It's a clean and friendly environment to wait while the car is being worked on...I'm so grateful for this shop. **** I moved here a year ago and randomly went to a place to get my car inspected. This year, however I did some research and decided to come here. Everyone was very helpful and friendly. Maddie was the rep that greeted and assisted me today...she was wonderful! The waiting area is very clean, with ample chairs, coffee, a television, and restrooms for customers I also had my oil changed; tires rotated and balanced; and it was recommended that the car have a coolant system flush, along with a rear brake light replaced. I was out of there in 1.5 hours...on the 29th of November (one day left to the month/inspections due). There was an issue I knew about they brought it to my attention and I will happily have them do that work as well. 1 star -- extremely disappointing experience and unacceptable lack of communication…read more I chose Japanese Auto Parts in part because of their 4.9-star Google rating, so I expected professional service and communication. Unfortunately, my experience on October 2, 2026 was the complete opposite. I dropped my Jeep off at approximately 7:30 AM for an 8:00 AM appointment. The plan was to have several repairs addressed, along with new tires, an alignment, and a complete health assessment of the vehicle. I was initially told that some of the parts would be delayed, but that they should still be able to complete the tires, alignment, and vehicle assessment so that I could have my Jeep back Friday evening. Instead, I had to repeatedly call them myself just to find out what was happening with my vehicle. There was essentially no proactive communication. When I called around noon, I was told they were still waiting on parts. I called again around 3:00 PM and was then told that neither the tires nor the parts would be available and that they could simply keep my Jeep over the weekend. What made the situation completely unacceptable was when the employee then admitted that, despite having my Jeep since 7:30 that morning for an 8:00 AM appointment, they had not even completed the vehicle health assessment. At that point, I told them not to perform any work on my vehicle and that I was coming to pick it up immediately. I walked in, collected my key fob, and left. Delays in parts happen. Tires can be delayed. Schedules can change. That is not the reason for this review. The problem was the complete lack of proactive communication, follow-through, and urgency. If I had not repeatedly called throughout the day, I have no idea when anyone would have contacted me to explain that the work they had discussed with me was not going to be completed. Keeping a customer's vehicle for essentially an entire business day without even completing the promised assessment--and only revealing that after the customer repeatedly calls for updates--demonstrates an unacceptable level of apathy toward customer service and respect for a customer's time. I specifically sought out this shop because of its excellent reviews. Unfortunately, my experience did not remotely reflect the level of service those ratings led me to expect. I left without allowing them to perform any work on my Jeep and will be taking my vehicle elsewhere.

They sent me a quote and I was flabbergasted at the price. The first original leak repair was quoted for $2,700. They did find another leak that would cost me an additional $1500 to repair . Way more than I was planning. I talked to a gearhead at my work and he said absolutely do not pay that. He said they do this to women, unfortunately. I talked to two other local shops who quoted me for everything on the original repair for $800 and $1100. Those quotes were for everything 17th Street was going to do for $2,700. I hate that companies do this. The icing on the cake was that when I drove my car home, I popped the hood and they didn't even attach the cover to the motor. It was just laying cockeyed on the top. It makes me question what else they didn't reinstall after looking over my car.

This morning, Jennifer (has to be CAC - Command and Control) called me and asked what I needed. I told her I'd like the flat fixed, if possible and if not give me a call back. She said she'd get it done and quotes me the same ridiculously low price for a plug. An hour later, she calls me back, says the car is ready. I arrive, pay the fee which hasn't changed between last night when I spoke to Lee, this morning and right now. I'm in love! Friendly and courteous, honest and timely. I have been here several times with a few cars. The most recent visit here was on October 2, 2023. I have been past this place countless times, but had never come in here until recently. In June, Mark Hopkins from this business was going house to house to sell VIP Customer Care Cards for $130. After looking over what it has to offer, I decided to get it. It is good for any car and does not expire. A few months later on August 23, 2023, I came in for my first service to use the VIP card. When I came for the first time, parking is extremely limited. I ended up parking over at the end of the Food Lion parking lot. The reason for this visit was to have a full synthetic oil and filter change. This was completely covered by the VIP card. The check in process was pretty easy inside. They had my appointment already, and all I needed to give them was the VIP card. Once the work was done, I would get that card back. Within two hours, they were already done and my car was ready for pick up. The pick up process was easy too. Everything went well on this visit. The only thing they forgot to do was reset the change oil notification in the car, but I got that reset, so all good. My most recent visit here was to bring my mom's car here for service. She needed an oil change (regular) and a state inspection. Both of these services were covered under the VIP card. The process was similar to the first one, and they were done within a few hours too. At this point, the VIP card has already paid for itself and then some. Overall, the service and experience here have been excellent. One thing that was really nice is that they don't try to push you to get additional products and services when the car is looked at. They are very honest and up front about what needs to be done and what is optional. You don't see that too much these days. If you're looking for a place to have your car taken care of that isn't a dealership, this place is worth checking out. I had my vehicle towed there (it's $600 for each tow) and even spoke to someone there, told them what kind of vehicle and what was wrong and was told to bring it in for an estimate. NOBODY told me it would be $158/hour to diagnose...nobody. I even spoke to the mechanic once it was there, someone at the front desk and there was NO mention of this. I read some of the other reviews and I'm getting the sense they definitely take advantage of people if the situation calls for it. I called twice to get a status with no response or call back in that month and a half worth of time. Finally called yesterday and was put on hold a few times (it seemed they were looking into an issue), then a new service writer told me that he just started three days ago, read the notes that said to just "call owner" and says oh gee that would be $158/hour since it wasn't running (nobody at the get go told me that, nor after or since until now) AND my vehicle has been sitting there for a month and a half or more!? I would have made other plans if I knew this. So then to top it off, I get hung up on (I was completely calm on the phone), call back, leave a message and then eventually connect about an hour later. Now all of a sudden he says that the lead mechanic already did 1.5 of work that I'd be charged for and fixed a switch and got it started but won't stay running and needs more work. The lack of communication in this is absolutely astounding and now how do I trust anything!? All I got was an oops sorry nobody called you and told you how much it would be or even gave you anything in writing or authorized any work!? My family owns a shop farther away and that is completely illegal!! I have no choice now but to have them continue and told them to cut it off at a certain amount of hours. I will update once this situation is complete and fairly if resolved. Now I'm skeptical but if I can't at least get the vehicle running to make it to my house, I will have to get another $600 tow. If they can tell me what's wrong with it, even better. I'm hoping for the best and will update once this is resolved.

I gave him the $15 I had on me and the mechanic gave it back to me and refused to take it! James offers to make a deal with me and Aric sealed it! He wouldn't take my $15! There are good people in this world. Neither one of them looked like me either! I have to add that! I would recommend doing business with these gentlemen! I will do business with them myself and I live on the other side of town. It's hard to find good people these days and when you do we have to hold onto them! I'm adding to this post... turns out I had 2 nails in it and technically they aren't supposed to patch those because they were really close together. So he's back there now working on my car for free really. Unbelievable!
