We're local now, so this is a year-round destination for us. In the summer it's outside in Bath's…read moreWaterfront Park (usually from late April through mid-October) and in the winter, a smaller version is in the historic Bath Freight Shed which is also home to the Maine's First Ship Museum. The line up is an eclectic mix of Maine products and vendors. Whether you need a sweater (or her lamb), specialty vinegars (and recipes), or any other delicious housewarming or holiday present, the market offers a diverse array of products besides the organic produce and other goodies. We like providing them to our VRBO guests too. We do wish they would move Hootenanny's Bread to the south end of the market near Dharma Farms and Kelly Bros beef-- it would reduce the congestion from the long lines and make the "main street" of the market more enjoyable. The market moves indoors with fewer vendors in November-- being in the historic freight shed is a little more crowded but also cozy as the winter months progress. And our freezer is never without a Mainely Poultry pot pie or two, some haddock "burgers", or a Chase Farms apple pie. It's our kids (and their kids) favorite activity when they visit.

Not only is this waterfront market the most picturesque place imaginable in autumn, but all the…read morestellar vendors also have delicious things for sale AND personality to spare. Grab yourself some totally goattly chipotle cheese, a few loaves from the Van Gogh of Dough, and some chicken legs from Maine-ly Poultry. And even if they aren't punny, pick up some fresh eggs, crab dip, squash, sage bundles for spiritual wellness, handmade candles, peppers of all kinds, shepherd's pie, heritiage pork, and the best jam ever. That's just a little bit of the selection. And if you tell the folks selling bulbs for your garden that you don't have a garden because you lead a sad life in NYC, they will offer a sympathetic, "Awwww." But my favorite thing about this market? There was a little kid trying to buy a pumpkin, and he dropped it. The nice vendor said he could still have it, but now it's a squash. I'm going to be using that dad joke for decades to come.

Found some delicious treats and said hello to all the farmers that I haven't seen since last fall. I love this place. The farmers and vendors are always so kind and helpful and there to answer any questions you might have. Having the market in this spot, is nice because it's a beautiful park so lush and green! Plus you can grab lunch at a variety of local food trucks.

We specifically stopped here as we saw that Hootenany Bread Company was going to be there. I'm glad we got there right around 10am as there was already a line starting to form in front of his stand. We were able to buy 4 plain bagels and a couple of chocolate croissants to enjoy for the day and they were amazing! I can't wait to see him again. Every vendor there had people in front of their stands and hearing them all engage in conversation about their business was so nice. There is such a human element to this market. Felt more people focus than business focused. The grounds were clean and each vendor was placed within a reasonable distance. Didn't have to walk too far to the next and you didn't feel like you were on top of people either. Parking can be a challenge if you can't walk far, especially with the main street construction happening near Bull Moose/Tontine Mall (September 2025). But if you can find parking and you enjoy farmers markets, I would highly recommend this market.

I knew by Day 4 of our Mt. Dessert Island vacation, that I'd be lobstered-out and would need fruit…read moreand vegetables. That's why I bookmarked Beech Hill Farms ("BHF") in Yelp. I understood that BHF has a great Farm Market. BHF delivered on that and more. I arrived 10 minutes before BHF opened its gate at 9 am. By 9, five different cars had parked nearby so they could have pick of the Market. The customers mostly seemed like local Mainers, but there were some folks taking pics as well. After I parked, I scurried to the Market and didn't notice the surrounding area yet. The produce looked beautiful with its purples, greens, oranges, reds, yellows and dark blues. I bought fresh wild Maine blueberries, cucumbers, carrots, a multi-colored bell pepper, yellow-orange heirloom tomatoes, an eggplant and mixed salad greens. The blueberries were delicious. I made a great dinner salad with the non-eggplant veggies. I'll grill the eggplant tomorrow. I bought a few other local products. A baguette that was terrific with a local blue cheese I also bought from BHF. Granola I haven't tried yet. And a blueberry pie made by "Gayle Arnold Tucker". I don't know who that is, but in my mind she's a 5th Generation local pie legend. The crust was to-die-for and the blueberry filling had great flavor and consistency. BHF also sold things such as milk, eggs, honey, kimchi, jarred products and beverages. It was a terrific-looking farm Market with great stuff. After my purchases, I explored the grounds. There was a green house with row after row of farm fresh and fragrant garlic and things like starter vegetables. Picnic tables. Fruit trees. And my favorite thing of all - rows of gorgeous wild flowers that were a big draw for bees and . . . the most monarch butterflies I've ever seen in one naturally occurring place. I don't even know how many there were. I saw five at a time when I was looking up. I spent about 15 minutes taking butterfly photos and got some awesome pics. I limited myself to one in the Yelp photos I posted. The flower photo opportunities are also outstanding. I'll put my BHF pics up against my Acadia pics any day. If you like exploring Farmers Markets and/or great photo opps, I guarantee you'll enjoy Beech Hill Farms, at least in August. Five Stars
