Not going to lie this place was meh.... Coming from California I wanted to try all the local favorites and this place disappointed me The service was okay considering it was so busy. The food was on par with or maybe just a step above Denny's. We ate breakfast so eggs, meat, grits,toast how difficult to mess those things up. Give the place a try for yourself.

Went to find breakfast, came upon this restaurant. Different name, so I gave it a shot. Quiet and clean, great start. Service was fast and attentive, cup never got close to empty. Food choices was great. Fast delivery to table. Had 2 small issues that are more on me than them. I asked for hashbrowns, got home fries, should have asked. Little to much butter on toast, easy fix, scraped it off. Good service, fair price. Worth a visit. My server was a nice lady named Deborah, she was great.

Just your basic breakfast. No special twists/variations on the eggs, pancakes or sausage to make you say 'WOW!'. There were other items on the breakfast menu like catfish that are less common from your typical diner. Might have made a diff in my review to have tried one of them. Service was good and judging by the customers, I'll say it's a popular spot for seniors to gather in groups. Probably a better choice for a 'meat & 3', with the big menu on the wall having a good variety of southern cooking favorites. I'm in no hurry to return for breakfast.

Do not go to this lizards thicket as the manager Terry Williams will not stand behind good quality food. I ordered to go order that was well over 50 bucks and when arriving home found the chicken was wrong not baked but fried. Like last week fried, it tasted as if the oil had never been changed or had been cooked earlier in the day. The pork chops looked as if they were cooked earlier in the day and I guess because they were so bad opted to put two of them in the to go box. All the food tasted bland had no flavor terrible service. When calling to complain about the food, all I was told was to bring it back for a refund. Then hung up on me and my wife with stage four cancer. I will never eat at this lizards, thicket, or any other LizardsThicket again! Teri needs to be fired and taught customer service... I will be in contact Jason Wiggins with corporate.

Oh MY GOODNESS! I was only in Columbia for 18 hours and my AirBnB hostess recommended this restaurant. I love homestyle, good cookin and she said Lizard's Thicket and I was like- what?!?! Ok- super close to where I stayed & the drive-thru had a line around the building! Great sign! The parking lot was half full and upon entering (and full by the time I left) I was told I could sit anywhere I liked. I found a booth and the menus were already on the table- however I had already Yelp and menu stalked the place before coming- so I knew exactly what I wanted (pssst- check the specials!) Fried Chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, mac-n-cheese and the green beans. I knew I wouldn't finish 3 sides plus meat- but I wanted to taste everything. My server was bright, smiles and full of great info! We hit it right off and she was just a doll! She brought me out hot, fresh corn bread muffins and real butter- oh- heaven. She also thanked me for being such a sweetheart- but she made it so easy! I would prefer to make others smile! Well the service just was non-stop! When I went to order the fried chicken you have the choice of white or dark (per the menu) but what I didn't know is that you could get boneless fried chicken breast- whaaaaattttt?????? Shut the front DOOR! Yes Pa-lease! She also told me their mac is da best, which made me happier that I wanted it on my plate. She told me she never brings a dish out that she herself wouldn't eat- that much attention to detail! When the food arrived I had a moment of oh crap- I am never going to eat all this. The. Mac. N. Cheese. Just stopped and look at the pic- because it was creamy, perfectly cooked mac with a thick layer of cheddar baked over that hot madness. That was the first bite. Food orgasm- I moved around the plate- mashed potatoes were fine, but the mac had my heart. The fried Chicken was delish- but again, that mac!!! The green beans were the flat ones (my hubby loves those) and they were yummy as well. So.... I finished the mac-n-cheese. Not a morsel left of that, but everything else had bits left. No point in taking leftovers as I was leaving town early in the morning- but my amazing server loaded me up with hot-fresh-cornbread for the road. Damn you woman! lol. I really really wanted dessert and they had a special any dessert starting that day for 99 cents- but I just couldn't wrap my head around eating anything else! But the list of desserts.... oh my! Bless my heart- they had fried pound cake! Banana pudding, chocolate cake, lemon meringue, chocolate meringue, peach cobbler, carrot cake, apple cobbler and more! Just slap me silly amounts of desserts. I would have had to sit there another hour before even thinking of ordering dessert! IF I ever find myself in that city again- I will return! Just go!

This was my first time here and I was not disappointed The service was absolutely Great. Loved the atmosphere, gave a at home feel which fit the whole country cooking theme. The service made it feel even more like home. The food was really delicious, everything that was on my plate was fresh and hot . I will definitely be a returning costumer!

This place will serve you so much food for less than $10. I tried the chicken and dumplings Monday special and it was nice warm comfort food on a cold day. The sides of fried okra and kale hit the spot - salty and healthy lol. The squash casserole wasn't that good - it has melted cheddar cheese that obviously came from a bag. I didn't finish that one. Our waitress was so nice! Another server was a little weird - he squeezed my shoe. Uhhhh wut. Other than that, come to Maryland! read more

First time at this one. Second time eating at a Lizard's Thicket. Had an omelet and I was happy the spinach used was fresh - not canned or frozen. Yum! The grits were cooked to perfection. The onion sausage is delicious! It was an excellent breakfast. April was the best server I've ever had! She's sweet, polite and all around an extremely great server. Not just to me, but every table she took care of. I will be back for sure! read more

My mom was visiting from Florida and wanted some southern food. My first thought was to try Lizard's Thicket. I called in my order and was able to pick up within 10-15 minutes. We ordered breakfast and it was delicious!! The employees were super friendly and efficient. They definitely exceeded my expectations. read more

Fantastic local staple in the Irmo area. This place has the best breakfast in South Carolina! Breakfast is served until 10:30AM on weekdays and until 12:00 Noon on weekends. It gets *very* crowded on Sundays after church, and on some mornings. Menu consists mostly of comfort foods. The service is always great. They do have a drive-thru, but would still recommend calling in your order ahead of time so that it is ready when get to the window. read more

This chicken & rice soup I purchased today. Never again will I get it and I'd never fix my mouth to suggest it to someone either. The soup was very bland, greasy, the chicken was literally torn from the bone and tossed into the broth, damn near whole legs of meat in broth basically, unproportioned, had way more meat than rice and the chicken was dry as hell even though it's submerged in broth. The only thing positive I have to say about this dish is that texture of the rice was good and not mushy. read more

We had lunch at lizards Thicket today. The food was cold. The turkey was tough and tasteless. The cabbage was inedible. The squash casserole was ok. We have been eating here for 25 years of and on. I wwas stunned how dirty the restaurant was. We probably no return. read more

Lizard's Thicket on Saint Andrews is so good. The only complaint is that the waitress wasn't that great, we had to ask for more napkins. But the food was amazing. I had a fried pork chop, collard greens, mashed potatoes and fried okra and sweet ice tea. My friend Amber, had roast chicken, mashed potatoes and gravy, cornbread stuffing and gravy, mac and cheese and sweet tea, and a fried pork chop on the side. The southern food is soooo good, its much better then Cracker Barrel. To me its real home style southern food. read more

I found this restaurant courtesy of Yelp, of course. For a home cooked meal with a meat and one, two, or three vegetables, you can't go wrong. The meat selections are numerous, as are the vegetables. The veggie list includes some dessert items (jello, banana pudding) so you can kill two birds with one stone. The meal is served with a cornbread muffin or roll. What a deal! I ordered flounder, baby lima beans, and yams. The flounder was a bit crispy for my taste, the baby limas were okay, and the waitress previously informed me that the yams came out of a can but were heated in a homemade sauce; they were edible. The next day, I returned for the healthier chick breast meal but was told it would take 10 minutes. I ordered the three veggies including homemade mac and cheese was tasty but had a tad bit too much salt for my liking. Overall, I am giving them 4 stars for the numerous meal selections (also have soups and salads) and great prices! read more

Just moved to South Carolina. Stumbled across this restaurant on one of our drives. Decided to have dinner here. I have to say food was very good. And good prices. I ordered chicken fried steak with cream gravy. Mashed potatoes. And cream corn. Which was soooo good. My husband ordered pulled pork. Collard greens. Mac and cheese. Our twins ordered chicken fried steak. Mashed potatoes and fried squash. EVERYTHING was so good. The fried squash was a little cold. But nothing to really complain about. The atmosphere was very inviting and nice. Our waitress was very polite. Very helpful. Great service. The sweet tea! Wow! Was very good as well. I totally recommend stopping by and giving them a try. read more

Stopped in for breakfast at 9am. Waited 5 minutes to be acknowledged as it was seat yourself. Placed drink orders and waited 10 more minutes. When she finally brought our drinks she brought drinks for 4 tables saying "just wanted to take care of all my tables at once all snotty". Ok so this means her next step would be taking all the orders at once and then we wait, kitchen gets mad, all the food comes at once for her tables making the other servers mad, then we wait for our food as she doles it all out to her section because you can see NOBODY works together there. We heard other servers complaining about each other loudly. Needless to say we left before we could witness this train wreck come to fruition. Second time with bad service we probably won't return - it's a shame we like the food usually! read more

My mom lives in Irmo and this Yankee right here always sees fit to stop at lizard's thicket to fill her belly up with southern goodness. Everything is good, but I'm partial to the country fried steak with collards, cornbread dressing, and yams. Because that's how I roll. I am still a Yankee though so I do request half sweet tea half unsweetened tea. read more

Good food and convenient drive through. Three out of the last 5 times I went through the drive through I was shorted one of the sides. The last time one order was missing cold slaw and the other order was missing carrot and raisin salad. By the time you get home you don't want to drive back and it is awkward to check everything in line with lots of people waiting. read more

We have been eating in this restaurant for 32 years and seeing it continues to go down especially in their take out service. The latest one was tonight with under cooked turkey and burned cabbage. Manger gave me a hard time and insisting that I was wrong about the turkey. Not a word of apology. Instead of being generous about replacing the full meal because my dinner is ruined, all she did was to comp me for the meat and one vegetable. read more

Stopped cause of the yelp reviews. Gotta say this food is bland. Even hot sauce and pepper didn't make this better. We sampled it all between 4 of us. Veggies ok. Baked chicken ok. Fried chicken - one bite and even the kids didn't finish it. Cornbread was probably the best thing. Good prices. Good service. This is the type of food I expect to eat at the nursing home. read more

They opened at 11:00 and we walked in at 11:01, anxious to get our fish! The waitress was great and set us up quickly at a table and took our drink orders and brought us Guiness and teas. She heard all the chatter about the Fish N Chips and the next thing she said is "We don't have any beer batter yet, so no Fish N Chips! Immediately there were groans and moans. We had our beer and had come here specifically for the Fish N. Chips. She went back to check and returned saying "Yep, no beer batter so no Fish N Chips". Several of us joked that we may as well drink our beer and go next door to the Mongolian Yummy Stir fry place. We now started browsing for other menu items that we wanted. After about five minutes she came back out and said they could make up some batter but didn't know how long it would take. (How long does it take to stir up beer batter?). We said we'd wait. In the meantime two of our guys placed orders for the Scottish Eggs and Onion Rings for the table. They were both excellent. Three of us ordered the Fish N Chips and two had decided to go with the Bangers and Mash. One order for the Beef Eater sandwich, one Club Sandwich and one Rueben Sandwich. The food came out and the fish n chips were great. Not greasy, crispy, large haddock slice with great french fries. and green peas (which were barely luke ward, almost cold). The two guys with the Bangers and Mash loved it..Great sausage and the potatoes were excellent with mustard. The Rueben was great and also the Beef Eater. The waitress did a great job, checking on us throughout lunch. All in all, what started out as a questionable lunch turned into another fine lunch for the ROMEO group. The rating was 9.18 on the ROMEO scale...5.0 on Yelp scale. Only issue was something was wrong with the tea. It almost looked like water. Maybe because we were the first group in and the tea had just been made.

When the British Bulldog calls itself a "pub", I feel like it's one of the very few places that takes that moniker to heart. Even though it's located in somewhat of a strip-mall setting, once you walk inside the building, you're amazed by the authenticity of the inside. Personally, I loved the brick and wood that made up the interior, which gave the restaurant the realistic "pub" vibe that I mentioned earlier. Furthermore, I loved the framed, and hanging, soccer flags, which was a marked contrast to the professional and college sports paraphernalia at your typical American sports bar. I walked in kind of late, and just sat at the bar, which still made for a great experience. Even though it's an English restaurant, they still had a lot of the popular local and domestic beers, to go along with the more English-themed beverages. I asked if they had any "sours", and the bartender was kind enough to offer me a sample of the two (2) sours that they had on tap, and let me choose the one I liked the most. The aforementioned bartender was great, and I overheard him offering some folks from out-of-town with recommendations for nearby late-night spots and high-quality local joints. Finally, my simple order of chicken tenders and fries was pretty good, and I thoroughly enjoyed their steak-cut "chips," or French Fries. All-in-all, I waited too long to try out the British Bulldog, which was a great pub experience that definitely lived up to my high expectations. I'll definitely be coming back soon, and in turn, would recommend it to anybody else!

I loved all the Christmas decor and it was cool seeing their had their own merch and coffee beans to sell. I got honey matcha and it was the perfect amount of sweetness! My little sister got the traditional matcha which was surprisingly not as bitter as I thought it would be! The matcha at the cafe is a hit!!! Also, sister got a cheese bagel with cream cheese and she enjoyed it.

What an amazing concept. I can say that the food quality is pretty awesome especially considering the buffet style restaurant. I've been twice now and both times the food was awesome and they don't pull back on anything here. The only issue is they do have some weird hours but for what you get and how they do things it's totally worth a trip during lunch. I highly recommend hitting this spot if you're a fan of BBQ and have ever felt like you didn't here get enough of your favorite BBQ dishes.

For the price of the buffet you get your bang for your buck with a whole lot of flavor with it.
