Spicy Korean Rice Cake Ramen (special winter warmer menu)
    Eric D.

On a cold October evening my wife and I arrived to fill the last table at Little Kyoto. You can tell it's a family establishment and that they take pride in each plate they serve. The rolls are more moist than expected, quality rice with a superior filling ratio. We really enjoyed the seasonal ramen; the spice level was great for the cold outside. Will be back!

Best sushi in North Idaho! Authentic and fresh sushi. Absolutely delightful. We also had the gyoza and it was delicious.

Food wasn't super impressive due to the quality of the fish. Maybe it's just because I have had years of experience with eating sushi & raw fish. This place is super small and the wait time for food took a little bit. Seemed like there was only two people working. Seating is limited & I would highly recommend calling ahead if you plan to check this place out

The bad: Limited menu The good: amazing sushi, Nigiri, Teriyaki and rolls - best in the area!!! The ugly: limited hours and sometimes a little slow If you're lucky enough to visit when they're open M-Thursday then you will get amazing food. My favorite is sushi bento lunch with a volcano roll to share.

Great service and Delicious food @ Little Kyoto in Hayden, ID. !! We had dinner during a week day and I'm glad to have run across this on Yelp because the curb appeal does not do it justice. Straight forward and quick service from gentlemen. We would have liked a fuller menu, but what we ordered was very delicious and full of flavor. Simple decor, clean, and tidy. We would dine here again for sure.

    Spicy tuna, and salmon rolls

Most unpretentious sushi restaurant I've been in. Nice folks, easy-going, very basic. Perhaps I ordered the wrong thing, going with just your basic rolls, and nothing fancy. I dined on a Tuesday night, the tuna was old, perhaps leftover from the weekend? The salmon was just OK. Nothing to celebrate here. Other orders looked good. Perhaps just wrong order on wrong day, but this was only as good as average supermarket sushi. I think this place can do better.

Hours are basic. Open Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday.....lunch 11:30-1:30. Dinner 5- 7:30. 3 person restaurant. AMAZING FOOD! Dinner gets busy, we try to go a couple of times a month for lunch. I have had sushi all over, I will not order on vacation anymore, because Little Kyoto is so good! Prices are excellent for quality, owner David will not serve the fish if it's not fresh.

Come on in to the yellow house! This place for completely full by 12 pm. I had a quick lunch and it was great. Salted Edamame, friend calamari with sweet & sour sauce, and ahi tuna tower. My favorite was definitely the tower. It is catered to the community it serves. This place would not be a typical place I would go in So. California due to all the sauces on the rolls. It was a good experience!

I love this place. My son and wife too. Service is amazing as they've always gone beyond the call of duty to serve us in the two visits we've been here. The wait time for sushi is just what I would expect it to be, comparing it to other sushi restaurants. It takes about 10-15 minutes, but good sushi is always worth waiting for. And this is great sushi. They put the biggest and freshest pieces of fish on their sushi than any other place in the CDA area; and it tastes delicious! Because of all that, this is our new favorite sushi house. Our friend had told us this was their favorite sushi so we had to find out why. We were somewhat in disbelief that the best sushi in the CDA area was in North Hayden away from most other restaurants. But there you have it: the best sushi in the area. The place is clean and they have a TV which is currently always playing basketball, which is fine by me. Until football season.

The closest roll is their crunch roll. The second is their Hawaiian roll. And in the back that is an (already eaten) volcano roll! SO YUMMY
    Katrina B.

This is the BEST sushi I have ever had in Idaho, and probably tops all other places I've eaten at in the pnw. Their teriyaki and beef bulgogi is so natural tasting, it's delicious. All of their food is cooked fresh to order, so although you might have to wait for the tables in front of you to get their food ... the wait is worth it!! It's a family restaurant so there are only 6 tables. Very clean and very great service. I recommend that you don't come starving, because it is a little bit of a wait, but don't ruin your appetite because you'll regret it once your food comes. They also do a nice job at bringing out any appetizers you ordered, out to you quickly. Amazing food, you have to try it! Our favorites are the crunch roll, the tuna roll, the ahi tuna tower, the volcano roll and the Hawaiian roll! The sauces on these are to die for!!

We were greeted and sat immediately with menus. We got hot tea while we looked over the menu. I noticed right away they had lots of options and many rolls to choose from--even the pickiest of eaters are sure to find something! For appetizers, we ordered edamame and Rock Shrimp. Edamame was perfectly salted and warm. The tempura fry on the Rock Shrimp was spot on. The yum yum sauce was decent but lacked flavor and season imo..may have been too much mayo in this batch but all good, because the shrimp was amazing all by itself. The tempura was nice and airy and the shrimp was still juicy and tender. For entrees, my roommate ordered the Chicken Katsu and his mom and I feasted on the Sushi & Sashimi for 2, which comes with 10 pieces of sushi, 15 pieces of sashimi, chef's special choice roll, and subbed our Tempura shrimp roll for a Rock n Roll. Man oh man! When the sushi arrived, it was presented beautifully and truly looked like art. Not to mention, it was SO DELICIOUS! Every piece and every bite was amazingly fresh. Hats off to the sushi chefs for doing a fabulous job. The ratio of fish to rice was on point! My roommate said the Chicken Katsu had a good cook to it and that he really liked the sauce it came with. Unfortunately I did not get our servers name and not so sure she had a name tag on. However, she was patient with us in regards to when we ordered and attentive throughout the meal. We came at a good time as the restaurant filled up by the time we left. I will definitely be back for more sashimi!

Our favorite was the Coeur d'Alene Roll, but the other two were also very tasty and unique. The Cowboy Roll has filet mignon on it, which was a new spin on sushi for us. The Blue Mountain Roll was actually shaped like triangles and had very good flavor and texture to it with just the right amount of roe mixed in. It's tough finding good sushi this far inland from the ocean, but Shiki sure raised the bar for this area. It will be our new go to for sushi here.

Rolls were too loosely wrapped and rice not cohesive. Their version of "Sushi" just falls apart. Tobiko: does not appear fresh. It has a hazy appearance when it should be clear and bright. Not taking risk of eating. The seaweed wrap of the tobiko is twice the length it should be, leaving the excess flapping in the wind and unwinding leaving rice ball disintegrating onto the container. Unable to pick up "sush" serving. Going straight into trash. Nigiri: Ratio of rice to fish unacceptable. I question the grain of rice used. Rice is not pressed together causing it to fall apart as it is lifted. The oiliness of the salmon is suspect. In hind sight, I'm concerned about getting sick from improper refrigeration of the fish. Fingers crossed. Wait time: very slow. Value: nope. Better quality, flavor, and final product at conveyor belt sushi. Seriously, this place has no business trying to make sushi. It's embarrassing. HOW did they even get a score above 1 star is beyond me. "Kevin-san"...tried his best, but no. I watched him try and cut rolls with a cruddied up knife blade packed with rice...oof!

However, I got there and the guy asked if I had done a call ahead order. I told him that I hadn't that I was just walking up for dinner. He then told me that they might not be able to make me dinner because they had so many orders. This means they're a victim of their own success, and that's a good problem for them to have, but it doesn't make for a great dining experience. He ended up asking me what I wanted to order, which I thought was a little odd after he had told me that they probably weren't going to be able to serve me. I told him, and he told me that they could probably "fit me in" but it that it would be a 20 to 30 minute wait. So I waited. To be fair, they did eventually get me my sushi. It was good, not great. They did this thing that I don't really appreciate where they put wasabi in the rolls. Not that I don't like wasabi, but don't put wasabi in the role or on my individual pieces of sushi. The last thing about this place that I would say, is that it is quite expensive. I understand that sushi is always expensive, but there is less expensive just as good sushi options in Coeur d'Alene other than this location. It's also just a food truck, which I think is super cool, but it's in a shared parking lot, and there's not really any outdoor seating. So this is definitely a to-go location. I would definitely go back if somebody else wanted to check it out, I don't know that I would make a special trip to revisit this location.

Every time he walked by he would check our drinks or ask us if we needed anything... top notch ! The food - it's on the pricier side but worth the experience. We started off with the baked Brie and the blue cheese wedge. The baked Brie was unique. The Brie was wrapped in a house made phyllo dough and covered in caramel sauce. Accompanied by Some fruit and bread. Unique and well executed. The wedge was wonderful. Very tasty house made blue cheese dressing and bacon (I think adding some tomato or onion would have broken up the saltiness) but was still great tasting We ordered the sweet pork chop. I was impressed how moist and tender they cooked the pork.. I have to admit that it was too sweet. Even for me, who has a crazy sweet tooth. It was a unique pairing, but left no room for savory. We also ordered the seafood fettuccini. I believe they house make their pasta and Alfredo sauce. It didn't come with a ton of seafood (a couple large prawns and a few bacon wrapped scallops) but hit the spot. Their house bread they serve with your meal is the highlight! A little loaf of breast drenched in a garlic butter sauce! I'm salivating just thinking about it! I' have to admit, I have high expectations, and this place is probably the better of the many other local eateries I've tried .
