This has to be one of the more "wow" experiences I've had in a while…read more I've lived in the area, less than 1/4 mile as the crow flies, from this place for most of my life. Yet I've never been in the storefront. I've had their stuff from other stores, and knew about them, but for some odd reason never branched out until now and it was very pleasant. I was greeted at the door with a smile, when I said what I wanted, the owner immediately came out and started helping me load up my basket with the package I had requested. When something was out she would sub it with something better. By the time I left, I had a pretty decent haul for a very reasonable price! I've only tried a few things so far from this visit, being the Canadian bacon (weird I never knew how much I liked this until now) and the teriyaki meat sticks. But they have been very good. I will definitely come back soon and get some more!

They also have a bathroom (if you've been on the road awhile this is always a great find). The prices were really good. Huge pumpkins for $6 (wish we'd bought one) and we got a bunch of items including cucumbers, the sandwich and chips for under $20. The woman working there was super nice. She even gave us some lemon grass to dry and use in a tea. I wish this were closer to home as their meat selection looked fantastic but we couldn't buy meat mid-way through a vacation hours from home. Definitely next time though!

The staff there is always friendly and helpful. The lines at the registers are never long.

The mini grilled cheeses were prepared as expected and packaged well... but the plastic packaging of the lobster corn chowder wasn't as easy to deal with and too much of the chowder got stuck in nooks and crannies of the plastic pack, making it quite messy to deal with. There's GOT to be a better way to ship chowder product. Besides the issues with the packaging for the chowder, I found the chowder itself to be runnier than expected - and also contain less than expected of both the corn and lobster components. Given the cost of purchase for this chowder ($48), I was expecting much more. I love a good treat while I'm continuing to work from home during this pandemic, but I'm not in a rush to order from Hancock Gourmet Lobster again. There are plenty of other places I can order lobster-related deliciousness from.

The mussels were tasteless. As for the chowder, we're big fans of Boston Sail Loft...true chowder (wouldn't be delivered on time so we took a chance...Ooops!). This soup was a poor excuse...thin (runny) a few bits of chopped clam and very bland. No where near what I expect of a chowder. Wasn't worth eating high calorie broth. Other than that, the packaging was great! This was a total miss, based our order on the reviews.

The staff are fairly friendly unless you go on a Saturday morning when all have gathered for their weekly stock up. I too would be stressed and hard to humor if I was in their shoes. So go Tuesday-Thursday if you want to by-pass the madness.

It's got so much character, and the people running it are some of the nicest humans ever. I don't think I've ever left without a smile on my face, or without a bottle (or two) of something new and interesting. Their selection is incredible; not just wine, but also vermouths, Campari, and even pasta and bread?! Like, what don't they do? And the vibes??! Perfection. In the winter, it gives a mix of Scandinavia and Spain, and I'm so here for it. Oh, and they have a full wine bar with pours and bites. Just go... you'll thank me later.
