I've been wanting to check out a locally owned ice cream spot for a while, and a friend recommended Lix Uptown. I stopped by around 9 PM, and wow this place is unlike any ice cream shop I've ever been to. It has a super cool, vintage thrifted vibe with nostalgic pieces everywhere you look. Every corner has something that'll catch your eye and take you back in time. Honestly, it almost feels like a speakeasy but for dessert lovers, with cozy little seating areas set under neon lights. When I visited, they offered about a dozen ice cream flavors in three different sizes, plus a nice variety of toppings and add-ons. My only small critique would be that if you order add-ons, they serve them in a separate cup instead of putting everything together. Maybe slightly larger cups would solve that but honestly, it's not a total dealbreaker. The ice cream itself was delicious! The staff was great too. The employee helping us was super friendly and patient, especially since I was having a hard time deciding what to get. There was also someone who seemed like the owner or manager who stopped by just to say hi and make sure we were enjoying ourselves, which was a nice touch. If you're looking to support a local business and want an ice cream experience that's totally different from the usual chain spots, I'd definitely recommend checking out Lix Uptown.

Best ice cream place in the valley. Most is gf, and just tastes like creamy homemade ice cream. The inside has the best vibe ever, and the friendly owner is usually working inside making magic. It's kind of ducked off in the back, 7th Ave and Osborn.

A little on the sweet side for me, but the flavor variety is solid and the owners are very nice. They have a cool decorated lounge in the back to hang out in. They were out of most popular flavors when we were there, but the dark chocolate and birthday were pretty good. The woman working there scooped heavy too, great portions.

wow this place looked unique from just the outside but when you walk in it gets even better, i love how the employee greeted us right away and called us friends, he was smiling the entire time and seemed to love his job, he let us try about 4 different flavors and they were all yummy and creamy, you can really taste the quality and they are all lactose free cause the owner is lactose intolerant which i thought was cool, the layout makes you feel like you're in that 70s show

This place sells dairy free ice cream, and they have new flavors everyday! There is so many unique and interesting flavors to choose from, I tried their sticky rice mango and it was amazing. Their peanut butter recess was also amazing! The inside of the place has a really unique decoration and there is more seating at the back and at the front of the restaurant.

Fun place in Phoenix to grab an ice cream treat. I used to come to this location often back when it was Dark Hall Coffee. Lix serves scratch-made lactose-free ice cream. Their ice cream is really good. I have been on a Turkish coffee kick since I visited Turkey last year. I was excited to see that they offered that flavor here along with a number of other fun flavors. What is really fun about Lix Ice Cream is the back room. There is so much cool nostalgic stuff back there like old arcade games, a slot machine, stuffed animals and cool lighting. There are plenty of couches to relax on if you want to hang out and enjoy your ice cream while here. Lix Ice Cream opens late if you have that late-night craving for something sweet.

Turkish coffee was my favorite - very unique flavor with a satisfying texture. The guys at the counter were super friendly and let us try all the samples. Good selection of flavors available. There's also a super cool and funky lounge in the back where you can sit and eat your ice cream :)

Very nice vibes sweet employees and high energy and welcoming. The Little area in the back is so cool it's such a vibe. Honestly and lots of their options are vegan and lactose free unique delicious options. They have games you can play as well

They make all of their ice cream in house. Flavors vary. There are lactose intolerant friendly creams available too

I've been trying my best to get back to Yelp to write my review about this place. So odd! I've been fiddling with AI to help me with a lot of things. I also try asking Siri and Google questions to help me while I'm driving. So insert AI prompts: "Hey Siri, please help me find a good place for ice cream with more than 4 Stars on Yelp...." Lix was at the top of the list returned. What I love about this prompt is that it inserted a place I'd never heard of that is now in my rotation of fun places! Yay for AI! I had no idea this place would be so cool! If you are interested in a cool night out with friends to just socialize, eat home made ice cream and play board games, Lix is your spot! I couldn't paint the beauty of this shop with words, check out my pictures and the video and I promise, you'll be adding Lix to your frequent rotation too! Return Factor: 100%

Trying LIX for the first time!

Ok so had no idea I'd find what we did at Lix ice cream. It was such a cool spot with amazing flavors of ice cream, an abundance of topping choices but what makes it all even better is the ambiance of the place! The vibes are giving 80s 90s nostalgia so so hard - it just took me immediately back to feel good times. Who doesn't want to enjoy ice cream where it feels so good and looks so cool? This would be an awesome spot to bring a date or even get together for a book club or something. Beyond the counter in the back there is a whole other room with couches and seating and it's just soooooo cool. All the folks working there were super pleasant and they were so nice to us even though we walked in about 20 minutes before they were set to close. We wouldn't have even realized how magical it was in the back had they not shared with us that it was open / available. They also seem to sell pints to take home of their delights, which I will probably grab next time. Flavors were insane - I ended up with snickerdoodle and pistachio, both were perfect, and my gf had biscoff and bananas fosters and both were also SO SO DELICIOUS. We didn't even get to try the toppings but I'll definitely be back and cannot wait!

Such a great craft ice cream shop in the heart of Phoenix! Incredible flavor combinations. And a cool vibe in the lounge with tons of vintage items and board games. Highly recommend!

    Inside! So vibey

I was so excited to eat my ice cream I didn't take a picture. But I had one scoop ($6) but you can get two flavors and this was an insanely huge "one scoop" size. I had French toast and pb & j, loved them (both obviously gluten free, so nice!) Flavors change day to day and all are homemade. They were smooth and fresh, definitely satisfied my sweet tooth. There was also mango sticky rice, sweet cream, chocolate dank, strawberry quick, cupcake, and Turkish coffee all gf (the flavors I remember). Also others I couldn't have so I chose not to remember them LOL. But they looked amazing The place itself is so frickin cool and vibey. Lots of colors and patterns and 80's decorations and it's a mish mosh but it all works so well. Lix is great with a little group because there's games!! I played Jenga with my boyfriend, so fun.

Conveniently located right off Grand Ave (US 60) in a little strip mall right in the heart of Surprise. Tons of ample parking for you and some of your closest friends! We were greeted immediately when we walked in. Contrary to what a few of the other reviews have said, you do ** NOT ** need to bring quarters with you. Obviously, you can. But it's not necessary. The nice gentleman running the place today gladly took our $20 bill and give us a few $5 bills back. From there, you can go to their change machine in the back, chuck in your $1 bills or $5 bills and it'll spit out quarters at you. Once you've got your pockets full of quarters, head over to one of the many machines and be prepared to be entertained! It's $1 per game. I know, but this ain't 1984 anymore so a dollar per game checks out. We blew through our $20 in a hair over an hour. It is incredibly clean inside! The machines functioned with no issues at all and I can't stress enough about how clean the machines (and everything) was here at Player 1! If you want to partake in some soda or alcohol, they can serve you up some refreshments while you've got your hands full with a pinball machine. Super fun way to spend a hot summertime afternoon here in Arizona. We will DEFINITELY be back. Such a cool place. Can't recall the last time I saw this many pinball machines lined up in a row. I think I was listening to Van Halen on cassette on my boom box. Highly recommended, friends! Go check them out!

They had childhood games like Street Fighter, Galaga and Elvira. Check the murals in all three bathrooms (different themes). My favorite was the Take on Me mural, but Bowie, Prince and Ghostbusters are cool too. They had Beastie Boys. It's not loud, but not crowded on Sunday. They have a pinball league. The premise is similar to an escape room, but there are several themed, interactive rooms that you try to progress through. Each room has a 3 minute time limit and if you pass the first challenge, a door opens to another room. Each themed room has 3 challenges total. We all had a lot of fun working together as a team. The rooms are hard to complete (at least for us lol) and some of the rooms required more physical ability. There are employees there to help you as requested, which helps if you get stuck on what you're supposed to do. The rooms are well put together, theme-wise, which adds to the experience of the challenges. There were a lot of people there, which meant a long waiting time. I feel as though we did more waiting than we did inside the rooms. Although, it didn't help that several rooms broke or weren't functioning correctly throughout the night. There's also a bar in the back where you can grab drinks and food, if you so choose. I would recommend waiting until after the experience since you have a 2 hour time limit. Overall, Bam Kazam is a unique activity to get a group of friends or family together for a night of fun and challenges! I would definitely go back again, but perhaps on a weekday or a time that would be less busy.

So there we were, headed to Castles N' Coasters a wholesome amusement park in the desert... a place…read morefor families, laughter, and apparently, poor decision-making. Now my buddy this man reaches into his pocket and pulls out what I can only describe as a historical artifact. I'm talking a doobie so big it looked like Bob Marley himself rolled it during a greatest hits tour. I said, "Absolutely not. I am a grown man. I got responsibilities. I got a mortgage. I got snacks at home I haven't even finished yet." That didn't matter. Next thing I know, windows are up, car turns into a Dutch oven of bad decisions, and now I'm just along for the ride literally and spiritually. Somewhere between "this is a bad idea" and "why is everything funny," I lost control of the evening. We pull into the park around that magical time you know, that in-between hour... not quite day, not quite night... like God dimmed the lights and said, "Alright boys, let's see what happens." The whole place is glowing neon lights, arcade buzz, roller coasters rattling in the distance. Felt like walking into a carnival dream... or maybe a fever dream. Jury's still out. Now here's the thing about this place it's been around since the late '70s, sitting right there in Phoenix like a desert time capsule of fun. You got four roller coasters, including the Desert Storm, which sounds fun until you're on it reconsidering every life choice that led you there. Then there's the Patriot wooden, loud, and about as gentle as a bar fight. And somehow... SOMEHOW... we thought tequila beforehand was a good idea. So now we're buzzed, slightly baked against our will, and wandering this park like three philosophers who lost their notes. We're laughing at everything. Nothing's funny but everything's hilarious. A trash can? Comedy gold. A churro? Best thing I've ever eaten in my life. A child running past me? I'm emotionally invested in his journey. But I'll give credit where it's due the park itself? Clean. Staff's friendly. Nobody's judging three grown men giggling like idiots. It's got that old-school charm too arcades, mini golf, rides, the whole deal. You can bring a family here... or whatever version of a situation we were. Now the rides... oh, the rides. Let me tell you something nothing will make you rediscover fear like being slightly out of your mind on a roller coaster you thought you could handle. I got scared... not once... not twice... but a few times. The kind of scared where you start making promises to God you don't intend to keep. "I'll be a better man if I survive this drop..." Didn't mean a word of it. By the end of the night, we had the munchies, the laughs, and just enough dignity left to get back to the car without needing a group meeting. For a couple hours, though? We were kids again. No responsibilities. No stress. Just lights, noise, and pure, ridiculous fun. So yeah Castles N' Coasters might be a family amusement park... but under the right or completely wrong circumstances, it turns into one hell of a story. Would I recommend it? Absolutely. Just... maybe crack a window on the way there.

It was on someone else's dime, but I guess that counts, too. We got nachos and drinks from the snack bar. Service was quick. As with any family fun event center, food was a bit overpriced. The female bathroom was nasty. I don't know how often they clean them, but there was paper all over the stall floor. The faucets had a lot of buildup on them. Both the male and female restrooms smelled funky. I didn't play at the putt putt section, but one day I'll be back to do that. Overall, a good arcade/food experience. That math might sound kinda funky but they have a full 100% keyboard with a numpad, so you lose all that space in practice unless you curl up in a wildly unnatural position and rest the keyboard on the plastic bumpers but nothing I did even remotely made this place comfortable. It's as if they've never had anyone play a shooter here, or everyone who ever has had an eDPi of 12000 or higher. They aren't really equipped for MMOs either, every mouse in sight was a Razer Deathadder Essential, no Nagas or Scimitars or even a knockoff 12 button, so unless you're clicking your buttons or reaching to the = key naturally on a full sized keyboard you're crippled. I picked up a 5 hour session off the rip because my buddies in town and I only have one PC in my place, I couldn't even survive 30 minutes here before just giving up and deciding to watch him play, but even a guy who never gets to play, who really wants to play, couldn't survive more than an hour and a half of his five hours. Side note, we pushed in our chair to make space to walk through the aisle and the light rattle of the desk sent a PC for a whole bootloop back to BIOS.
