I went on a Wednesday for happy hour. This is a great place. There were a lot of regulars there. There are two bars inside. The service was great. Staff was attentive and checked on me regularly. I would say if you want somewhere chill this is probably not a good place as there is music playing and they have a lot of parties. Entering, only 1/2 of the place was open to guests as the other area that has a larger bar was closed. likely opening for the dinner/true Happy Hour crowd. I ordered through doordash and we all know how unreliable the food can be on doordash. BUT this restaurant was the bomb! This restaurant cooked me a full 10 minutes before they close and it was perfection! The salmon with crab imperial on top was absolutely phenomenal! Every bite delicious. Southwest egg rolls and and seafood casadilla were right on the mark! AND AND their prices are reasonable compared to other seafood restaurants. Great job! Been wanting to visit this restaurant for some time so decided to go there today. It's a seafood sport bar kind of place. So in addition to seafood they had typical sport bar food like burgers etc. I was hoping to order some fresh blue crabs that they offer year-round. But at $50 for just 6 "large" crabs, $90/dozen, it was simply too high to justify, as much as I like blue crabs. So I ordered fish and chips, which was more reasonably priced for my wallet. The service is friendly and courteous but very slow. When I was finally seated, my server handed me a menu and a glass of water but she never asked if I wanted to order anything else to drink. The fish and chips arrived, but then I had to wait 5 minutes in order to flag my server for a fork and tarter sauce. Food wise, the fish was good, no great, cut into fish sticks which are ok if I wanted to eat with my fingers or for dipping. The fries were good, natural, not coated fries. The cole slaw was very good, freshly made, crisp with just a hint of sweetness. Bottom line for me, the food was ok, not great, some items were out of my price range, service was friendly but not very good. The majority of the seating is high, bar height metal stools that, for me, was very uncomfortable after a while. Oh, and they automatically added 18% tip to your bill. Arrived a little bit after 11 on a Friday night. One of the only restaurants still open at this time. No cover. Got a table with no wait. Our waitresses' personality was great but we didn't see her for longgg periods of time. Perhaps they are short staffed but we were nearly falling asleep waiting for basic things (blue cheese, utensils, and even my friends food that was never ordered) My friend ordered a Shrimp Imperial along with her appetizer. So we decided to give them a try this past October for happy hour, after our massages from Turf Valley Soa in Ellicott City. The outside of Loafers looks boring, but to our surprise, the inside looked beautiful and a nice size bar area that's about the length of the restaurant. We ordered our drinks a cosmo for her and a Moscow mule for myself. Our bar tender hooked our drinks up, so good that we ordered another. Along with the drunks, we ordered some cheesestrak egg rolls, as well as southwest egg rolls. We came here one Thursday evening when we were in the area- my husband said he always passed this place and wanted to give it a try. We went in knowing nothing about it, although my husband thought it would be more "bar food." The ambiance inside was a little confusing- there was a small but active bar crowd and even some security guards in the bar area, while the dining area right next to it (with an open wall) was going more for a "nice seafood restaurant" vibe. We ordered the crab pretzel ($19) and cheesesteak egg rolls ($13) for appetizers. For meals, I got the chicken fingers appetizer ($13) and my husband got a seafood penne dish ($30). The waitress asked if I wanted to have fries with my chicken fingers and I said sure ($5). We also both got iced tea ($6.50 for two). I would say the food was all very mediocre, although the pasta dish was surprisingly good, and my husband was impressed with the amount of crab and other seafood in the dish. The rest of the dishes weren't bad, just not particularly good. The meal was notably overpriced, in my opinion, and they also added on an automatic 18% gratuity ($15.57). Our waitress was nice, but the service wasn't particularly amazing- we only managed one drink refill despite drinking quickly, and there were often lags between requests (e.g., boxes for the food to go) and receiving the items. But the waitress was nice, and honestly we probably would have tipped her a similar amount, but an automatic gratuity carries a different standard in my opinion. The whole meal after tax and tip was about $107. We don't regret giving it a try, although I think we both winced at the price tag of the experience, but neither of us have any desire to come back. If you come, maybe give more of the seafood dishes a try, since the pasta was pretty good. read more

I went to loafer on 10/12 and had a great experience food was good. I went again 10/20 to get crab legs again. This experience was NOT GOOD. The host told asked if I wanted to sit upfront or go to the bar area. I said I would go to the bar area. The host told he to just go back there and me and a friend did. This was around 5:05 pm on 10/20 when I got back there I asked the "lady" can I just sit anywhere. She replied "since you just walk right by the host I guess you can sit anywhere" I was done needless to say. If I did walk pass the host, its not her job to get nasty with me after all she does not assist in paying my bill by my money is a contributor to hers and the business. He was inattentive and when asked about a item I had ordered that didn't come out with the other appetizers his response was " what about it" I was blown away. Beer battered fish should actually be battered, not breaded. Fries should have some crunch to them, not just barely not raw. I came to loafers for a huge celebration, which consisted of about 45 people who took up the majority of restaurant's main dining area. To my surprise, there was only one server assigned to the entire party, and the server also had other tables to wait on. I'm not sure of their process for large parties, but the the one I experienced was a hot mess. We didn't get drinks for 40+ minutes -- the waitress just could not keep up with the volume of orders being placed. I wasn't mad at the server, but I did expect her to be a little apologetic about the process. She knew it was out of her control and acted as such the entire time, rarely offering reassurance that food was cooking or apologizing for forgetting drinks. It took almost an hour for a house salad to come out. With all of that said, the food was very good when it finally arrived at the table. I have been to Loafers a couple of times now and I always had mixed feelings about this place but now it's tipping toward the unfavorable side. The food is great but the service is spotty. Sometimes, it's good but my most recent visit was not the greatest. I tried to be understandable about it being the servers first week but she would disappear when she was needed and messed our checks up. I was overcharged for a drink and it took her a while to fix it, mainly because she felt it was more important to text than work. I caught her a couple of times texting while making it look like she was putting orders into the system. The drinks are expensive and not even worth it. For a casual sports bar, I don't understand why the drinks are so pricey. Some drinks make more sense to order as a bucket because the price of the regular size was a waste, especially when the bucket holds more drink. Also, they didn't charge cover in the past so why is there a cover at 9pm? I mean, I understand it gets live later at night on the weekends and they have a dj but it's a restaurant.
