Found some delicious treats and said hello to all the farmers that I haven't seen since last fall. I love this place. The farmers and vendors are always so kind and helpful and there to answer any questions you might have. Having the market in this spot, is nice because it's a beautiful park so lush and green! Plus you can grab lunch at a variety of local food trucks.

We specifically stopped here as we saw that Hootenany Bread Company was going to be there. I'm glad we got there right around 10am as there was already a line starting to form in front of his stand. We were able to buy 4 plain bagels and a couple of chocolate croissants to enjoy for the day and they were amazing! I can't wait to see him again. Every vendor there had people in front of their stands and hearing them all engage in conversation about their business was so nice. There is such a human element to this market. Felt more people focus than business focused. The grounds were clean and each vendor was placed within a reasonable distance. Didn't have to walk too far to the next and you didn't feel like you were on top of people either. Parking can be a challenge if you can't walk far, especially with the main street construction happening near Bull Moose/Tontine Mall (September 2025). But if you can find parking and you enjoy farmers markets, I would highly recommend this market.

Side note: once I walked in and saw an older couple doing a duet of Purple Rain with the guy playing his guitar- awesome! The vendors are fairly consistent and they each snuggle into their usual spots. I personally bee line to the Farmers' Daughter table for the whole wheat cranberry English muffins. I couldn't tell you the man's name, but he is an absolute gentle soul, always with a grin on his face. Actually, all the vendors seem to be happy to be there and that says a lot. I have heard from some vendors that they sometimes do trades with each other with their goods. How cool. "I will give you three mushrooms for a homemade whole wheat chocolate chip cookie!" Update: starting last year they started a lunch counter. The chef buys all her ingredients from the vendors and creates tasty sandwiches. Yum!

The line up is an eclectic mix of Maine products and vendors. Whether you need a sweater (or her lamb), specialty vinegars (and recipes), or any other delicious housewarming or holiday present, the market offers a diverse array of products besides the organic produce and other goodies. We like providing them to our VRBO guests too. We do wish they would move Hootenanny's Bread to the south end of the market near Dharma Farms and Kelly Bros beef-- it would reduce the congestion from the long lines and make the "main street" of the market more enjoyable. The market moves indoors with fewer vendors in November-- being in the historic freight shed is a little more crowded but also cozy as the winter months progress. And our freezer is never without a Mainely Poultry pot pie or two, some haddock "burgers", or a Chase Farms apple pie. It's our kids (and their kids) favorite activity when they visit.

Grab yourself some totally goattly chipotle cheese, a few loaves from the Van Gogh of Dough, and some chicken legs from Maine-ly Poultry. And even if they aren't punny, pick up some fresh eggs, crab dip, squash, sage bundles for spiritual wellness, handmade candles, peppers of all kinds, shepherd's pie, heritiage pork, and the best jam ever. That's just a little bit of the selection. And if you tell the folks selling bulbs for your garden that you don't have a garden because you lead a sad life in NYC, they will offer a sympathetic, "Awwww." But my favorite thing about this market? There was a little kid trying to buy a pumpkin, and he dropped it. The nice vendor said he could still have it, but now it's a squash. I'm going to be using that dad joke for decades to come.

Vendors are always happy to answer questions. The parking outside tends to be crowded so if you don't mind walking, there are nearby public parking spots/lots in Maine St. The entrance is in the corner/center of the mill (flea market on the left side of the building and Dutchman's Bagels on the right). Once in the building, the market is to the right. There is an info table upon entering. You can purchase Bumper Crop coupons for 5$ a piece, that can be used at most, if not all, booths.
