I've had my fair share of Mexican food, and Lobo had some of the best in Brooklyn. I really liked the atmosphere downstairs; really intimate and cozy. Upstairs is bigger and for larger parties. The margaritas were awesome and $6 during happy hour. The food was delicious and just enough. I definitely recommend the combo platters which comes with 2 or 3 different mini entrees and rice and beans. The service was also great. Our server was very sweet and friendly. Lobo is my favorite Tex-Mex place in New York. The chips and salsa, which are normally bland elsewhere, are really tasty! They have plenty of options for vegetarians, including some delicious bean and cheese tostadas. The ingredients are always fresh. Stay away from the shrimp, they make zero effort to clean them, When we sent it back & showed the waitress, she acted like this was the first time she ever heard this in her life, and She was no spring chicken. I ate here last night and had a really great and filling meal! There was no table available when we came in, so they seated us at the side and we ordered drinks. The host and waitstaff were all so nice, and the whole experience, but food and service was wonderful. Vegetarian here, I'd have to say this place is definitely not veg friendly, thus the 2 stars. While the drinks were more than delicious (5 stars for that), there was no bean option for any of the dishes. The beans that they do serve are refried with lard. The cheese was sadly and obviously velveeta. Most of our meal ended up being lackluster mushrooms and iceberg lettuce. Very disappointing, as tex mex is usually a consistent option for vegetarians. The service was great, our waiters were diligent and present, but sadly despite this, I don't think I'd come back for anything other than drinks. read more

Lobo provides solid, tex mex fare. Everything I've gotten - including the drinks - is good. Priced reasonably and I've never had to wait for a table. Salsa has just the right amount of spice and paired w/ a never-ending basket of warm chips is yummm. There is a cute outdoor patio in the back but can get overrun w/ squirrels which kind of freaks me out when eating, so I opt for indoors. Decor is eh - the seat cushions are covered w/ animal hydes and that's kind of gross, but easy to get over. I haven't found another sit-down mexican place in the neighborhood worth going to, so I'm happy with Lobo. read more

Great food. Weird awkward staff. Cute decor. They have a nice back yard area in summer. Margaritas are great. Menu is great. Sad that they do not deliver though. We'd give them a lot more business if they delivered. I bet a lot of parents that don't want to bring their children out would do delivery too. I can't speak for the dinner menu but, for brunch this place is a favorite of mine. My husband and I eat here regularly on Sundays and probably my favorite part about eating there is the staff. Jen, the waitress is so quick with a coffee refill that you never see the bottom of the cup. Their omelets are ridiculously huge in size and I love that you can get decent grits in Brooklyn. My favorite are the Migas, however. I get them with chorizo and cheese. They are so filling and tasty. For dinner, well, I have to be in the mood for Lobo. I don't really think of it as Tex-Mex, it's more like comfort food to me with a Tex-Mex twist. I always suggest this place when I am in the mood for goopy, cheesy, warming food. It's good, it's not the best food in the world. But, it ain't bad either. read more

Lobo is my 3 month cheat. My boyfriend and I go there when we want to treat ourselves to a good heavy meal. We always start with the diablo (chile con queso with meat). We should probably stop there but like I said this is when we want to cheat so I either get the tex heart attack, the wolf, or the bama. The portions are big. Our server was friendly and competent but sad to say that the compliments end there. Decor is reminiscent of a strip mall Applebee's. Food is prepared with cheap ingredients and recipes are Americanized and unimaginative. This is the kind of Mexican food you'd get at an airport or a hospital cafeteria. The pulled pork sandwich is utterly outstanding!! The moment you taste it the flavors explode in your mouth. I also had an enchilada and a crunchy beef taco. The pulled pork was my favorite. Everything else was cooked and seasoned very well. Home made tortilla chips and salsa that has a nice spicy kick that slowly builds up and isn't over powering. Total tab before tax/tip was $49 12/22/09 Just so so brunch. I had a two eggs over easy and side of pancakes and sausage. My friend had a vegetable burrito. The eggs were fine but the pancake tasted like it came out of a box and the syrup was your basic grocery store variety. The buritto was pretty bad (no flavor). However, the atmosphere is nice - cozy and casual. We sat upstairs which has windows that look down on Court St. The bar on the first floor looks like a chill place to hang. The place has nice decor, really cozy. Outside patio area as well, which is a plus. Got greeted by the hostess and bartender as soon as I walked in. Although, the waiters were sitting at a table on their phones half the time. Drinks were given to us right away, Texas Tea was tasty. Appetizer came almost instantly. Chicken quesadilla was great. I order the enchilada and two taco combo. It was good but my chicken tacos had hidden bones in them. The refried beans were very obviously spoiled and smelled rotten. The waitress just believed "I didn't like them". Hopefully no one else ordered them! I would have much rather been offered another side dish, rather than just getting a side plate to "scoop" off the beans. And still having rotten remnants on my plate. read more

Went there for brunch/lunch last weekend with a large group. They accommodated us outside and were super patient with us when we had to wait for the stragglers to show up so that we could order. I ordered off the lunch menu and had an overstuffed burrito which comes with a small salad. Food and service was good, burrito was a bit blander than expected but to me that is better than it being too spicy. I would go back and recommend. If your craving Mexican(oid) flavors, this place more than hits the spot. Nothing spectacular, but the food is fresh, flavorful and plentiful. They know what they are trying to be and they succeed. Service is prompt, friendly and the place itself is cute and has a pleasant feel. Seems to get a good eclectic crowd. Décor is warm, lots of wood, with tacky (in a good way) Mex touches. They accept only cash, which I never appreciate. But the prices are reasonable, so I suppose we can't have our churros and eat it too. read more
