We love this place! We have tried kid's classes and had a birthday party here and they have done an awesome job. They are so patient with the kids and they support their creativity with such care. They just started doing birthday parties where the kids get to decorate a custom cake and their own cupcakes with fondant and frosting, and we did so for a gang of 11 8-9 year olds. It was beyond amazing. The kids had SO MUCH FUN and the staff were so involved and accommodating to the kids. I can't recommend this place enough if you have kids who like to do cool things at a birthday party. (And our 5yo loved it too!) read more

Delightful boutique with lots of goodies for baking and decorating edible treats. Plenty of things you don't usually see in a brick and mortar store, like large tubs of several colors of fondant, sprinkle variety mixes, pre-made fillings, and other specialized items. It was really fun to just browse the selection and use it for inspiration. Somehow this was my first visit, despite the fact that I used to work close by and stop in this shopping strip fairly regularly for dinner. (Admittedly, that was in my pre-baking days.) I came in with a few baking projects in mind and was able to find the finishing touches from their selection. Also staff was friendly, and I wish they had more information about the classes other Yelpers have written about because I'd love to sign up. read more

Had a weekend project in mind that required specialty baking tools, cake boards, and fondant. Yelp and Google helped me locate Little Bitts as the closest cake supply store ... so youngest kid and I went to check it out. We arrived right during the week they are moving locations, so everything was in disarray and mid-move. Food coloring in baskets, boxes of supplies on the floor, shelves empty -- some stuff had already been moved, other stuff was getting packed up. And it was a fairly small space, so moving about the store while navigating through the boxes was interesting. They only had 2lbs containers of fondant - we were looking for 5lbs. Food coloring choices (what we could find) were limited. Boxes were also limited - needed a taller box but only 3" high were available. But there were a lot of items even so, and the cashier was lovely. We spent a while looking through the chaos which was fun, and got most of what we needed (or found stuff we could make do with) so we considered the trip a success. Will visit the new location when it's set up, and am sure I'll likely up the review rating to 5 stars at that time. read more

I was initially elated when I found out that this store was so close to me. My first trip a couple months ago I was only to get half of what I needed because they didn't have everything in stock. The store is a bit tight and jumbled with all the supplies. No biggie. I know they were just moving between locations. However, today on my 2nd trip there I received a $60 parking ticket because the store has ONE parking space. I should've double parked like the guy who entered the store at the same time of me. He blocked in a set of cars next to the store until the person left from the one space and then he took it. All other merchants have cones lined up in the subsequent spaces which are reserved for their customers. There is a parking lot at the end of the road infront of their old location and I parked in a space that said little bits shop. Do NOT park here. I made this mistake not realizing I needed a "special permit" to park there. I did mention to the clerk I believe her name is Ally, when I came in the store how difficult I found it to park and where I ultimately parked she didn't mention anything other than apologizing for the construction. When I bought my items and left the store and saw I had a ticket. I was in the store less than 7 min (if even that long). After I got to my car and saw the ticket. I called to ask her was I supposed to get something from their store to put on my dash as I looked around and saw other cars had that. I failed to notice that before. She said that the store was still working out the parking situation and that she would need to talk to the owner. Because they didn't have permits for parking. She noted when I mentioned my parking issues when I entered the store initally she thought I meant I had found a space in front of their old store location not the lot. Which isn't what I said at all. I will also flag those spaces were full and the other had a cone in it for the Liberian restaurant. So my $75 trip to the store to get supplies for a last min order ended up costing me so much more. With the $60 ticket. :-( She said she would check with the owner about what they can do. But I have a feeling I will end up just paying it. It goes up to $80 and then $110 if you fail to pay within a short time. Also I could request a court date. But that's also SUPER annoying. They have downsized the store space and so things are still a bit haphazardly on display. I didnt take pics today of the inside of the store. I was in a rush. They were also changing the display from where the Easter merchandise had been previously. I'm sure much of disorder is from customers putting things back in the wrong spots. I did find a few cookie cutters in the wrong boxes. The Americolor soft gel section is a bit of a mess. I'm not complaining because on a day like today they were a life saver. I called to make sure they had what I needed before I arrived and they did. I just think the owner could benefit from: 1) Having associates organizing the store in their down time to make sure when I reach for a llama cookie cutter I don't pull out an apple one instead. 2) Address the parking situation or offering permits to customers as the average time in the store is possibly less than 10 minutes. Have clearly marked signs inside the store OR at least on the front door of the store. I just happened to park in front of the sign that didn't have anything taped to it explicitly outlining you would get a ticket if parking here without a permit. Again noticed all of that after I got the ticket. Ugh!! One space designated for customers is unrealistic. I was so annoyed, I wanted to return all of my items, because they cost me a little more than the ticket. If I had not been jammed up needing to make a last minute cookie order for a client that's exactly what I would've done. I will think twice about coming to this location given the very difficult parking situation and it's right next to a huge constructions zone so it's a total cluster. In hindsight it's easier for me to order direct from Americolor/ CK and Amazon. I blame myself for not paying closer attention. But you've been warned. Shop/Park at your own risk! read more

I really love this little shop and will continue to make it my first stop for baking supplies ahead of Michael's and Amazon. I do A LOT of baking, and they have a really nice selection of cookie cutters and Americolor gels, both of which are less expensive than what I've found on Amazon. In fact, their pricing on almost all supplies is very competitive. They also have a good selection of flavorings/extracts, candy molds, Mercken's chocolates, royal icing decorations that actually look fresh (in contrast to the royal icing decorations at one popular cake supply in Fairfax which shall remain nameless), professional cake pans, cake and cupcake boxes, Ateco tips and even Russian tips, etc. It's well organized, and I've found the girls at the register to be really helpful and polite. If they don't know the answer to something, they go in back to ask the owner. I was really impressed by this store, and, if you've read any of my other reviews,...you know this is saying something - lol. read more

I came across Little Bitts Shop when driving around the area and putting in my GPS "cake supplies" - I'm so glad I did! This is an amazing small shop. And although prices are a bit high, the variety is great and customer service is superb. I needed to bake a unicorn cake and wanted to use sugar flowers; I was able to find a great selection here plus all sort of other things including pretty edible confetti and a nice selection of cookies cutters. I was there today , I've been going here for years and it has been great ! But I went in today and the stock was horrible the staff was horrible !! No help in finding what I needed. They just stood around looking at me!! The owner needs to come back to her business! I support all small business. I guess I'll go on amazon which is cheaper and more supply. 3/23/2017: The new owner Megan is really nice and knowledgeable about baking, supplies and what items work best for whatever project you're trying to accomplish. They have an insane amount of cookie cutters, sanding sugars, piping tips and bags, boxes, cupcake/muffin liners, Loraine Oils, food coloring/dyes, etc. You could get lost exploring for hours if you had the time. I was just there this afternoon and was sad to hear that the new owner of the building (not Megan, she owns the business) is making them downsize to the size of one store, instead having the rental space of two stores. I guess making the mighty dollar is more important to the building owner than carrying on over 30+ years of tradition of The Little Bitts Shop in Wheaton Triangle. So sad. But nonetheless, Megan remained cheerful and optimistic about the situation which was nice. I'm hopeful that they'll still be able to provide the variety of supplies with only half the space. This store is my go to store for everyday and speciality baking items. Oh and try one of the classes...they're very informative and all the goodies turn out great, even if you're just a beginner or an advanced baker! read more

I lived in Wheaton for two years and didn't know this shop existed until a few months ago. I would go to other chain stores for candy molds, but they didn't always have what I wanted. Little Bitts Shop is such a gem, and now I go there at least twice a month. They have so many molds. Practically for any theme - Thanksgiving, Halloween, Christmas, graduation, summer, sports, pets, animals, puzzles - you name it! They also carry pastry boxes of all sorts, a wide variety of flavorings, and so much more. For an amateur candy maker, this place is my go-to shop. read more

Went into Little Bitts today looking for a very specific product. The new owner Megan is such a doll, she took the time to show me exactly what I needed, explain to me how to use it and even gave me some pointers on how best to achieve the look I was going for. She took the time to answer all of my questions and even mentioned some classes coming up that I may be interested in. I was with her a good 1/2 hour and not once did I feel rushed or pressured to purchase anything I didn't need. She informed me of new products coming out and in all honesty I can't wait to go back! I truly love these mom and pop shops especially this one and I hope Little Bitts sticks around forever. I know they have my business for a LONG time. read more

Little Bitts has been part of our family since the 80's. I've always loved shopping there - huge selection of anything you need for candy making and baking. Lots of hard to find items, premade fills, confections, candy molds and cake pan, tools - things you never dreamed you needed to make the perfect treat. The new owners are incredibly nice and helpful. The store reorganization is GREAT and the classroom expansion is incredible. I hope they continue to expand the classes/partnership with experts - we have loved the recent classes. We'll be visit often!!! read more

I have been going to this shop since I was a kid with my mom, and I was so excited for the new ownership to take over, hoping it would improve. Unfortunately, I am sad to say they haven't. While the store is more organized, they rarely have what I need in stock. I live in walking distance, but have had to rely on online ordering elsewhere or big chain stores for a lot of my needs lately. The staff is not knowledgeable and often rude. I have been going to this store since the early 80's for their superb collection of chocolate candy molds, pre-made iced decorations and various baking items that I did not know I needed. I no longer live in Washington, DC, but consider Little Bitts a "must visit" destination whenever I return for a visit. The location of this store is slightly off the beaten path. I love this place! Their selection is amazing -- it is my go-to place for cake and candy making supplies. It's so much fun for me to pick out sprinkles, royal icing flowers, or whatever I need for my next celebration. It makes such a difference to see these things in person (as opposed to mail order). The staff is friendly and very helpful. The last time I visited, I was going to do my first royal icing cookie project. They helped me with my questions, advising me on how to plan my project and how to get the right consistency for the icing. They also have a great classes and parties at the shop. read more
