Came for dinner last night bc dad hoped it would've made for a nice rainy day dinner. However, it's…read morebeen a while since his last visit and we left disappointed that it didn't live up to his previous expectations. Firstly, I will say the soup is delicious and tasted authentic. It was filled with herbs and really gave that Mongolian hotpot taste we were after. The servers spoke Mandarin though so we weren't able to communicate with them well. I think there's an a la carte and ayce menu? We didnt understand her but we asked for ayce since their ayce menu flyer was what prompted my dad to think of this place for dinner. She came and asked us if we want spicy or no spicy and i said no spicy but they have half/half pots and i wanted to choose a different broth but she came out pretty quickly with the same broth in both sides of the pot.. oh wells haha! They had pickled fish, tomato, chicken, mushroom broths as well.
Anyway we ordered sliced lamb, sliced 'chunk'(?)short rib, and reg sliced beef as well as spinach, quail egg, egg tofu, fried bean curds, instant noodles. They also had a sauce bar with soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, barbecue sauce, sesame sauce, red bean sauce, sesame oil, green onion, cilantro, chili oil, fish sauce, sugar, etc... And a snack bar that looked questionable, it had bao buns, fries, colored puffed chips, egg rolls, potstickers.... we didn't try any of those.
I remember coming here with my parents (but me being the picky little eater i was I wouldn't eat) when we were little and this place was always busy with patrons, tonight it just looked very sad. I always wanted to try this place out but after tonight I don't think I'd come back. The meat quality isn't great they looked freezer burnt and cut way too thick. Dad's colon is a little more sensitive these days and he made two trips to the potty during dinner so while I usually don't opt for ayce, this experience seemed even more questionable that my dad couldn't handle it lol.
All in all I'm glad I experienced it because I can cross it off my list now! I think if the meat quality was better it wouldn't be a bad option bc for the price we paid we could've bought A LOT more higher quality hot pot meat and got soup base from market and ate at home. nothing else was really special here besides the soup.
