I came here looking for dresses for both the mother of the bride and the mother of the groom, and after visiting four other stores, this place was the winner. I messaged them on Saturday asking about appointments for the next day and they squeezed us in, which was such a relief. They spent real time with us and the moms tried on so many dresses. My mom usually struggles to shop because of her height and weight, but they had options for her here and she felt amazing. Every dress that was handed to me came along with a "So this one isn't going to fit you" or "I know this isn't the style/color you wanted" comment. The shop owner suggested I buy a dress in my size from the online catalogue, then come back to try it on at a later date. I asked if I could return/exchange the dress if it didn't fit or I didn't like it, and was told "unfortunately no". I don't know too many people willing to buy a $300+ dress with no guarantee it will fit nor the opportunity to return it. my experience at this place wasn't good what's so ever. i came in looking for bridesmaids dress shopping for my sister wedding and expressed that to the lady helping me. she proceeded to give me a very inappropriate dress for my age group. i expressed to them multiple times about things i didn't feel comfortable in and didn't want in my dress and than they proceeded to give dresses of the exact same thing. also prices were through the roof. the dresses were basically full polyester which I could've gotten off temu if i really wanted to. overall the service was horrible and the workers weren't the nicest the workers made me very uncomfortable in the dressing room. i do not recommend this place at all. read more

Joy ruined our whole experience. Our goal was to find bridesmaid dresses that had a different cut but same color. We understand that this is difficult because of different makers and fabrics but we were recommended this place by another business and wanted to give it a chance. We were helped and measured by very kind employees but when we got to the fitting rooms things took a turn. Me and my sister were assigned dressing rooms and a person to help us zip up and mine happened to be Joy. We tried on two dresses and they were fine but the colors didn't quite match- as expected so we were discussing that. When Joy heard this- she did not want to allow my sister to try on another dress because I did not have one that matched that color. When my sister explained that she wanted to see how the cut looked on her Joy lost it and said we were using her and not buying dresses. This was also odd because I asked Joy for something modest and she had me try on a dress with a revealing thigh slit and a deep v neck line that wasn't even in the colors we were looking for after saying all that stuff to my sister. She accused us of not being serious shoppers, argued with all three of us and even complained about my sister to me when we were alone in the changing room and made me extremely uncomfortable. So unprofessional. Long story short- avoid Joy at all costs. She's not looking to help you, just looking for you to pay and get out of the store. We ended up having our Pretty Women moment though when we spent over $1000 on other dresses at a store just down the street. read more

They require appointments but that is what made my daughter's experience so special, we had the full attention of Joel (owner) and his team. We chose several dresses that the team pulled quickly for us in my daughter's size. We had a helper, Katelyn, who helped to tie, zip and adjust my daughter in each dress she tried on. Once we narrowed the choices down, Joel pulled up the color palettes of each dress. Once my daughter made her choice we ordered and paid with efficiency. This was our first visit to Lizzie G Formals and based on this experience we will definitely be return customers! We had to make an appointment to respect Covid guidelines which was excellent. When we entered we rang the bell and were greeted right away! It was myself my daughter and her boyfriend. We were greeted by the son who is co-owner with the mother and proprietor of the dress shop. The greeting was kind and sincere, we felt right at home immediately. I will admit it was overwhelming with all the dresses and styles were not separated per se but that didn't stop us from finding the perfect match! They allowed us to take her time walk through the dresses there every step of the way for help and questions! Joy measured my daughter and we had great conversations this part far as goals and fit. She was very attentive to my daughter in the dressing room helping her get in and out of the garments which I found awesome! Not only the one on one attention but I'm sure they preserve the quality of the garments that way as well. What was also super cool, is that they took notes of where she went to high school. Ensuring that that particular dress would not be sold to another individual in the same color. So you're not going to have a situation or at least your decreasing the likelihood of two girls having the same dress in the same color. That was above and beyond. One of my favorite new shows, "Timeless" finally re-appeared for their second season last night - and they'd traveled to "Old Hollywood." It's actually Joy and her son who run the store. They aren't even "officially" open yet and prom dress-seekers were already a-flurry in the fitting rooms. Wow, have prom dresses gotten "less poofy!" since the late '80s. Whether you're prom-shopping, bridesmaid-dress shopping, LBD-shopping, or just desperately-seeking-sequins ;-), I have no doubt you should give Joy a shout. (Note: they don't offer actual bridal gowns.) I shopped dresses across price-points, colors, fabrics, styles - quite an impressive selection. They also stock shoes and accessories. They haven't a tailor on-site - it's more "off the rack". They're still putting finishing touches around the shop - their daughter is an artist and she's custom-making a beautiful countertop for their checkout area. This place has so many options, it was overwhelming at first. Heads up no bags in the store but they have a locker area to store it. Ms. Joy and her team were patient and made suggestions for dresses I may like, their suggestions were beautiful. You do have to make an appointment to try on the dresses. I was able to take pictures of the dresses that I wanted to try on and they do assist with assembling the dress so nothing happens to the dress. This review is based on the customer service I received earlier today. I came to this store in hopes of trying on and purchasing several gowns for my reign as an International pageant queen. The saleswoman Joy immediately headed me off at the door while asking me "what are you looking for?" It struck me as odd behavior considering the store was totally empty in the middle of the day. I responded with a thorough description of a specific color (emerald green) and silhouette (mermaid/fishtail & fitted as I am a 6'0" woman w/ a lean and proportional size 6 dancer's/model's hourglass frame). I had assumed Joy was going to show me directly to the racks containing those gowns, but she shrugged and walked away saying she wasn't sure she had any because my preference was "an odd color that there weren't many choices of." After making my way through the reasonably sized store on my own, I located a rack full of gowns in the exact color I had requested, none of which were of the quality I would expect from someone who seemed so desperate to be...uppity? Oddly enough, as I made my way to the area of the store where she and her son stood idly at their computers, Joy followed me around offering a series of gowns she thought I should try. When I asked for a fitted silhouette she insisted on a flowy one. When I asked for emerald green, she recommended "maroon because it's a hot color." When I reiterated that I wanted a fitted gown, she brought me the puffy gown shown here on her token black model. She then curtly asked me what size I was and skeptically insisted on measuring me in front of her cash wrap (and not in a dressing room), saying "Yeah, you're a size larger than you thought." I informed Joy "I had a baby 3 months ago and am normally a size 6, so a size 8 will suffice to accommodate my current curves." She then proceeded to inform me that "most of our inventory is in a size 4 or extra small." As a model, I found this strange. But I suppose a size 6 or 8 is enormous and gowns don't come in my size...? Interestingly enough, when I logged onto Yelp to leave this review, I noticed a post she made saying that the store carries a variety of sizes for every body type? If this isn't enough, she refused to allow me to try on most of the gowns I expressed interest in saying, "you won't be able to zip it up." When I requested to have them ordered from the designer, she went off on a tangent about them being "all out." Body shaming from a stout, middle-aged woman who stands over a foot shorter than me is just not something I will entertain. I quickly grew tired of her bizarre and passive aggressive behavior and decided to leave. Upon my exit, I overheard another group of women scolding her son for telling them how a dress was "supposed to fit a woman." The woman in question seemed pretty upset and quipped, "I've been a woman for 42 years, I think I know how a dress should fit, and I don't need you to tell me that." Joy, if you are reading this, let me give you some helpful hints: 1. You should refrain from measuring people in front of your cash wrap when you have fitting rooms available, this is unprofessional and would humiliate a woman with less confidence. Do you do this to teenagers and others whom you deem "acceptable clients?" Why were you so rude to me today? 2. You should refrain from hovering over people while they are in the fitting rooms and watching people get undressed, it is creepy, unprofessional and disrespectful. I did not appreciate you insisting on waiting with your hand inside of the dressing room while I changed, this was unacceptable. Do you treat all of your customers this way? And was this why you referred to my purse as a "suitcase?" If you are concerned with loss prevention, I recommend you invest in a security system. 3. You should refrain from making passive aggressive remarks about other women's bodies when you don't have your own appearance tightened up. Furthermore, you should carry a variety of sizes and silhouettes to accommodate women of all statures who patronize your business. Do you, or do you not carry all sizes? 4. You should refrain from referring to discounts and sales if a client does not inquire. Why did you choose to discuss prices repeatedly with me, when I never asked you for a discount? I will wait for you to share why you assumed I needed one... I had high hopes for your store, but have decided not to return. I will however be sure to inform the various ivy league alumnae, sorority, and women's groups I belong to of your poor customer service and unprofessional behavior so they do not shop there and fall victim to the same poor treatment. You and your son need a refresher in customer care. This is 2019, you must stop assuming things about people based on their appearances. As you may now know, it doesn't feel good to be judged solely based upon looks. I can only guess this was what motivated your behavior today. I anticipate your response to this feedback! read more

On top of the hundreds of dresses all ready in stock, they said they could order any dress that I like and it would only take 3 days to come in! I felt as if I was in a place wit friends not some one who is trying to get me to buy a dress and leave. I would recommend this store to every one of all shapes and sizes. They were amazing and the store is so quiet and everything is so nicely placed. Even though they have a lot of dresses it is not jammed packed and you can view every dress easily. As a plus size woman it is difficult to find good quality formal dresses that art the right color, fit, style etc. I read reviews on Lizzie G and was especially concerned by a super long review they also had a rating of one star. But the website said they had plus size clothes and I was desperate so I went there to check them out. The person who left that review must be out of her mind!! The service I received was warm and welcoming! They did not have the color I was looking for in stock, but they measured me and had me try on another color, just to try the fit and ordered me the color I was looking for! I really appreciate how attentive Joy was to make sure the dress I tried on was so well taken care of. Other stores let the dresses drop and I often find that they have beads missing and snags and just look worn. But these dresses are so well cared for I really appreciated her watchful eye and attention to the care of each dress. The dress they ordered for me came in about 4 days and fit me perfectly, just as Joy said it would! I'm glad I waited those 4 days rather than buy an off the rack, and probably off the floor, dress at a department store! If you are a plus size lady try them out!! THIS PLACE IS TRULY FANTASTIC! My niece was in front out of state wanting to find a prim dress to take back home. I knocked on the door and was met with the kindest people! Even though it was by appointment only they allowed us to walk around their store to look at some of their dresses. While we were there, someone had canceled and they allowed us to take their appointment the following day. I usually buy formal dresses at the Mexican shops for reasonable prices, so when I came here, I did have sticker shock. The dresses are amazing though. The ladies were very helpful.
