The food is great, the beer selection was very good and the ambiance is lots of fun. Homemade chips with Welsh rarebit sauce is the real deal. I am still tasting that sauce and want to go back to it. I greatly enjoyed their Sheperd's pie - it was a very generous portion and very flavorful. Their burgers were awesome, and the Reuben sandwich was really impressive. Our entire party had a great time - good food, good drink selection, good service. I do have some negative comments, but their food and beer selection definitely make up for them. If you choose to sit outside, like we did, be prepared for hordes of smokers coming out of the main restaurant and hovering around your table smoking and bumping into you. So - ask for a table away from the entrance if you don't want smokers around you, but even after we asked to be reseated, the smokers would come out and sit at random empty adjacent tables to smoke a cigarette and hand out before going back inside the bar part. I will probably ask for clarification before being seated next time, as I despise smoking when I am trying to eat, and hate having my hair and clothes smell like second hand smoke. Second - parking was hard to come by on a Saturday night. I think I may have unknowingly parked illegally in a lot that was dubiously marked, but don't think I had any other options at the time. I'll definitely go back for the food and drinks, but will definitely plan my seating option to avoid being swarmed by smokers. read more

I just had a surprise birthday party here ! There were about 20-25 of us and our waitress was fantastic she never got frazzled and she never missed anything she was great! And of course they had my favorite beer Smithwick's and even though it was a Thursday night the place was hopping and of course the food was great ! The Ruben was amazing with the pumpernickel bread with sauerkraut and corned beef, it was so delicious ! The homemade chips are fantastic! Overall it was fantastic and it made it even more special , was we had our own little area in the back. What a great birthday party! Llywelyn's in Webster is a good place, but it seems like they just can't "put it all together". The location and the layout of the building are great. It's a big place so there is plenty of room to move around and not feel on top of each other. The atmosphere is great. However, I have been there and had mediocre food. I have also been there and had very good food. I have been there and had good service, but I have also been there and had spotty service. I went there on a Thursday night which is their "Irish Beer Special" night which they offer pints of Guinness for $3, but they were out of Guinness (and other beers as well). read more

My friend and I, both former food servers, had lunch there. The waitresses were very friendly but the service was incredibly slow. I ordered the Rachel Sandwich with skinny fries. The fries came in a glob and the sandwich was missing a key ingredient---the 1000 Island dressing. In addition, the grilled bread was so dry and harsh it actually scraped my throat going down. When I politely brought my complaints to the waitress, she took away the sandwich and returned with a check with the bill marked just for my iced tea-$3. With nary a comment. She also dumped a to-go box and a separate bill on my companion's side of the table and no comment. We ended up paying at the bar since she never came back to collect our money. read more

I get to this location on a regular basis. The space is huge and they have an "event" room that you can rent out. It's a nice space that nearly doubles the bar and is nice to have on crowded nights. I like the fact that they have two bars, and recently (mid 2010), a new menu. I have only had a couple of items on the new menu and was pleased. There is usually live music on the weekends and open mic night on Wednesday nights. I get here regularly and cannot complain about service although I do hear others complain that the bartending service at times can be slow. read more

Great staff and great food. The atmosphere is comfortable and you have choices, you can sit in a quiet area or near the band that's usually playing. Homemade chips with malt vinegar are the best part. It's also a great place to have a group event, we've had several team parties there in the private rooms. Llywelyn's used to be a go-to for me in Webster. However, they recently revamped their menu and took off many of their best items. I used to always get the buffalo chicken wrap, and there are no wraps to be seen now. We also went one time recently around 10:00, and they had a VERY limited late-night menu (surprised at only 10:00 on a Saturday night). The last time we went, their service was awful. Finally the waiter brought us complimentary pub chips to tide us over. Unfortunately we won't be back anytime soon--the food isn't worth the price. read more

This was my third time eating at Llywelyn's Pub. My party of three had the Adult Toasted Cheese sandwiches with fries & slaw as well as their Fish & Pub Chips. Awesome food as always...great taste & decently sized portions. However, our server, Jamey (do not know last name), had other things on her mind & gave us & her two additional tables poor service. The pub was not busy, but she was too intent on speaking with a table with two guys then ensuring we were satisfied or had our needs met. We had to call her over to our table three times; two times for drink refills & one time to get the check. This was after I had to stare at her for several minutes before she acknowledged our table. Not only did she not monitor us but she never visited her two other tables. we had been at Llewlyn's at busier times & received much better service. read more

Worst service I've had in my life. First visit I waited over an hour for a beer and to order my food. Second visit I was served incorrect beer twice and they didn't even have the beer they advertised on their website that I made a special trip for. Food is decent if you are able to order it, but pricey. Only worth stopping in for limited release beers, but make sure to call first to make sure they actually have it. read more

Went as part of an event. This low review is not about the mistake, but about the way it was handled. The waitress spilled a huge tray of drinks on my husband. Ok, I get it, I've been a waitress and it's not the end of the world. But we were having an ongoing party meal ordering more drinks and appetizers, and we talked to the manager about comping the cost of getting the suit cleaned, and he was very rude, claimed it wasn't the restaurants fault, and comped only the cheapest appetizer on our table's order. We stopped ordering at that point, paid for the rest, and left the restaurant. The food was good in itself, but I wouldn't return based on the actions of the general manager. read more

Last night I went to Llywelyn's for the first time and I am not sure if I will go back to this location. The service was pretty bad. We were there for several hours and hardly ever saw our waitress (she could have been really busy - no big deal) but when a friend of mine wanted to order a snack we had to ask another waitress to come over. The rotten part of the night was that the waitress that we spoke to, since ours was missing, was extremely rude. She talked to my friend like she was stupid for not knowing who the waitress was that was supposed to be working our section and sighed heavily and rolled her eyes when my friend asked what kind of desserts were on the menu. It made us very uncomfortable. Having waitstaff experience myself, I understand what it is like to be busy and serve difficult people, but we were in no way being difficult and this behavior was out of place. Not cool. read more

Absolutely great experience here. While it took a little time before the server found his way to my table, once he did it was smooth sailing. Food came out reasonably fast, and was delicious. Had the Monarch burger with sweet potato waffle fries, and every last bite was delicious. The waiter was also very keen to keep my drink refilled and was much appreciated. This is the second time in the last couple months we've gotten takeout burgers from the Webster location. The first time, both burgers were medium rare (we ordered medium well). Totally gross, unacceptable- but maybe it a fluke, maybe it was someone new on the line.... who knows but we were willing to forgive and give another chance. So tonight we are tired and don't want to cook so we give the burgers another chance. And mine, medium to medium well first couple bites, but most of the burger was very very pink. Completely unacceptable for a line cook, expo, and management to let burgers like this leave the restaurant this often. We will not return to this restaurant. I guess I'll start with the good. Their fish and chips are good. With that said, I can find as good or better elsewhere. On to the bad. I've been here a number of times, and typically found the service to be slow and inattentive. True story: the quickest I've ever been served a beer was when I accidentally ordered a beer from someone who wasn't actually our server. I have found that their draft beer "menu" is more of a rough estimate of the beers they might have, rather than a definitive list of the beers they do have. It's pretty common that if most of my group of friends (generally 4-6 people) orders a beer, at least one of us will have to re-order because their list contains a beer they no longer have. So, Pro Tip: if you're seated at a table, have a backup beer in mind (like the Schlafly Brown Dragon, because they always have that) if you want to maximize your chances of having an actual beer in front of you before you're left wondering, "Why don't I have a beer yet?" Now, I can understand running out of things. That happens in a business. Still, this happens way too often and is pretty frustrating. So, you may be wondering why I keep going to this place if I have so many complaints. That's simple. My friends and I generally came here weekly (and spent money) because we enjoyed doing trivia here on Sunday nights. It was fun. Unfortunately, Llywelyn's Webster Groves has decided to end Sunday night trivia. The result of this is that my friends and I no longer have a reason or desire to come back to this establishment. read more

Stars rating is for the atmosphere, beer selection and friendly owners. Expect relatively slow service, but who cares when you've got such a great beer selection. The Webster location can get very hot in the summer, but it's a great place to hang out and get pub food that's better than your typical pub fare (and priced higher than typical pub fare, too). Order the homemade chips. Lounge in the soft seats and couches on either side of this expanded location and hook up with old friends. Sit out on the patio when the weather's warm enough. My family & I were having an enjoyable night until we got to Llywelyn's. We knew we would have to wait a little bit longer than usual because we had a bigger group but we weren't expecting to wait over an hour to be seated at 8 pm on a Monday. They were not overly busy & there were tables available, I guess they were just too lazy to clean them off...it was almost as if they wished we would leave so they didn't have to serve us. In fact, other parties were walking in & right back out because the hostess was no where to be found. We gave them the benefit of the doubt though & waited it out. The server proceeds to tell us they are out of multiple food items after we had just waited over an hour before sitting down. It also took an hour to get our food & unfortunately the majority of it was cold or not the right order. Our server barely waited on us , was not friendly & was nowhere to be found for the 3 hours we spent there. You would think they would have a sense of urgency & extra hospitality considering the circumstances but both of those were non existent. I will never go back to this place ever again & I do not recommend it to anyone else. I would give this place 0/5 stars if I could. read more
