I have been a faithful regular at this wonderful little restaurant since 2006. The price is right, the food is consistently fantastic. Every once in a while I will run into an inexperienced server, but nine times out of ten the service is good. VERY vegetarian and vegan friendly. I highly recommend the Crazy Noodle with Tofu and the Summer Rolls. The Green, Panang, and Yellow Curry dishes are all fantastic. Admittedly, this is probably one of the better places to get Asian fare in Springfield, IL. However, the aromatic vegetables (i.e. onions, green peppers, etc.) are consistently under cooked. I typically enjoy these vegetables in my food, but must remember to ask for my food to be cooked without these items at Little Saigon. Unless you like eating copious amounts of [essentially] raw peppers and onions in your food, you may also find that it is a bit much. The Drunken Noodles are great! Food = okay. I had the steak with rice and fried egg, along with an egg roll and soup. Their soup was totally bland (yeah, I gave it to my friend who loves it). Wow!! The whole experience was great. Fresh, bright, welcoming place with a large menu. Offers specials from Vietnam, China and Thailand. I enjoyed every bite of the Vietnam crepe (Bahn Xeo)....delicious rice flour crepe, fried and stuffed with shrimp, beef, bean sprouts and spices....accompanied by a fresh salad. My wife liked her eggplant with chicken dish and daughter had Mei Fun (fried vermicelli with vegetables and beef). Portions are generous, the three of us could have easily shared two entrees family style. Excellent value for what you get. Our server was very helpful and pleasant and attentive. Spacious dining area, very friendly, speedy staff and a varied menu. I ordered Pad Woosen (a bean thread glass noodle dish with broccoli, pea pods and baby corn). Loved it! Hubby had Tam Ga (2 grilled and boned chicken thighs, rice, salad and a side dipping sauce). He usually goes for pad Thai, but he tried something completely different and loved it too. Tried this place again and still think the same thing. Its just OK. This time I had a Viet soup with wontons and shrimp. While it was a huge portion, the flavor just wasnt there. It was very bland and watery, no salt or spice at all. I literally felt like I was eating a large bowl of barely flavored water with flavorless shrimp and wontons. Tried the dumpling appetizer, which was good. Also had a bite of the ginger chicken which seemed like it had a bit more flavor. The spicy noodle dish I ordered had some flavor, but wasnt spicy. After a long day on the road, the meal here was particularly welcome. I started with the Tom Yum chicken soup, which was both delicious and generously sized. (I would have preferred Tom Kha Gai, but it seems there were no coconut milk soups on the menu. Yes, I realize this is a Thai soup not Vietnamese.) We came here for Mother's Day on a short holiday, and we were pleasantly surprised. The quality of the food was on par with any fine Chicago Vietnamese restaurant. We had hot wings for appetizers (mild for the kids), beef pho (which had a ton of noodles), lo mein chicken (sans vegetables for my weird kids), and Panang curry. The quality of the noodles was a tasty surprise as they were thicker than what we are used to, but fresh. There was a great selection of beers at a reasonable price from Chinese to Japanese beers (gold star). The place was also family-friendly, and the wait staff was excellent and exceedingly patient with our asks. My only complaint was with the Panang curry because they couldn't make the sauce thicker, and often restaurants do on request. I wonder if the ownership changed? Spring rolls were mostly lettuce, super-chewy skins. Very bland. Mom and I had the crepes and they were awful. Thick, overcooked, super greasy crepe. Filled almost exclusively with bean sprouts and a small piece or two of chicken. Dipping sauce was bland and flavorless. Cilantro was the only herb offered. Most of our food went uneaten. Great value! Wonton soup can be a total miss but ordered it based on Yelp reviews. It was good. Wonton skins were thin but not falling apart, filling and broth were tasty. I'm a huge fan of this place, Springfield is my hometown and I always stop here when I'm in town. I typically get their basil chicken (myself and my mom love) and pad thai (its good but not the best I've had). My parents eat here at least once a month. They are a mess! They make it very difficult to order. No delivery- fine. I drive there all doors are locked and very unclear what to do. I finally drive up to the window and they said I had to call my order in and he could bot take it. I said I would go somewhere else who wants to take my order and my money! Terrible customer service. Let me preface that I am from LA and have had many Thai dishes from the East San Gabriel Valley to Thai Town. We were looking forward to eating there because it's one of the few places you can get vegetables in Springfield. I ordered the Tom Yum Soup which is supposed to be flavored with keifer lime and chili. I even asked the waiter if he knew the soup's base flavors and he didn't know which should have been a warning to me. The soup tasted as though it was made with honey-it was sickly sweet and it had tomatoes in it which is very untraditional. My main course was cashew with vegetables and chicken. Heavy on the green and red peppers and not much else. Their wine is around $3 and was quite awful but I should have known better,too for this price. I told the waiter I really disliked the soup and he did not take it off the bill which was $8. It was a very disappointing meal all around. read more

I have been to Little Saigon quite a few times when I am in Springfield. None of the visits have been amazing but the food has always been good. Service is fast and smoothies are good. I had the lychee and mango smoothie this time around. Very refreshing and sweet but i could barely taste any mango in it. I've had their Thai dishes in the past and have been disappointed by the authenticity of their flavors. They are watered-down versions of what the Thai dishes should taste like. I got the Beef Salad this time around and although it was cheap, it was quite underwhelming. I ordered their Pho Tai Bo Vien and enjoyed their broth very much and the abundant amount of noodles. The meatballs and rare steak were generic, tasted cheap, and seemed store-bought but there was a lot and surprisingly they tasted good. It was not the best pho I've ever had but it was a darn tasty interpretation of pho. I recommend them for lunch and plan to return back to explore more of the menu in the future. read more

Great place for Asian food in Springfield. The menu is pretty daunting but the photos definitely help. Most busy nights there is only a half hour wait or so, but we got in on New Year's Eve right away. Prices are fair, and the food is good but very basic. It's simply South Asian food, no bells or whistles. I've been pretty happy with it every time I've gone. I recommend the Pho Ga, which is served with bean sprouts and greens in a little plate on the side. The atmosphere is good, and the drinks are very good, even though I've never been a fan of tapioca balls. There's no Thai food in the town where I come from so I'm always looking when I'm on the road. Saw this place had decent reviews so I stopped in for some lunch. The menu is great, pictures for every dish but not in a tacky way. This is really helpful for me since I don't speak Vietnamese or Thai, LOL. Don't let that put you off though. The quality of the food was excellent, as was the service. I had chicken satay which was very tasty and nice quality meat. I also had the lunch special basil dish with chicken, medium spicy, which was just right for me. The lunch special included a bowl of soup which was also tasty, hot and served promptly.
