We have flown home with Coney Island chili from Michigan from the likes of Lafayette and Senate, and have been hankering for the smothered coney. We got one of the Detroit style coney's and the Flint. The Detroit style has a snappy dog smothered with coney chili- not a chunky chili with beans and chunks, it's smooth, almost creamy, topped with white onions and mustard! That's the way you eat them! The Flint style reminded me of the other style of dogs, with a beefy, seasoned, chunky hamburger layer on that snappy dog, same white onions and mustard. The bun was soft, fresh bouncy buns. And don't forget the fries! Hot and crisp on the outside! It made hubby's day to round off this meal with Faygo cream soda and Vernor's ginger ale! We didn't get the moon pie- another Michigander favorite, but all in all, made my hubs happy to have a taste of home during this time.
