I have taken a second look at the Avocado Roll Sushi. I love the colors of it. It looks very nice to eat. I have heard it is very healthy food. I have eaten some and liked it. I don't know if it's just the Japanese who started eating it or the Native Alaskans but it is sure good. I have heard fish is usually a good food anyway. Only giving a five because I can't give more. I'm amazed at this place! First, we went for dinner time on a Saturday and it wasn't busy at all, we got seated quickly. The ladies working were so attentive and kind! The ambiance was clean and peaceful. We ordered King Kong Roll, Godzilla, and Crunchy Spicy Tuna Roll. They came out so fast and so fresh! My absolute favorite was the Godzilla Roll, it has avocado and Eel on top. It was perfect, and the tempura shrimp was so fresh and crispy, which had never happened before for sushi which made it outstanding. I literally will have to be back next time I'm in Spokane. It's the best sushi I've had so far anywhere. Obviously they are doing a good job, when we were there multiple regulars came in to say hi and order. Can't wait to come back! read more

Small, bright, and open sushi restaurant with table and bar seating. Only one waitress working but she was very attentive. Food is hit or miss depending on what you order. We did not enjoy the baked roll. We ordered the rainbow roll, spider roll, popcorn lobster, and one of the baked rolls. The baked roll was a huge miss. Was not finished and my mom said even after we left it made her feel a bit gross. Even in the pictures (baked roll is in red boat), the baked roll was not giving baked. Way too much sauce and it didn't take longer as stated on menu and by the waitress... As for the other rolls they were delicious and we finished those. Spider roll was a hit. Spider roll was my fav part and rainbow roll is always my go to any sushi spot and they had fresh, tasty quality. We would avoid the baked rolls if we return. From the minute we walked in, great service from the wait staff. They answered all our questions and brought some great suggestions to our choices. The restaurant had a homey feel but was very put together and clean with a great asian flair! Also had a really clean bathroom! The miso soup was good and tasty! The sushi rolls we had were all immaculate. The cuts on the sashimi were perfect. The rice prepared well. The portions were typical of what you get in american sushi restaurants and the pricing matched. They had blue fin tuna and it was divine! One of my favorites I don't see very often on the menu. I had the very tasty ocean roll, which had White fish, Albacore tuna, yellowfin tuna, yellowtail, cucumber, topped avocado. Others had the baked Gonzaga Roll (Crab meat ,cream cheese, avocado inside,salmon and a sweet creamy dynamite sauce on top, baked fish and eel sauce,Contains peanuts) Bonzai Roll (Baked eel, salmon, crab mix, and cream cheese, (contains peanuts) and Chefs choice Sushi combo which came out pretty diverse. Last night, John surprised me with a visit to Avocado Roll Sushi (north Spokane, on Highway 395, in Heritage Square). To say I was impressed, would be an understatement. The restaurant was clean, the server was very nice. The owner was our sushi chef. Based on their name, I thought they just did rolls. I was wrong. Granted they do not have many dishes other than sushi, sashimi, and rolls...but that's all I ever get when I go out for sushi, so it was perfect for me. We tried a few rolls: King Kong, Ocean, Spicy Tuna, and a Yellowtail Roll. We also ordered one Tobiko nigiri and sashimi order of Bigeye Tuna. Service was fine. Very small restaurant. The food was pretty good. However their karage is not authentic and not very good at all though. I liked the roll that I got. We got the Christmas roll which was a special they were having for the winter. Our table was very wobbly and was leaned funky which was annoying. Other than that, no complaints. Came here for lunch and had a disappointing experience. They are super nice here, and we felt bad explaining why we weren't eating much, but two of the three rolls we ordered were not good today. The salmon on both had almost no flavor, except for being fishy and not fresh. They took it off the bill without us asking, and offered to make us something else, which we appreciated, but it was just too late. My husband did really like one roll he ordered that did not have salmon in it, the Toshi 24. There were a couple other small things to note. California rolls should really have cucumber inside, otherwise it's just too sweet and too mushy. It's not an expensive ingredient and it makes a big difference. Also, the poke tuna was cut into odd-sized ragged pieces, some of which weren't cut all the way through. This made picking the pieces out of the small bowl with chopsticks difficult. A larger bowl or cubed pieces would make it easier. read more

Went here for Saturday dinner with the family and the food was delicious. Started with some edamame for the kiddo and "Monkey Brains" for the adults. I was a big fan of the "Monkey Brains" and kiddo inhaled the edamame. Of the roll we got, the two stand outs were the "Cheesy" and "Fresh" rolls. The interior is warm and open which made it very comfortable to hang out in. The staff was polite and very friendly. Best sushi we have had in Spokane. Atmosphere: the atmosphere was what you'd expect from a place in a strip mall. Nothing fancy, some nice decor to look at, but nothing exceptional. Food: we tried this place because it has basically only five star reviews. I figured if it's THAT good - we have to go. We LOVE sushi. Well.. we were a little disappointed. The menu is short on non-fish apps and dishes, so you know they're good at their sushi/sashimi! The Ocean roll ($15) was fresh and a good size roll for the price. The shrimp and veggie tempura was okay but I wouldn't recommend. It came with asparagus tempura which was new to me, but the batter was a little heavy and not crispy enough for my liking overall. The waitresses were friendly but busy. They sat me at the bar (I was dining alone) and were just the right amount of attentive. The space seems small with only five seats at the bar but there were a few groups nonetheless and the intimate space felt sort of hole in the wall-like. Saw the good reviews here on Yelp, ignored the ones about tempura issues, and took my son here for his birthday per his request for Sushi. Hands down best sashimi/sushi I've had east of the cascades in Washington. The service was great, everything came out promptly, the rolls were great, and the amount of fish to the price was good. I also find it's hard to get things like Toro (fatty tuna) on the east side of the state, Avocado had it which just topped the evening off. Definitely going to come back and recommend to anyone looking for really good sushi in the area. read more

Let me start by saying this is the BEST sushi spot in Spokane. I have been to several over the years, and this hit every mark. Delicious, fresh fare, affordable prices, and the service was amazing. The server recognized someone nearby and asked about her kids, because she comes in whenever she's in town. I found it and I heard it was amazing so I immediately started ordering our faves. My lil man loves the California roll, he asked for more once it was gone. The seared salmon nigiri was awesome too. I have also loved a really good veggie roll myself. The nigiri my husband got he loved. And the appetizers were tasty too. I loved the packaging. For delivery we like to see compact packaging that is simple and that was great. The calamari was tasty - I air-fried the leftovers today. This was a really fun place to go. It's small but they're set up in a way it didn't feel crowded. Like most good things it requires patience. With one server (she was really great) things just take a moment. Despite that, we got our food in a timely manner. I didn't find myself looking. Some of it came seemingly too quickly. It was all really nice. It looked good. It tasted good. The Monkeybreaker was so delicious(not pictured because it was gone before I even thought to photograph it). All of the avocado was awesome like you'd expect. The fish looked great and the restaraunt had 0 funky scents which is always a plus. I felt like they read my yelp because my water was managed 100% which I always appreciate ;-) I was texting my family from the restaraunt and sending pictures. It's that kind of place. We stumbled upon this sushi restaurant in Spokane via social media. I was unable to find much about this place by a quick Google but there was a reason why! To our surprise- we arrived on the fourth day they have been open! This was only the soft opening of this restaurant but we were very shocked on how fast, friendly, efficient, and delicious this place was! The server was very knowledgeable about the menu! Looking at the menu we were convinced that this place must have a relation to QQ Sushi & Kitchen and South Hill Grill, but the question slipped my mind when arriving. There were so many similarities, but had an expanded menu! We have always been customers of QQ Sushi & Kitchen, but was this new competition? I almost missed my turn when picking up my order! It is a hole-in-the-wall place located in the Heritage Square strip. Keep your eyes peeled! The online ordering of this place is the best I've seen. You can pick to pay via the webpage or when you arrive. You will get a text AND email on when your order is placed and again when it has been received and being made (with an ETA of when it should be ready). When I arrived they were just finishing my order and I was on my way! The server separated the warm sushi rolls (styrofoam container) from the cold sushi rolls (clear plastic container) for our order. Great idea! When we got home we were in awe on how beautiful the rolls were. You can tell they put a lot of love into their work! Each sushi roll had its own sauce and I can't rave enough about how much they pair well with their rolls. The taste combinations were above what I was expecting and I must say, might beat out ALL the other sushi places in Spokane. The best part? They don't load up their sushi with a ton of rice! Trust me, my husband and I can live off sushi and always scout out new places to visit. This might just be the best sushi restaurant in Spokane! In summation, we would 100% eat here again. The decor and restaurant is very clean and beautiful. The food doesn't leave you with a bloated feeling and you are very satisfied after a few pieces. The staff is very friendly and welcome you right when you walk in! They even opened the door for us as we were leaving! The only concern is that I KNOW this place will outgrow it's current location.
