To drink, she asked for a glass of The Federalist 1776 Cabernet Sauvignon, and I ordered a draft Vintage IPA from Collision Brewing Company. When the drinks arrived, I knew right away there was an issue with my draft beer because it had zero head on the pour. One sip confirmed that the draft lines had not been cleaned in a long time. My wife was equally disappointed with her Cabernet. It is not a bottle I was familiar with, but the quality was just not there for an Italian spot. The food was another miss for the table. Visually, my wife's Chicken Marsala looked bad from the start. The sauce had completely broken, leaving behind a greasy bowl of oily noodles and tough, overcooked chicken. My Pasta Arrabbiata tasted pretty good as far as the base flavors went, but it was way too spicy. I know how that sounds coming from someone who ordered a spicy pasta dish. Truth be told, I am the guy who always asks for extra hot green chili and eats roasted jalapeños with steak. I love heat, but this dish was over the top. It was 5-alarm hot rather than a balanced kick, and it would completely ruin the meal for an average diner. On top of that, my breaded chicken was overcooked and dry.
