The uncluttered nail stations here surprised me! Maybe this streamlined look is becoming more popular. No lamps, nail dry gizmos or fans cluttering up work areas! NICE. I came into this nail salon for a full set wanting just a simple pink color and I asked for a pink Acrylic which they did have and in middle of her doing my nails I decided to do a glittery nail and wow did she pull out all these ideas which usually doesn't happen bc most nail tech at salons try to rush you thru but not here (sorry I didn't catch the techs name) my nails came out simply AMAZING. I'm traveling from California to Texas trying to move the possessions of my grandmother who just recently passed. I desperately need to get my nails done, It was way past time. I do dip powder and found this place and thought 'perfect!' Because a salon that does dip powder is hard to find. Boy was I wrong..... They had maybe 10 colors to chose from. The place wasn't that busy and they got started right away. When it came time to apply the color the gentleman that did my nails didn't know what he was doing. I had to tell him how to apply the powder and what steps to do when, he was completely clueless. He did one clear coat and two colored coats and he was going to stop there. When I asked his for two more coats (1 colored and 1 clear) because I'm moving and my nails are my own and I didn't want them to break he got pissy at me and said 'fine' and rolled his eyes at me. He was completely rude and unprofessional. And when all was said and done he only put one more coat of color and not the clear coat. I wasn't about to argue with him on how it was done. And as predicted, like I told him, my nail broke. I haven't even had them on for 25 hrs!!!!! And it's already broken! I'm so pissed. He wouldn't listen to me even though he didn't even know what to do. To top off the broken nail, several nails are bumpy and a few are crooked. He never cut my cuticles and never oiled them either. I can't express enough how pissed off I've been on getting an acrylic set. never in my life has this happened to me but I go to this nail salon ONE time (and mind you I haven't gotten an acrylic set in over 3 years so this was my first set in a long time) I choose this place because I was visiting family in Yuma. Anyways I got almond shape French tip acrylic set.. a couple days later I see my ring finger turning yellow!!!!!! I got nail fungus on my whole right hand!!! I needed to renew my Mani/Pedi while in Yuma for work, and Liz's place is near my hotel in Yuma Palms. They did a great job and I'm very happy with the results. The prices are about $15 higher than what I normally pay in New Orleans, but I won't mind if my gel nails last 2 weeks without chipping. This place really, really sucks. Went in here during a business trip and they were intentionally dodgy about their pricing. I didn't want their deluxe pedicure, but opted for some add-ons when they said it was a few dollars more each. Little did I know that it ended up being basically the same price anyway. Their pricing is conveniently not within line of sight when you're having something done. They also had a notice posted that they couldn't process tips through credit cards. Sorry, but I don't carry cash and even if I had it they didn't earn it between their half-assed service and deceptive pricing. Lo and behold, I just checked my credit card statement and they gave themselves and extra $5.00 WITHOUT my signature. Cheating the system much? $47.00 for what they did is a total joke. It's tempting to contest the charge just over them being such jerks, but unfortunately the $5.00 isn't worth my time, which is probably why they get away with doing this on a regular basis. We walked in at 5:15 on a day when it said they don't close til 6. They had one lady sitting in a spa chair we asked for pedicures the lady looked at her phone I assume checking the time and looked back at us rolled her eyes and said were closed. **Haha I love the comment from the employee. Just so they are aware I spoke with 2 managers of different stores in the mall and they said the yuma palms require businesses to stay open until 6pm on Sunday. Yes people are aware that owners have lives but make sure you post that on your open and closing times. 10am-6pm unless we have plans then we will close when we want. Yes the whole point of Yelp is for people to come and post when they are happy/unhappy maybe you are unaware of the concept but be sure I will spread the word to my friends to NEVER go to your establishment and that won require me to do it on Yelp. I have been coming here for several years and Peter and Mimi are the best! Fair pricing and great professional service. Today I saw just how professional they truly are. A customer came in with two three year old children that would not listen to the continued scolding of the mother for their behavior. When asked politely to have the children sit quietly and not kick the furniture, the mother became belligerent and scolded the staff for asking her to control her children. After making sure the staff knew she was a doctor she continued to berate saying she would post just how unprofessional they are and she would never come back. This is the only place I've gotten my nails done here and I'm always happy leaving. They take really good care of me, and my husband. I was happy to leave with my nails gel. It lasted longer than a month until my nails grew too long and I had to cut it. Other than that, I never did have bad service here. They do military, student, and mall discount. 10%. I'm guessing the guy who always does my nails is Peter. I never really bother to ask but he is the owner. They were busy the last time I went so lots of people do go here. I went to this salon earlier today. I don't live in the area and I wasn't 100% sure on how the service would be. I was actually very impressed with the service we received. I believe the owner did my sisters nails and another gentleman did mine. The two of them did an amazing job. I didn't get any cuts, and my gel manicure came out perfect. They even made sure to tell me that if there is any chipping to come in and they would fix it. Most places look at you like you've just brought them the plaque when you have to get your nails fixed due to their mistake. Needless to say I will be back to this salon when I'm in town again. She grab your fingers so hard and she wasn't very talkative either. When I talked to her she would ignore me. Okay? Price $35 fill with gel polish. She was rushing me at the. End because other customers came in and she only left my hand in the light for about 45 seconds, I don't know if that's the Rawson why my nails turned yellow?​ When I came home I noticed my nails was yellow right on top - the too coat. I don't want to come back but I was unhappy. So I called then right away the next day. She looked at my nails and said "it's because you used lotion." If that's the case then gel / shellac shouldn't even be in the market. I didn't use any lotion, she was talking crap about me to the guys. And she insist she won't fix it! My first time here. Got a mani, pedi & brow wax and I really liked it! Tommy (man) did my Basic pedi $35- he was great! Took his time. He was friendly & wasn't pushy when it came to selling me "extras" like callous remover etc. . . Tammy (woman) did my manicure (regular mani w/ gel color $35, I do not have acrylic nails) and she too was great! She talked me into getting the gel color but wasn't pushy. I wanted to try it anyway. I have been going to them for a long time because the employees do the best pedicures, but unfortunately during the years both me and my mother have endured many negative experiences from both the owners. They look down upon us as if we were less than they are. They have been very rude toward us on several occasions. Today I called to make an appointment because I had made one for Saturday that I could not attend due to an emergency and they refused me an appointment saying that this has happened many times before. This is not true. I have a very common name and he can not assume that it has been me. I did apologize for the one incident but attempted to explain to him that those other times it had not been me. I don't ever get a warm welcome at this place, there are always staff members lounging around looking miserable and idk why each time I must've forgotten this crap but I came back...(these are spread out visits over the years). Today I came in for a simple fill ($20-$25). There were 5 workers there and one customer not including myself. One of the staff was speaking very loudly in the center of the shop on the phone talking about someone cashed his IRS check in Phoenix and how now he has to pay interest...ok take the call in the back office!?!?‍ Meanwhile after telling someone laying in a pedicure chair that I just wanted a fill they pointed to the last chair for me to go sit down. I begin to tell the woman that I wasn't sure exactly what I wanted but possibly a glitter shellac. She begins to tell me I need two colors if I want the glitter to look like the sample and then the entire nail would be covered with glitter and I said ok that's fine..she said it would be $10 extra even after telling me she would not charge for the base color...what?! Needless to say I was fine with paying extra as long as it was a nice job. So I proceeded. I told her I wanted my nails shorter and she began cutting my acrylic nails with a regular fingernail clipper. Anyone who has had their nails done a lot or knows about doing nails knows that splits the real nail from the acrylic causing the nail to come off later. ‍ needless to say I was Like whatever I guess I'll let her do her thing God forbid it's another $10 to get my nails filed down instead. As she's working I noticed the glitter on her nails was a faded out look and thought I might like that better and it'll be less product and she lost it. She said she would have to charge me even more to do that! I was so confused at this point, I asked why it would be more if I was using less polish and she said it was more work!! Like what?!? I've done my own nails and have gone to cosmetology school so speaking from experience it's not "more work". She was just lazy and to top it off wanting me to pay even more for half the product?? I said that's fine, just forget that idea we will just do the whole nail like I wanted originally. God forbid it be too much work for her to please a paying customer. She finally said "well if you don't want it you can leave". Excuse me? Ok I will, thanks bye, I got up with my chopped up nails and left. I didn't deserve this disrespect and utter disregard. Who charges extra to cut LESS off of the fake nail?! Fuck, let me shape it for $5 off! It's not hard!! And then... an ADITIONAL $10.00!!!! To get "chrome" put on them... I might understand this one if the chrome was good... but it looks like I'm wearing nail polish with silver sparkles on the top. Not enough of the dust was put on for it to look chrome. The actual quality of the job done for a gel acrylic manicure (minus the chrome dust) and regular pedicure... mediocre... they did fine, got it done, but nothing extraordinary. At the end of the day I paid $150.00!!!! For two basic pedicure, one gel manicure, and one gel acrylic manicure. Downright OBSURD for a basic nail shop. This is Yuma, not LA. A man did my nails and another waxed my face (where are the women?) and my nail polish came out uneven --he even got lint in one of my nails and had to file it out and fix it. My nails ended up looking really crooked because the gel was uneven and bumpy throughout. Every time I've been there I haven't waited very long (between 10-15 mins) and I like the service I receive. The only thing I find as an actual con to this place is that they don't have anywhere to actually do waxing and I consider that to be a spa service which should be done in private. Absolutely the worst customer service. The people were rude and had bad attitudes the entire time they were doing my nails and my friends nails. On top of the rude comments and rushing us out the door because we were their last customers, my gel polish that I paid 50.00 for with acrylics didn't even polish the tips properly. I travel all over the country for my job. Unfortunately if I break a nail it must be repaired ASAP. I was given this Nail Salon's name @ the Hotel. I am soooooo happy to have gotten a good one. I have been to my fair share of bad salons. The people are friendly. The place is clean. Peter and his wife were very friendly and nice. It is very important for people to realize that if you are dropping in after 5 on a day when they close at 6 you most likely will not get serviced unless you are the only person walking in. They do a great job and it takes about 45 min for a pedicure. I will be back in Yuma this week and will probably get my nails done while I am there. read more
