The young lady up front was very welcoming and provided amazing service! This place has been so popular on social media and they are known for their matcha specials. If you follow them on instagram they post their daily specials and provide great updates of their inventory and wait times (a genius idea may I add). My personal favorites were the matcha einspanner and their strawberry matcha latte. For mochi donuts I especially enjoyed their lemon blueberry ricotta and brown butter turon specials. Inside they have nice seating and some stools but it gets very busy so the seating area can fill up. They also provide umbrellas if there is a long line and a hot sun outside. I highly recommend this place so be sure to check it out!

We got the regular matcha latte and the strawberry matcha latte which were both delicious and had lots of matcha in it which we appreciated. We also liked that the drinks weren't too sweet. We also tried the mochi donuts, mango cheesecake was good but Thai tea Oreo was weird. Ube muffin was decent but overpriced for the size. Wish we could've tried the brioche but they don't sell them until noon. Overall solid spot for matcha and pastries!

Ladies at the counter and making coffee are extremely dedicated and work super fast. They offer a great variety of coffees, Kombucha and teas. Lots of fresh pastries and breakfast options. We ordered a Cappucino and a Matcha Latte with almond milk. Extremely great quality of Matcha and Coffee. We even ended buying their Ethiopian Coffee Beans to take home. They have a big seating area inside and out and it is a dog friendly place inside and out.

Like many parts of Santa Barbara, the buildings are steeped in history and reflect the Spanish heritage of the city. I walked in my dog (they're dog friendly!) and went straight to look for the menu. My dog immediately found the bike pump and the snacks they leave for dogs. Service is super nice! They all seem very jovial and cheerful - making it a really nice local vibe. It was great to see the community in the coffee shop. Sadly, the coffee leaves something to be desired. Their menu is pretty standard - you got your flat whites, cappuccinos, lattes - and nothing special or standout from the menu. That's fine - you can still be a standout coffee shop with a standard menu. I ordered two vanilla lattes - one hot, and the other iced with oat milk. Unfortunately, I think my order was misheard as my iced oat latte was missing the vanilla. - Vanilla Latte: Fine. My partner typically orders this everywhere and he said it was fine, but nothing standout. 3/5 - Iced Oat Latte: Already mentioned it was missing the vanilla I asked for, so I'll discuss the other elements. They use a darker roast - thus, making it more susceptible to a bitter taste. That, and I believe an over-extraction or a longer pull made the coffee quite bitter. They also served it in the same cup as the hot coffee. My main issue with this is that I'm a slower coffee drinker, and thus my cup began disintegrating as time passed. Their cups aren't constructed to uphold iced coffee well. 2/5 It was such a prime location nearby the USPS and is sat in a great historic area. Handlebars has great staff, who clearly enjoy their jobs, and have a great community surrounding it. It's sad that their coffee is subpar. Strongly recommend you order your coffee hot, to drink in-store, or just avoid.

Bekah, the owner, is sunshine in human form with a dash of sass, who truly cares about her community. Not only that, she personally smokes the meats that feature in the sandwiches. When I tell you the smoked turkey sandwich is the best turkey sandwich in all of Santa Barbara? I may be marginally biased but I am speaking with my full chest: THE SMOKED TURKEY SANDWICH IS THE BEST IN ALL OF SANTA BARBARA!!! The tri-tip quesadilla is indulgent and full of flavor. The breakfast tacos are perfection. And the coffee selection is incredible. Java Station uses ethical blends and has lattes that rival any chain. Sometimes I just say "I need something not too sweet that'll wake me up" and she whips me up a magic potion. And all of her staff are equally talented. PLUS, Java Station has regular after hours entertainment. Expect a packed house for excellent comedy, among other events. Wine and beer offered for these too, which makes it almost like a cool speakeasy. In short, Java Station is a hidden gem that shouldn't be so hidden. I hope it's around for a good long time!

My wife is very picky with her coffee being an ex barista, and she said twice, "this really is the best coffee I've ever had". It was an iced lavender vanilla latte with oat milk. My Ghirardelli mocha was great too. The bacon and egg bagels were huge, tasty, and came with 2 really good sauces that are definitely made in house or local. The one con is price. We paid $51 for 2 sandwiches and 2 large coffees. Like I said, the sandwiches are really big and the coffee was incredible, but you will pay for what you get. I highly recommend this place.

Matcha is everywhere, but there's a big difference between match and GOOD matcha. And their matcha is GOOD matcha. Really enjoyed their strawberry matcha. It was my first time getting matcha where it was actually in the foam, and while I stirred it a bit to get the strawberry mixed in, having the matcha foam really escalated the flavor of the drink. Husband tried one of their brownies and LOVED it. Not too much seating, but the bar seating was perfect for us. Will definitely have to stop by for another matcha next time we're at the Public Market.
