4/5 Visited Little ESE during their Christmas pop-up. The decor is festive and well done, and the space does not feel cramped despite how busy it gets. There is plenty of seating, including a heated patio. Reservations are recommended as the walk-in line was long. Items tried: Hot honey pizza: Thin crust with a slight crunch, ricotta on top, easy to share Naughty but Nice pitcher: Ginger-infused tequila with pomegranate and rosemary, well balanced Santa's Nightcap: Served cold, tastes similar to Captain Crunch cereal milk, surprisingly good Giant mozzarella sticks: Only two pieces, but very large and filling

Little Ese during the holiday season this year is transformed into a Christmas pop up called Naughty Nutcracker. I was was driving by to another bar and had to literally turn around to check it out! And so glad that I did, because it was probably one of the best Christmas bars I've been to in Toronto! The front bar area is beautifully decorated but no one sat at the front. They let us know that there was also a back section, and that's where everyone was. Every inch of the restaurant was beautifully decorated with holiday decor and was beautifully put together. The other great thing about this spot is that they actually had good drinks and food compared to other christmas pop ups. Here's what we got: Naughty But Nice 5/5 - Made with ginger infused tequila, pomegranate, triple sec, lime and agave. Loved this drink, it was festive, delicious, and refreshing. Holly Spritz 4/5 - A bit on the bitter side I think from the cinnamon. Made with Canadian club, peach, cinnamon, lemon juice and prosecco. Was good but definitely preferred the Naughty But Nice more. Mozzarella sticks 5/5 - Absolutely LOVED these. They were so cheesy, perfectly fried and came with a marinara dipping sauce. The cheese pull on these were incredible. Overall, I loved the experience here. Would absolutely come back to try more drinks and food. Heard their pizzas are delicious! Check them out for the holidays!

We came here for the Christmas popup experience and it did not disappoint! Out of all of the Xmas Popup venues by Peanut Gallery Hospitality (https://www.xmaspopup.ca) that we visited, Little Ese was my favourite. It was bigger than the other locations, and the decorations, mood, and ambiance were the best out of all of them. Service was very nice and friendly here. They had a patio outside, decorated with giant Santa Claus and Teddy Bear. The food selection wasn't the best, but the holiday decorations were 10/10. The Frosty's Horchata (mocktail) was way too sweet for me, and it tasted like milkshake from a diner. But it came in a cute Christmas penguin mug and decorated with colourful sprinkles, which made it look festive for photos. This place was good for holiday-themed photo ops and hang-out, but there wasn't anything special about the food.

This is a new Mexican/Italian restaurant patio and bar near Trinity. Replaced Noce restaurant that was there for years. Food (4/5) - menu is a mix of Mexican and Italian casual food - appetizers, pizza and sandwiches with a mix of summer patio type drinks on the menu. - Margherita Pizza - it was pretty good - bit of a hybrid napoli style - sauce had a good tang to it and crust had a good light burn and some chewiness. Service (4.5/5) - very attentive and friendly - you can tell they are really being extra attentive and welcoming as a new place... from the host at the front to the bar and servers. Atmosphere (4.75/5) - this place has so much potential and flexibility to accommodate different groups and scenarios - afternoon snacks/drinks, casual dinner, pre-game drinks or meetup. Cute indoor/outdoor dining tables/booths like you see in some Mexican cities. Full sun and shaded outdoor patio tables for evening drinks. Kinda similar to way Ruby Soho is set up. Overall (4.5/5) - definitely recommend checking it out. Patio/indoor areas are perfect for summertime drinks and snacks. Would be great to see a few more items on the menu for variety - like tacos or carne asada. I will definitely come back to try out more of the menu and enjoy some drinks on the patio.

The place is a bit small so it can be a bit tight so I would highly recommend having reservations if you have a large group. Tacos: The soft and the crispy tacos were both delicious. The tinga chicken and the beef barbacoa were juicy and full of flavour. The portions was fair, the quality was a standout and tasted quite authentic. Overall, I really had a great experience at Playa Cabana, totally would come here again to try out their other dishes.

When I went to the basement washroom, I swear I saw what looked like the end of a mouse's tail sticking out from under the door. Needless to say, I completely lost my appetite. When the waiter asked how everything was, I told him honestly that it was terrible. I had only taken two bites, and there was really no response. I wouldn't have wanted a replacement anyway after that experience. I also had some fruit bites, and about 10 minutes later my stomach started gurgling. By the time I got home, I felt awful. I was shivering, felt like I was going to throw up, and had to rush to the bathroom. It honestly felt like food poisoning. And I still paid for my meal Unfortunately, I can't recommend this place.

We got lucky and they were able to squeeze us into seats at the bar area, which ended up being the best possible spot because we had a front-row view of the live fire cooking the entire night. The ambiance was lively and hip, with a great energy that made the whole experience feel exciting. This was my first time watching each main courses get cooked over live fire in real time, which added to our amazement given that all the dishes came out cooked to the right doneness. Every bite of meat and seafood was perfectly kissed with flame -- the char, the subtle smoke, the texture. Beyond the fire element, you can really taste how fresh everything is. Nothing felt heavy or muddled. Each dish was well thought out with balanced flavors, but the ingredients and that fire/smoke magic were always the main event. Service was also superb. All the staff were attentive and high-energy. Different servers checked up on us throughout the meal, our water was always kept full, and dishes were cleared in a timely manner. Only drawback: the heat. Sitting by the fire is incredible for the show, but it definitely started to feel like a sauna at times. Still, I'd do it again and choose to sit at the bar without hesitation. If you're in Toronto and you love a tasting menu, this is a must. Just make sure you book at least a month in advance - it's popular for a reason.

Quetzal was recommend by our server when we were dining at a Vancouver Michelin restaurant (Barbara), as our server was originally from Ontario. So of course we saved it on our list for when we visited Toronto. Very very accommodating staff and attentive. All the tables next to us seemed to really enjoy their meals as well. Every dish was amazingly flavoured and presentation was on point. Atmosphere was lovely too, laid back but chic. Comfortable yet elevated. Highlight was the scallops, we asked for it to be included on our set menu, and they delivered. Can't wait to go back!

For food, the LC nachos are absolutely massive. The chips themselves are excellent, thick, super crunchy, and full of authentic corn flavor. But the absolute highlight for us was the tiger shrimp. It comes out beautifully in a skillet with a spicy, slightly creamy sauce that is just pure heaven, especially when you scoop it up with the warm flatbread. We also grabbed some tacos to share. My grilled steak taco was a little on the dry side, but it was still really tasty thanks to the super generous and fresh toppings. Even with a couple of minor misses, the standout dishes and great vibes totally win you over. I'd definitely come back, especially to load up on those nachos and shrimp again!
