We came to see a friend that was playing live music here. (Of course he was awesome!!!) The place is what you would expect for an irish bar/restaurant (not really fine dining), but the food was very fresh and hot, and the beers were cold so no complaints here. The place has a great upbeat vibe inside and a nice covered patio. read more

I frequent this location of Llywelyn's pub and will continue to do so. Each visit is different, but the service has always been fantastic. I have been in for lunches and dinners at both busy times and not so busy times so I can pretty much say that the service seems to be very consistent and reliable. There are a lot of solid options on the food menu and every now and then they have a special menu (during lent). I have ordered sandwiches (love the grilled cheese), main dishes, and classic dishes. Their fish and chips is a staple and always comes out piping hot with crispy fish and fries. I don't think I have ever made a mistake with my food order since I pretty much enjoy everything when I visit. I especially enjoy their pub fries (they are my favorite) as a snack and I have no shame when I order them while enjoying a drink at the bar. Food, service and location are always "as good as it gets" and I will continue to enjoy my visits! I even joined their loyalty program since I'm there so often. read more

Six of us arrived at 5pm for an early dinner and sat outside to enjoy the beautiful weather. We were greeted right away and drink orders were taken, upon returning with our drinks food order was taken. Four of us had white chicken chilli, which was thick and delicious. Two of us had the chicken salad sandwich on multi- grain croissant excellent! One each, Shepherd pie, Fish and chips, Chicken strips and fire, and Reuben sandwich. Everyone enjoyed everything. The waiter was friendly, efficient and engaging. Our check was 65.00 dollars for two of us. I gave him 100.00 dollars and let him keep the change. I am glad I don't choose this place for my work birthday lunch. I am unsure why we keep going there. Must be for something someone else likes. This is the second time in a long time I have been back and this went worse than before. There were about 20 of of, yes, they knew we were coming. I ordered a flatbread. Others more complicated things. Mine came out last - almost as an after thought. Then when ti did come out it was cold. Sort of missed-the-heat-lamp cold. I sent it back but by the time I got it reheated (not a new one) everyone else was done. So was I. The last few trips to Llywelyn's have been a real disappointment. Today's wait for food was over one hour from order to table and ultimately received a burger overcooked on the outside and raw on the inside. The last time I was there we waited 15 minutes for drink orders. Prior to that, I had a similar experience with a extremely long wait for food. Bartenders are always great and work very hard, however everything else is not working well. It will be a long time before I return for food or anything other than a drink at the bar. read more

Stopped by for a quick bite to eat on our way to another venue. My husband and I decided to split the Caesar salad and a burger. The salad was a pitiful representation of a Caesar salad and a poor form of any salad!! Lots of brown lettuce, almost no dressing, no croutons but a piece of stale bread instead. It was almost laughable it was so bad. The price was 10.99! This should be taken off the menu. No brown salad should be served in any salads! Where do I start...the hostess was not friendly, almost rude, and the table was sticky. Not sure if it was due to being dirty or just old unsealed wood. Either way, it felt nasty! I ordered the fish and fries, with the shoestring fries. I asked for the fries to be extra crispy, they were not crispy nor were they hot, they were barely room temperature. UPDATE- I reached out to the email provided in the response to my review and have not heard anything back. What a surprise. Came here for a late lunch/early dinner and it was quite literally the worst food I've had in a while. I got the fish and chips and my boyfriend got The Llewelyn burger. Both of them were terrible. The burger had two toppings/ rarebit and fried onion straws. As soon as he took a bite of his burger he started removing the onion straws because they were absolutely stale. He told the waitress that they were stale she said "oh okay I'll tell them." Then returned and offered him "raw onions or something else". I'm not sure how that's supposed to make up for the fact that one of two toppings on this burger is STALE. I tried em, it was fairly obvious they were made days ago. The fish and chips had no flavor. None. It tasted like it had been magically injected with water. The tartar sauce was also runny. The dish was also supposed to come with mushy peas. We asked about getting the mushy peas and the responses was - "oh most people don't get it so it gets left off sometimes". One/ I didn't ask you to leave it off; Two/Then why the hell is it in the description for the dish; Three/we specifically asked if the mushy peas had mint in them when we placed the Don't call yourself a pub if you can't get a burger and fish and chips right. Solely the result of a truly great and seasoned bartender, Melissa. #promoteher Visited the Webster location for the first time after having visited most other Llywelyns locations in the STL area. Upon first impression the decor was on par and the vibes felt good. Hostess quoted us 20 minutes for a table so we grabbed a drink at the bar.... 40 minutes later I went to the hostess stand to check on our table and was told there was one party in front of us. An hour after arriving we were finally seated by the curt hostess who quickly scurried off. After looking over the menu for several minutes we were informed (by the bartender, not the hostess that seated us) that our table was bar service only. I've worked the service industry for many years and I feel for the workers who are under-appreciated and understaffed but transparency goes a long way. Be honest with me about my wait time and my dinning expectations and give me the opportunity to seek service elsewhere or wait it out knowingly. read more

I've been a steady visitor to Llywelyn's for a few years. It's always on point for a casual bite of pub food. Wings and sweet potato fries are a steady Wednesday night tradition with friends. We added artichoke dip last night and those deep fried pita wedges stopped my heart in a few ways. I'm sure I could make healthier choices here... but.. why? Service can be hit or miss, especially late when staff is feeling relaxed after the dinner rush is over. read more

It pains me to give a less than stellar review for one of my favorite places which is on my regular rotation. We were there for a Sunday lunch, sat in the bar at the high tops and ordered our food. Llywelyn's isn't fast-at least not the one in WG but on this particular Sunday they hit a new standard for slow. We waited for 45 minutes plus....before our order arrived. The Bartender who took our order brought some chips and cheese sauce since it was taking so long-she offered that the kitchen was running behind but left our drinks unfilled. Our favorite bartender never misses a refill and is great at service-thanks Laura!! I was sad to hear that the tater-tots were discontinued during our menu review. Our food was average, less than it used to be with portions on the smaller side since we've been last. Com'on Lew's! Time to get back on point! read more

First off I must say that the service comes to you with a smile. Maddie our bartender was amazing and knew the menu perfectly. I ordered the shepherds pie, of course because I am at an Irish pub right? It was amazing and twice the amount of food that I would need...and I'm not a small mate. Really terrible salad alert! I guess maybe that's what I get for ordering a salad when everyone else got burgers, but I've had some really good salads in my day. A small group of us went in for lunch and it was really empty... probably just a few other tables in the whole place. It was basically a standard pub experience and we had drinks right away and put in our orders. Mine? The cobb salad. Simple, right? I was starving so you can imagine how disappointed I was with what came out. Wilted iceberg lettuce, brown mushrooms a few days too old, shredded cheddar cheese (just sad), and turkey that was very wet and salty and tasted like it came out of a prepacked can. It was the most depressing salad I've ever eaten and I totally had food envy over the burgers & chicken flatbread at my table... I ended up getting a sandwich from Subway afterwards just because I needed something in my poor stomach! The service was really, really slow too which made it even more painful. We were there for an hour and 30 minutes and our server was MIA quite a few times. Lesson learned: when at a pub, eat pub food. Don't go near the salads. I should know this by now but just needed that one last bad Irish pub salad experience to really drive the point home. read more

Doin' the lent thang! Llyewlyn's Pub is definitely not my scene. The Webster Groves spot is the third location that I've visited, and the neighborhood kind of defines my perception of the place. The Soulard location doesn't really fit as well because there's just so many better places to patronize. However, it fits really well in the Central West End and Webster Groves. For us Catholics, it is currently Lent, that means we are prompted to eat fish on Friday. Don't ask. I don't know! My friend had been asking me almost every week to eat at Red Lobster, and it just doesn't interest me. When he mentioned Llywelyn's Pub, I felt like that would be a definite upgrade. Is it a pub or a warehouse? This location is cavernous. It has a bar side, restaurant area, and another bar side! On a good night, I bet this place could hold hundreds of people. As far as adult beverages, all Llywelyn's locations have a pretty nice beer selection. However, I am cheap and always looking for a special. They had some two dollar options, which worked for me! I ordered a two dollar PBR and waited for my friends. The bar was a little understaffed for lunch. They had two bartender handling the enormous bar, and they were also waiting on the tables surrounding the bar. For a Friday lunch during March Madness, I thought that the staff was awfully light. For the Catholic during Lent, Llywelyn's had some decent options. Also, they had a special, the shrimp po boy! One friend ordered a fish sandwich, and my other friend and I ordered the special. The meal prices are all around ten dollars and more, but the special was just $7.25! Also, the shrimp sandwich was large and very delicious. As a hangout, most Llywelyn's locations would get around three stars. I wouldn't go out of my way to hang there, but I wouldn't go kicking and screaming. The Webster Groves spot is probably three stars, but Friday was an experience worth fandom. read more

Went to try the Buffalo Chicken Club and have a drink. Service was great, very cool atmosphere. The Buffalo Chicken was par. They put Arugula lettuce on it which is different and not my favorite. They chicken breast itself was small portion and not the most flavor. It's good and worth they try, but far better around town. read more

First time visiting, brought the family, 3 kids, and met extended family. The staff was super friendly, the service was fantastic, the food was great!!! They had the cardinals game going outside, the music was a solid choice! I will definitely be back when I come back in town. Rented the pub room for a karaoke party and it was a top notch experience! Highly recommend! Melissa the events coordinator was super responsive and helpful. She answered emails and questions promptly. The room rental paperwork was easy and the food/drink options were well priced. There was no time limit for the room rental, which other venues had. Here were we're able to rent from 7pm-close which was great because no one wants to break up a good party!We were able to check out the space the week before the party to make sure our karaoke set up would work. We arrived 1 hour before party and there were 2 staff there waiting to help us set everything up. The food was ready and our two bartenders Kelsey and Samson were amazing. The party was a hit and everyone ate and drank and sang their hearts out. I could not be happier. We will DEF be back next year! Thank you Melissa and crew! read more

Llewelyn's is one of those spots that you know is there, has been there forever but you always forget about. A friends band was playing one night there and we decided to venture out. The parking lot was packed, as that area always is, so we knew it was going to be a good time. Found a spot and inside was packed as well. Luckily our friend had grabbed a table for us and we settled in for the hockey game, football games and the band. It took awhile for the waitress to realize there was new people at the table but she took our order and got us our drinks. She didn't seem too happy that weren't starting with alcohol but that really shouldn't hinder the service she could have given. We had to flag her down for our refills, as well as the alcohol refills that others at our table wanted. Luckily though our appetizer came out fresh and hot. Could have used some more pita for the dip but since she wasn't coming around as much we couldn't get her attention. She ended up getting cut for the evening and someone else took her tables. He did a lot more running around than she did and made sure we all were happy and we saw him a lot more than the other. I will certainly be back as we do enjoy the place but I wouldn't cut your staff especially on high volume nights with a band because the more you have, the better service will be. read more

Get the pub burger with soft cheese on an English muffin or the Guiness stew, and you can't go wrong. Lots of beer choices to choose from as well. They have a patio out front when the weather is nice, and half of the place is for large groups and private parties while the other half is for the public. read more

The bar side being separate from the restaurant is a nice touch so you can have kiddos there without being in the bar. However, it's just not great food. For appetizers and beers, or a late night drink in the neighborhood, it's great. But overall, it's not top of our list. read more

Update: Melissa the bartender is seriously awesome!! She saved our night. Sadly the worst STL location. Hostess informed us upon arrival 20 minute wait for a table; we waited 55 minutes. When we were finally sat, we waited another 15 minutes before the bartender informed us the table we were put at was bar service only. So not only did we wait for over an hour but the hostess incorrectly sat us at a table that wouldn't even get service, which would have been fine but we were not waiting over an hour for it. The only redeeming part of the experience was the wonderful hardworking bartender. I will be sticking to the Soulard and Wildwood locations for the future. read more

Brit looking for fish and chips was recommended this place. Ok so this is an English pub and restaurant, the server recommended the burger ! Fish was perfectly cooked and not much of it. Batter wasn't that great though. Plated on lettuce and spinach ! With mushy peas and had seasoned fries. Most annoyingly the waiter because he knew I was British kept coming back to me asking if I liked it. The four hands brown ale was excellent though. We're big fans of Llewelyn's and have been frequent guests at the CWE location before moving to Webster. We love the casual pub atmosphere and the TVs during hockey season. My only complaint is the service, which is so slow it should be criminal. Somehow, no matter where we sit in the restaurant we always end up with the same server. She disappears for long periods of time and we are left with long waits between drinks with empty glasses on the table. During our last trip, we waited with empty drinks for over 15 minutes without seeing her, and had to go to the bar to get service. If you're lucky enough to snag a seat at the bar, you can expect fast friendly service. The next time we're visiting we will not be staying if there are not bar stools available. read more

I'm giving two stars because the catering food and private room were great. Baked Brie, cheese plate, meatballs, and more items that you cannot order on the restaurant menu-those were all delicious. The restaurant seems to be very accommodating and friendly to large groups and that is a plus as well. And now on to the restaurant, which is why this review has only two stars. The food on the menu is subpar. The "locally made" pretzels are served cold, with cold queso dip. There was nothing delicious about it. With so many local restaurants making great pretzels in house, it doesn't make sense to have pretzels brought in if they don't even taste good, and aren't even sold hot. When ordering a burger the preferred temperature was not asked and arrived rather grey. I ordered the pot roast and I requested to leave off the peas and carrots. I was told by the waitperson that the peas and carrots came "cooked in the gravy, mushrooms, and pot roast all together" So I said that was fine. The dish arrived, and it was quite obvious that the vegetables were placed on the plate, THEN the mashed potatoes on top of them, THEN the pot roast and gravy. Additionally, the peas were cold and in water, and the carrots were raw. My fork would not pierce the carrots AT ALL. I did let my waitperson know that the vegetables were indeed separate from the gravy and pot roast, and that they were raw. She told me I was wrong, that the carrots and peas were cooked in the gravy and pot roast. She did ask me if I wanted to order something different, which didn't sound at all appetizing after my experience with the available food I had already tried. (I have also tried the sweet potato fries- high we're very dry and crunchy-in a bad way, and the fish and chips-the fish was dry, with an overcooked and oily batter) At the end of the night, (after paying and leaving a 27% tip) I spoke with the waitperson again, and I told them that the vegetables were separate. They told me that was "impossible because the food comes in a giant plastic bag from 'commissary' and it's all mixed up" So the takeaway for me is that much of the food isn't made at the restaurant-resulting in subpar food, the wait staff isn't really sure how the food is prepared and gets defensive when asked about it, and too many of the menu items are just not good. I wanted to like this restaurant and gave it several chances. I'm not happy to leave negative reviews on restaurants. I do however, believe this is an accurate review. read more
