The popcorn chicken... wow I mean there were MAYBE 10-15 pieces max and I'm talking small pieces. It was a tiny lil appetizer. It was definitely not enough food for 4 people unfortunately. Absolutely delicious! Definitely the best dumplings I've had outside of Irvine. Service was quick, and the inside was clean and chill. Everything came out piping hot and fresh with good flavors. Perfect spice level, just enough to be noticeable but not overpowering. We had the chashu buns, which were fluffy, soft, sweet, and steamy, exactly what you want to finish off a meal. The Dan Dan noodles were solid but not the best I've had, I preferred the homemade noodles with peanut sauce which were scrumptious. Soft chewy noodles with a light peanut sauce and crunchy cucumbers. The xiao long bao had perfect thin dough with a good pork flavor inside, I was very impressed and felt they could handle their own alongside din tai fung. My friend and I like to have lunch, then drive together to our 1:00 class. Early in the semester, we stumbled upon this place and we haven't gone anywhere else. The green beans (I know, how great could green beans be?) are GREAT! Sautéed to perfection with garlic and just delicious! In the weeks we've been here, we've tried, and loved, the dumplings, the Pineapple Chicken Fried Rice (sounds weird, but it's wonderful), Cantonese Crispy Noodles, Potstickers, Beef Roll, and it was all excellent. I was in the area and craving some Asian food. This place is a considerable option to curb the craving. It's spacious and clean inside, and the staff was friendly. Located in a strip mall, so there is plenty of parking. We ordered the pork SLB, which had a thin wrapper and filled with flavorful, hot broth. Don't forget to dip it in the black vinegar and ginger. The mapo tofu portion was large, and they definitely do not skimp out on the soft silken tofu. The flavor is ok, a little bland. But it made me feel healthy, so that's okay haha. A group of six of us went for lunch on Saturday around noon. We had never been here before but heard it was very good. Well, it is and definitely a great price. We all decided to share. We had sautéed green beans which were outstanding. We ordered two fried rices, but only should've ordered one because it was plenty. I wanted to try something new this weekend, so we decided to give this place a go. We were initially put off by their price, but finding good Asian food in this area can be tricky. You gotta pay with your wallet or your taste buds, but we hit the double whammy...not in a good way. We arrived as they opened, so the dining room was super empty. You scan the QR code to place your order, so interaction with staff is super minimal. There are squeeze bottles for sauces on the table for soy sauce, black vinegar or chili oil. Tip: Gently squeeze the sauce bottles without opening the cap since there's a hole on the cap for a steady, controlled stream. Apparently, I didn't listen very well and opened the cap to dispense the soy sauce. It splashed everywhere on the table. We ordered a few things to share: - Beef Noodle Soup: I think we assumed it would be like a Taiwanese beef noodle soup, so we were pretty disappointed that it lacked flavor. Broth was very light and the noodles were a bit thicker with that chewy/bouncy mouthfeel. Toppings were decent with sliced beef, steamed bok choy and a fried egg. Overall, it was alright, but didn't feel like something we'd order again. - Pork Xiao Long Bao: Juicy, but the skins were so delicate. When it first came out hot, the first two I picked up ripped and the broth inside just poured out. The dumpling themselves were okay. - Popcorn Chicken: These were pretty juicy, but husband prefers them to be crispier. The sizes varied with big chunks and small bite-sized pieces. Everything we ordered was so good that we were literally shocked that we were in ladera ranch rather than Irvine!! We ordered the pork XLB. It's no DTF, but still very flavorful and thin wrapping that it was a winner! Next we got the beef roll! This comes with 4 big slices, so it's great to share! The scallion roll was flakey and yummy while the beef and veg inside were juicy and spot on!! We also got the popcorn chicken because I dream of popcorn chicken and boba on the regular. And this legit made me smile.... Because I no longer need to drive to Irvine to get my popcorn chicken fix!!!! This place was legit, although I wish we could ask to make it spicer. The spicy wontons was the BIG TIME winner as it was flavorful and perfection, very similar to the one at DTF!! Lastly we got the Dan Dan noodles. These coulda def been more peanuty and spicy... but overall delish!! It's nice to have a restaurant like this in the area. I've liked everything I've tried with the exception of the soup which was a bit of a let down for me as the broth was quite bland. My favorite is the Mapo tofu which is semi soft tofu is a spicy Schwan sauce with ground meat. Make sure to order some white rice to soak up the sauce. The eggplant with garlic sauce was soooo good. The skin of the eggplant is crispy while the inside is soft and buttery. The sauce is the definition of tasty umami. I would return just for that! You order by scanning a QR code posted in a sticker at the table. The problem is that reception is not great for everyone at this location. I was able to view the menu and order while my husband could do neither. Once you are done you can't pay with the app and must call the waiter over to pay. Feels a little convoluted. Service is efficient but not quite friendly. This doesn't bother me as long as the food is good, which has been the case every time I've visited. Definitely worth trying. read more

This allowed us to take our time and it was an easy way of placing our order. -Pineapple chicken ($15.99): This was my least favorite dish. I did not like that they used canned pineapple and the chicken was not appealing. For the price I would think they would use better ingredients. I do not recommend this. 1/10 -Signature juicy pork xlb ($13.75): This was really good and the soup inside the xlb was tasty. 8/10 -Wonton in spicy chili sauce ($13.76): I definitely recommend this item because it was extremely flavorful and it's not spicy. 8.5/10 -Chocolate dumplings ($8.99): This came a close second to being last place. We requested to have this dish brought out last and we were really excited for it but it wasn't what we expected. The texture of the bun was too thick and dry. The chocolate inside all of the balls contained a Hersheys Kiss that was not melted properly. A bit of an odd visit. There are not servers per se. Basically kitchen staff or people cleaning the tables will stop by to drop off a menu and then later take your order. One lady was carrying grocery bags full of something and then dropping off our water. Food: - cucumber appetizer was not cut in long slices like the menu photo. Cucumbers were cut in large circular discs with not much flavor. - pineapple chicken: I liked the flavor of the sauce, but the chicken itself seemed like there was more breading than there was chicken. - garlic noodle chicken. This was the best item we had. Good thicker noodles. Light flavor. Tasted better the next day heated in a pan with Korean BBQ sauce added - Thai iced tea. Best thing I can say is that it was too milky. Not much flavor and the water / tea base used had an odd back bite to it. The servers / employees were nice but distant. I grew up in NYC going to China Town for Dim Sum since the 80's before that kind of thing was common in the U.S. I ate more Char Shu Bao's than hamburgers as a kid to give you context. First, the atmosphere was great. Clean, comfortable seating. The Service was tremendous. Our waitress was polite, helpful and even was able to help my wife who has coeliac's. When I try a new place I like to order basically everything, that way if we go back I know what to order and not order. We got Pork Xia Long Bao's Fried Xia Long Bao's Spicy Wontons Pot Stickers (kids) String Beans (No Soy Sauce) Steamed Vegetable Dumplings Peanut Noodles Cantonese Crispy Noodles Fried Beef with Scallions Garlic Pork Ribs First the Peanut Noodles and Garlic Pork ribs were 10/10. I'm used to cold sesame or cold peanut noodles. Instead these were served in a warm peanut and soy broth with homemade noodles. GOOD Lord they were delicious and only $8.50. The Garlic Pork ribs were one of my favorite dishes I've had anywhere. They were fried with an incredible crispy exterior and then seasoned with fermented black beans and spinach. I can't put into words how much I enjoyed these. They are tough to eat but I'm used to that format with the rib cut down into smaller knuckles but just be prepared for that. I would eat here everyday just to have these. The Spicy Wontons, Vegetable Dumplings, Pot Stickers, String Beans and Fried Beef were all very good. I would defiantly be fine ordering any of those again if we went back. The Cantonese Crispy Noodles were meh. Traditionally pan fried noodles should be crispy towards the edges of dish and then soften towards the middle. These were just crispy lo-mein and the sauce was watery and not very flavorful. The Xia Long Bao's were ok but not great. The Fried Xia Long Bao's were overley doughy and didn't have a great filling or soup inside. Honestly, if a place can get a few dishes spot on that's a win. Almost everything was very good and the Peanut Noodles and Garlic Pork Ribs were legit 10/10 and reasonable priced. The service was GREAT, the atmosphere was good. A big win for South OC. The food here is amazing. I actually had a hard time coming up with a rating because I love the food. Husband thinks it's a bit overpriced but in my opinion, if it's good it's worth the it. The problem is the atmosphere. Every time we've gone it's hotter than hell inside. They have these huge fans on either side of the restaurant that blow around the hot air. Just invest in the AC so people can enjoy the meal :/ I now only get takeout but I really recommend the bok choy, eggplant, peanut noodle and mapo tofu! All four are delicious! Probably the worst customer service I've ever experienced. First, there was no AC in the restaurant, it is 98 degrees today. I did see there are 2 big fans inside, so I decided to stay with a presumption that the AC is broken. Then when we got one of our noodle soup order, the spoon came apart as soon as my mom picked it up. We showed the server the broken spoon, she walked over without saying a single word , took the spoon and walked away to get a new one. Then when we got the soup dumpling, my 4 year old noticed right away there were ants on the cover. In the end, I asked for a to go container. On our table, there was the soup XLB we never touched, and some leftover soup with almost no noodle in it. The server asked "you want to take the soup?". Eventually I asked to speak with the manager, and this Monica girl who attended our table (the only table) said she is the manager. I told her all my concerns and she gave me no apologies but attitudes with rolling eyes. There were total of 4-5 workers in the restaurant , again we are the other table with party of 4 dining in this whole time. Unfortunately, I have experienced no customer service today and will not return again. Overall the food was okay. The shrimp and pork XLB was decent. Spicy wontons were flavorful but lukewarm. Dandan noodles were very bland but the texture of the noodles were chewy (that's a good thing). Half of the cucumbers in the cucumber salad were mushy and the flavor was off...only tasted very strongly of vinegar. For the high price point of the food I would recommend getting better sauce squeeze bottles. They are plastic, sticky, squirt all over the table and look like they haven't ever been cleaned. A GEM in South Orange County for the Asian food lovers! Stopped by as they were almost about to close and the very nice waitress sat us and repeatedly told us to take our time, relax and enjoy our meal (who does that 15 min before closing... so nice!). This was my first time ordering from Loc Noodle & Dumpling Bar. I just realized they were in Ladera Ranch when I searched for dumplings near me. Less than 5 miles from my location. The food was excellent, I had spicy dumplings, chicken fried rice and green beans. The food was prepared with awesome seasonings and not salty like I am accustomed too from other dumpling restaurants. I am definitely putting g this restaurant in my rotation.
