We were trying to go to a different restaurant in the building but they were closed so we went here instead and were happy we did. The service was very sweet and accommodating, The waitress gave good recommendations, and was very very sweet. She even offered my little one a little tofu on the house. The ambience was fine, nothing special but it was pretty cool that it looks like they had a second level. The food was very yummy and tasted authentic. We got gyoza with a yummy dipping sauce, tempura veggies and shrimp, and the Mexican sushi. It was all very delicious. Will definitely return with the rest of the family! read more

The location, service and menu were excellent. We really liked the heart attack appetizer. The roll was big and we were very full. The atmosphere was nice, the place was very clean. I got the gyoza dumplings and they were delicious. The soy sauce that came with it was amazing as it had an added spice to it that wasn't too spicy. I also got the Maki tuna roll and it was amazing. The service was my favorite part. The lady helping us with our takeout was outstanding and the sweetest. Not bad, but not great sushi. On the plus side, the food was prepared quickly and the staff is friendly. Got the lion king, aloha, and treasure island and was mostly disappointed with the rice which was somewhat cold and hard (and way too much for a roll). Fish itself was alright, but didn't have that full, deep flavor that comes w fresh sushi. Came w some interesting sauces (my guess is they were mango, yuzu-furikake, and hoison), but no soy sauce. Definitely a different sort of sushi spot that has the same prices as others, but works if you're in the area and have a craving for sushi. read more

I tried this place for the first time as DiNardi's Italian restaurant was packed with new students getting ready for the new school year at Gonzaga. I had the nigiri and spicy tuna roll combo plate that came with a salad and miso soup. On the positive side the cost of this meal was more reasonable and $4-5 less than other sushi spots around town - probably because the college students frequent this place quite a bit (based on who was there eating last night). But on the negative side, the fish pieces for the nigiri were not quite as tasty nor large as I have had them at other sushi restaurants in town. The miso soup was good but I've had better elsewhere too. The salad was plentiful and tasty. I'll need to try this place at least one more time top decide if I should continue coming here when wanting a sushi dinner. read more

This sushi is amaaaazing!!!! And they're rolls are huge! The best combo. I normally go with the Mexican roll, but I've tried around 8 rolls and haven't found one I don't like! Had a great experience! Attentive and friendly wait staff. Went in on a Saturday night, there was only one person in there when I showed up (don't let stop you from coming!). I order the tuna and a baked roll (blcr). Before my food came out they brought me edamame and miso soup. The soup was delicious! The tuna was nice and fresh. After a 12 hour day at the hospital, I was on the verge of a hunger meltdown. There wasn't time for lunch, so when 6:30 hit, my stomach was touching my back and it was screaming for sushi. I'm traveling and I've only been in the area once. I read the last review for Otori, and homegirl was SATISFIED with her food. And I wanted to be satisfied too! I ordered mango mochi icecream to snack on while my sushi was being made. YUM. I ordered 2 rolls, miso. FAM, I had the green tea too. Ya girl was hungry and thirsty, do not judge me. I had the pleasure of dining at the Otori Japanese Restaurant today on my way through Spokane as I traveled. It was by chance that I stopped. I've lived and work in Japan and appreciate good Japanese cuisine. The salad with ginger dressing was spot on. The pan fried gyoza(pot stickers) were perfect. Miso soup is excellent, California rolls were fresh and moist and excellently flavorful. As were the beef short ribs. Every item was authentic and delicious. We went here not realizing at first that it was now Otori Sushi. We sat down, after being greeted immediately by someone, whom we later realized may have been one of the owners. We had our daughter with us, she's just under two. The service was outstanding, the gal was so nice and attentive! The food was awesome. We were really impressed! I would highly recommend getting the "heart attack" appetizer. I've never had anything like it! It was delicious. Our rolls were very original and delicious. Our daughter was able to have their miso, rice, and dumplings. We plan to go back soon! So happy to have this addition in Spokane! read more

Vegetarian review: I had the miso soup and the vegetable tempura roll. The miso soup was painfully bland - there was no miso taste whatsoever. The vegetable tempura roll was delicious, though. Pieces of tempura vegetables were wrapped rice and nori and then topped with a spicy mayonnaise - I added avocado to this roll and was really pleasantly surprised by the taste and texture. The dish was served with pieces of vegetable tempura served on the plate as well, and though well-fried in a very light, crisp tempura batter, the tempura veggies were very bland on their own. Of note, these seemed to be the only vegetarian dishes on the menu, and there were no vegan options. The restaurant is very stylish, simple, and streamline - it feels perfect for a downtown restaurant! In addition, the staff is friendly and attentive. I was served a roll from the kitchen as a gift, though unfortunately it was not vegetarian so I couldn't eat it. read more

We hit grand opening week and the service was doing their best to impress! Very attentive and prompt, two freebies on the house (a bowl of miso and a maki roll). We ordered veggie tempura and a cut Cali roll and they were delicious. The veggie tempura was generous and light. The Cali was 8 good sized pieces. My daughter enjoyed the miso (not a fan myself). Good but not great. My son loved the crispy Spicy Tuna roll. He said it was really good. I got the Red Dragon roll and it was good but tasted not that fresh. It was expensive for just okay takeout. All the rolls came with a bad side salad, and some kind of awful soup. Tossed both, neither looked or smelled appetizing.
