere. The fact that you can sit and read a book from their library or your own is so great. I used to love their muffins, but can't enjoy them now that I know I can't have gluten. They have live music sometimes, like guitar playing. It's never too loud as with some establishments where you can't hold a conversation or just mellow out. read more

Good place to study and get coffee. I always choose the area in the back because they' have more charging space and bigger tables. Only thing id say is it gets very loud at a certain time of the day and a-lot of teens come in in the afternoon. So studying is not recommended but coffee with friends is a much better option. read more

EDITED: Love, love, love the atmosphere and the goodies. BEWARE the espresso is super strong so adjust your order accordingly. I wasn't expecting it so my coffee wasn't great. I didn't ask for a remake but I'm going to try them again and and make sure to ask for "extra sweet " to see if that helps. Edit in response to owner comment: It was a white mocha made with oat milk. Went today to get a coffee and a tea. The guy that was making drinks with long hair did not care about anyone's time or experience. He took 25 minutes to make a drink, was visibly talking with other coworkers loudly and made it uncomfortable for everyone in line. Not to mention, drinks were terrible. Would not suggest going here, bread and butter is way better. Head across the street there instead. The only positive is the live band playing, they were great! read more

This is an amazing study lounge for students of all ages! The coffee is fantastic. However, it is expensive. I believe that 16oz of coffee is $8 or more. On the other hand, the service is awesome! If I could give this place 20 stars I would. We stopped by for a family tour of downtown historic Covington and it's the middle of the summer... so sweat everywhere and the breeze isn't helping... We went inside to grab some of their on tap Kombucha, pastry, and to use their restroom and it was absolutely amazing. The restroom was clean and kept clean, the pastry and drinks were fantastic, and the staff were beyond wonderful and helpful. We will definitely be coming back if not for the town then for this spot. Note: none in our family were needing to study, but the lounge was incredibly quiet despite moderate traffic through as it was en route to the restroom from the main side of the cafe. read more

I really hope you hire someone who actually knows coffee and how to ring people up properly, I can understand someone new, but the person who appeared to be the trainer insisted they had iced coffee. Customers deserve to know what they are getting and not to get the wool pulled over their eyes. Don't call cold brew iced coffee because they are different drinks with different brewing techniques, tastes, and prices. Atmosphere - 5 Service - 5 Food - 3 (very very sugary) Coffee - 4.5 Cost - Pricy Their coffee is quite good. They almost always offer a wide variety of nut milks. If you're a cold brew person, don't get their normal cold brew - it tastes like soy sauce. The Ethiopian is much better, albeit with strong fruity overtones and slightly smoky undertones (which I enjoy). The baristas are always wonderful. They are always chatting with the customers, making the coffee shop feel homey. The music played over the speakers is generally alt-rock, indie, or classic rock. They often have live music on weekends - usually only solo or duet performers. Sometimes they make your ears hurt, other times you catch a hidden gem. Such is the nature of Middle Georgia. The decor features images of famous locations in Atlanta, murals commissioned from a local artist, and small paintings done by local high schoolers. There is a study lounge in the back, with wireless phone chargers and the wifi is fast and consistent. A warning - avoid coming here after 8:00 PM if there is no live music. The few times I've taken this risk I've encountered: - a gaggle of drunk middle/high schoolers - incels/bronies playing switch games while saying very questionable things Loved the idea of a late night coffeeshop.
