Dramatic, but honestly? This place brought him back to life. I ordered the miga plate, and it came out so fast I barely had time to open my Yelp app. The migas were cheesy and comforting, the beans tasted like someone's grandma still supervises them, and the papas were the kind of perfectly seasoned little bites that make you rethink every sad potato you've ever eaten. Kaden got the waffle, eggs, and bacon -- because apparently we were doing both Mexico and Waffle House energy in one sitting -- and his plate looked just as good. Everything was hot, fresh, and made with actual pride, not the "we're just trying to survive the lunch rush" energy you get at some places. The chips and salsa? Dangerous. The red salsa had a smoky kick, and the green sauce was bright and addictive. I kept telling myself "last chip," and then immediately betrayed myself. Service was quick, the vibe was relaxed, and the food was the kind of authentic Mexican cooking that doesn't need neon signs or gimmicks. This review was written on the third day that Lo Nuestro de Mexico has been open in its new location. Most restaurants have problems in the first two to four weeks. Lo Nuestro de Mexico is still working through some opening-week difficulties. The air conditioning system is leaking water all over the back left corner of the restaurant. Management had to close that corner off. They seem to be nicely set up with a large table service staff. They may be short on help in the kitchen. Wait times for even simple dishes were quite long. There is a sign on the door saying "Please Be Patient. All of Our Food is Homecooked to Order." To be fair, the customer response to Lo Nuestro de Mexico has been fantastic. At lunch on a Wednesday, the restaurant was absolutely jammed. I don't think management planned on having THAT MANY meals to have to prepare all at once. The cable TV service has not started yet, meaning sitting at the bar means looking at two blank screens and a not particularly scenic wall. With the heavy customer load, the bartender is very busy. This means dirty glasses from former customers sit on the bar for a long time looking gross. * * * Not counting start-up difficulties there are both good and bad features to Lo Nuestro de Mexico. Ultimately, this is going to be a good place, but here are some more enduring plusses and minusses. a) Minus. My chips were stale. How can a restaurant only open for three days have stale chips? b) Plus. Their chorizo tacos are fantastic. They use great chorizo and do fine tortillas. A real winner here. c) Plus. Salsas are good. d) A matter of taste. The cook here likes to cook chicharrones by braising them and then serving them with crema. Some people like moist long-cooked chicharrones. My own opinion is that braised chicharrones are soggy and lose that great pork crackling taste. I like them sauteed or deep-fried. So you will either love or hate the chicharrones here. e) THE FURNITURE HERE IS FANTASTIC. On a pure interior decorating basis, Lo Nuestro de Mexico gets 11 on a scale from 1-10. Each chair has a photo-realistic paint job of 1960's style Mexican posters or popular art. They apply the same style to straight up Western art as well. (Cowboys, ranchers, etc.) All chairs have the same picture on their front and their back which is different from the pictures on the other chairs. They must have nearly 100 chairs here, and they have maybe four repeats - meaning there are ninety-six different painted chair designs. Each of the tables has a photo-realist paint job as well of pictures different from those on the chairs. You stand at one end of the room and you look at all those different super-detailed painted chairs and the view is absolutely breath-taking. They supplement the painted chairs with lots of colored paper cutouts hanging from the ceiling - while outside the restaurant they have colored banners advertising the dishes they've got. The result is a wild display of color that is absolutely dazzling. * * * Even if the food were to be terrible, I would want to eat here a lot just to look at the chairs. However, right now, a lot of the food is pretty good. I expect it will get even better over time as the kitchen staff fills out. Overall, I have high hopes for this place. read more

I used to be a big fan, great food but poor service with the new waiter and waitress. I felt totally ignored while the table across from me was waited on hand to foot. The waiter felt it was necessary to add his own tip to my credit card. The management does not care about you. I called and they wouldn't even talk to me personally. We left $4 on the table and he added more to my credit card. I think the waiter was the owners son. It is a shame for such a good restaurant to treat people differently based on personal preferences. read more

Arrived at 9:10am and 30mins later food finally arrived. The place was mostly empty. The Waitress told there was a lot of ToGo orders and there was nothing she could do. When food finally arrived my husband chorizo was burnt and his second taco was incorrect. read more

Oh, this couple is so fantastic. Irma is the owner, along with her husband (I don't remember his name). We used their taco truck for our wedding, and they drove out to our farm and wowed EVERYBODY with their food. We did a pre-ordered menu of carnitas, chicken fajitas, rice, beans, flour and corn tortillas, salsas and pico. Everything was just so freaking good. Hot, delicious, wonderfully spiced. The price was outrageously awesome, and they were super sweet to all our guests. I can't recommend them highly enough. Use their truck for a party, go to their restaurant, tell your friends. When they was at the old location the food and service was great. But since they've moved. The service is slow. When I mean slow. We ordered a cheese enchilada and a cheese puff and a grilled cheese sandwich. It took 45 minutes to get to us. I know there's a sign on the door that says be patient everything is homemade. But damn. It also seems it's lost the hole in the wall charm that was in the old place. Food is ok. But not like it used to be. read more

Parking lot was packed. Thought, "Hey this must be the best place in town." Chips and salsa were awesome!!! And that's where it ended. At the restaurant for over 2 1/2 hours!!! Food was meh Husband ordered fajitas and it took us asking 3 times and 20 minutes before we got tortillas. It seemed so promising. Kitchen seemed to send out 1 dish at a time and staff didn't seem to know anything about the dishes. Also, had to continually ask for our sides. My side of guac was prob 1 teaspoon worth. I was really hoping after they had been opened in the new location about a month it would get better. But alas, not yet. Went in there this evening with my kiddos and ordered a margarita and dessert, the desserts came out before I even got margarita. I had to ask someone 2 times after my initial order about my drink. Then, unfortunatley after receiving my drink I sent it back because I did not like it at all. Also, I ordered 2 orders of churros and only received one. This place makes me sad. The decor and interior are fantastic. That's the only reason I gave them two stars. The service is non existent. Only three people working and only one of them had a vague idea of what to do. Waited a good 20 minutes before we even got chips and drinks. Ordered queso and watched a staff member bring it out and set it down on another table. The one person that knew what to do corrected her and she then proceeded to pick it up from the first table and try to leave it at ours. NOPE! When the food did come out of the kitchen the waiters seemed not to know what table it was supposed to go to. The food was awful. Meat burnt and turned into shoe leather and zero seasoning on everything. Don't bother with this place. It's not worth the effort. read more

Today, August 15, 2020. First time I've been here since they closed their previous location. Last time I was here was probably June 2019. My husband and I love going for their Tripe Tortas, very good big and great priced. Well today we had a craving and stopped to order to go...smelled good all the way home. Then we sat down to eat...first taste was chewyyy. Tripe was overcooked but naturally with the heat it could've been crunchy and just got soggy on the way home. Well it was also really bland, I ordered 4 tripe tacos. My husband however got the torta, I asked for queso fresco instead of grated monterrey as well as avocado, which the guy told me came with it and sour cream...well there was no avocado, they didn't put the cheese i asked, the torta bun was burnt on all sides, overcooked tripe with no flavor just chewy, lettuce pieces that were bad. Maybe a teaspoon of sour cream. Needless to say won't be coming back here again. read more

Just happened to drive past this place from the highway crossing a small town - and wish we could just lift this spot and drop it in San Antonio for the very best bean/cheese breakfast taco I've ever had! I can't believe my luck in the randomness of that morning - gave it a shot, walked in to a cozy, homey Mexican diner, and ended up ordering that taco with a Big Red. If it wasn't for the four or five hour drive, I'd definitely stop by again and again to try everything else. Not for nothing as far as reviews go, but if you happen to be driving by, STOP and drop some coin here - help the local economy and your appetite. read more

Hands down the best Mexican food in Caldwell!! I love that I can go here and order tripas or lengua!! Call me odd but I love those strong authentic Hispanic "meats" that others consider garbage! Here, they know how to prepare it!!! My husband and his coworkers make this place their morning stop Monday through Friday! The menudo on Saturday is AMAZING! THEY HAVE MOVED....and have a full restaurant and bar! Where to start - the new restaurant is beautifully decorated inside and out. Very bright and colorful. It makes you feel as if you are on vacation. The staff is attentive and friendly. Eduardo is our favorite but to be fair we have known him for awhile. He makes the best margaritas ever! Now to get to the important part - the food. Everything is home made. The tortillas are made every day. You can taste the flavor. My husband ordered the chipotle shrimp and loved every bite. As a conisiour of hot and spicey food he said it was the best shrimp he has ever had. The flavor went through every piece of shrimp. I had the garlic shrimp. It was delicious with just a hint of heat which was perfect for me. I loved the charro beans which came with the dish. They were smokey and full of flavor. We were passing through town and wanted some Mexican food. I checked yelp reviews and saw all the great reviews on this restaurant. So we decided to stop. Didn't care too much for the hard chips and the salsa was not our favorite either. When the food came my tacos were good not great just good. But my wife had to send her chicken nachos back. The chicken was like rubber. It was bad that's all that there was to it. Not fit to eat. I don't think we caught thim on a bad day I just believe this is the way it is here. The food was not cold but the plates were so my taco did not stay warm long. But on the good side the place did seem very clean. read more

Ate breakfast here based on recommendation by the gal in the office at Brazos Valley RV Park and ratings on yelp. Probably would not have stopped if we had just driven by. Glad we stopped. My bacon, egg & cheese breakfast taco was great, wrapped in a huge homemade tortilla. Hash browns were crispy. Hubby had biscuit & gravy special. Biscuits were fluffy, gravy had good flavor and bacon was crispy. Lots of locals eating here on a Friday morning. We will recommend this place to the rest of our camping group. read more
