After this experience, I wish I chose to give my business to some other place even if it meant going hungry for a little longer. The menu prices here are reasonable - that is their only positive. Service is extremely slow and they are way understaffed. There was the lone unpleasant old man who was very slow in taking the orders. Probably hard of hearing too. I asked for Onion Rings which was on their menu and he retorted that they don't serve Onion Drinks. When I pointed the item on the menu he yelled out "You want Onion REEEEEEEENGS!" Water was never offered. I have never seen that happen in the USA in any sit-down restaurant before. We just had to wait to finish eating and leave and drink water from the bottles in our car. Omelettes and eggs tasted very ordinary. Belgian waffle was expected to be crunchy but it came soft and soggy. Seriously how difficult is it to make a waffle? The batter comes out of a box and you just throw it in the waffle maker. How can they make a mess out of that? There were only a total of 4 other people in the restaurant and our (simple) order took about 45 minutes to arrive. We felt very unwelcome with the whole experience.

The staff was super friendly and helpful and attentive. There are definitely a lot of locals in there to grab lunch. But a fair amount of tourist that we're passing by as well. I would highly highly highly recommend stopping in if you're in the area for a quick bite. And definitely check out the daily specials.

Their menu has what you'd expect from a classic diner, prices are cheap, and service is quick! We got the Country Style Eggs and Patty Melt. Both lacked basic seasonings like salt & pepper. If I was rating off the food alone, I'd give it a 3/5. The home fries in the Country Style Eggs could've been crispier and adding hot sauce definitely saved this a bit. The biscuit we got with it was homemade and so delicious. It was warm, buttery, and satisfying. The Patty Melt was a bit dry and desperately needed a sauce. I used ketchup and asked for pickles which helped. The rye bread was surprisingly not dry and grilled nicely with butter. It was definitely a heavy meal but we needed it after a long drive. It's not the kind of place where you'll have an amazing meal but it'll do the job at a super affordable price.

That being said, we were seated quickly and food also arrived quickly. Nothing here will likely wow you, and it does have a heavy slant towards either grilled (hot dogs, hamburgers) or deep fried (chicken fingers, mozz. sticks) fare. But the other usual suspects (Greek Salad, Meatloaf, Chili, etc.) also made an appearance. For the price, the food was fine. I am not sure what makes it Texas or what makes it a Cafe, but if I were in town I would come back.

The two servers looked a little busy but the place had only a few tables full. Do not expect Southern, Texas or Kansas Barbecue We ordered by phone and got a Togo order. I ordered the sampler with smoked turkey, Mac and cheese, and fries and the sides. Well they forgot the Mac and cheese for this... My wife got the beef and cheddar sandwich with Mac salad My daughter got the Mac and cheese bowl. The ribs were a little dry but had good flavor. Well noticed that the "brisket" seemed more like a pressed loaf and sliced fairly thin. The beef and cheddar seem to be the same meat as the "brisket". The smoked turkey also seemed like a pressed loaf and was dry. The Mac and cheese could have been a savior for the rest of the order. I say could have because I did have high hopes. It looked very delicious. They use more than one kind of noodle and it looked amazing. Now the flavor was lacking. Cheddar was the main cheese and that is about the only flavor it had. We didn't try any desserts. I will say the ones I saw on the counter looked very good. I will say for where it's at it is good food. I think my expectations might be set a little high when getting smoked food. I will have to try their pulled pork next time. I am usually hesitant to get pulled pork in PA/NY because they soak it in sauce before they give it to you 99% of the time. That seems just to cover the lack of flavor or the dryness of it. I do recommend everyone to try this place. I might give it another shot with lowered expectations.
