This place is a hidden gem that I had no idea about !!!! Where have I been ? I've been going to school at Santa Rosa Junior College for about two years now. I normally don't know much about Mendocino Avenue because I just go to and from school. I have been to that CVS and big lots in the shopping center that Lita's cafe is, but I've never seen it there or noticed it. Well two days ago I had some hours to kill between classes and I didn't want to leave campus so I walked into that shopping center to see what they had because I needed to eat some sort of breakfast or lunch. And I saw Lita's Café and looked at their menu outside and it looked delicious so I went in and had a seat! Everyone that works there was very nice and I immediately sat down and I had a nice cozy place to relax and eat and read my book before I had to go to class. The menu is pretty big and has a lot of good choices on there for breakfast and lunch. I just got the basic breakfast special which was eggs, hashbrowns bacon or sausage and toast. I also got a side of that oatmeal. IT WAS SO DELICIOUS!!!! I ate every single Piece of food on my plate! The bacon was nice and crispy, the hash browns were perfectly cooked. The oatmeal was amazing (not too runny or Too cakey) and came with brown sugar and cream. It was heavenly. The atmosphere in there was really nice, it looked like there was a lot of "regulars" eating there, and it was just really pleasant to have a delicious meal and to sit there and read my book and relax. And also have a great service! The prices are really good for the amount of (delicious) food that you get. I'm so glad I found this hidden gem right by school, I'll most definitely be coming here ALOT MORE! Ordered from them through door dash was very particular about what I wanted. Spent like 40+ my kid got chicken strips they were dry and over cooked the out side looked like maybe they were cooked in old oil. The French dip didn't have enough meat to cover the bread so you fill up on that. The meat she have also been cut thinning to make up that room. I would be lying of I said I wasn't a bit disappointed. Let me start by saying the staff was all very friendly so my concerns with this establishment has nothing to do with that. However, it was so chaotic! We sat down immediately, (you seat yourself) & was given our drinks rather quickly. To have our order taken took a good amount of time. We could see the waitress standing looking very flustered, from what I could gather I think there was a problem with a previous ticket. She eventually made her way over to us and was very friendly. She took our order and the long wait began again. We continued to watch her seem stressed out as well as another lady on the other register. I honestly felt a bit bad for the girl because she was visibly flustered. The food came out and was not bad, except for the sausage. (I am not sure what kind it is but it was extremely salty.) We came here for brunch on Sunday at about 11am. They were really busy so there weren't any tables available inside but we got sat right away outside. Someone came by to take our drink orders and came back with our drinks (including Chocolate Milk in a kid cup) before our server made it to us. The short delay allowed us to read over their huge menu. It was very difficult to decide with so many options. My husband went with his go to Huevos Rancheros and I had the Turkey Pesto Chicken Omelette. Both were delicious and came with either Potatoes or Hashbrowns, or you could upgrade to Fruit or Grits. They even have Raisin Bread as a bread option. The green sauce on the Rancheros was tasty. The service was extremely friendly and attentive. All of the staff were great. We discovered this little spot in a strip mall last year on Yelp. We were looking for an inexpensive hardy breakfast before going out to wine tastings. We enjoyed so much we went twice that visit and returned on this trip. The place is nothing fancy, just very tidy and clean. She serves the usual fare for breakfast- the hubby enjoys the large omelette and hash browns he gets for the price of a Starbucks. I like that you can get smaller portions- my single fluffy pancake and a sausage patty is plenty. Service is friendly and you coffee cup is never empty. We were looking for a cheap brunch place, while waiting for our hotel rooms to be ready. Scouring the yelps far and wide, we settled on Lita's due to proximity, pricing, and the menu seemed like it would appease all appetites that had an opinion. The menu is large enough and we ordered everything from omelettes to burgers to sandwiches. The crabcake on a roll was actually pretty good. I half expected it to be imitation crab and was quite surprised when it was real crab. It might have been frozen, but frozen beats imitation any day. The crab mix was a little watery, but it was still tasty enough for me to enjoy. The burger and omelette and crab benedicts satiated everybodys appetites at the table. At first we thought the sprouts smelled unpleasant because our noses are not used to cooked sprouts, so we gave it a few minutes until the food cooled off a little bit: The smell was unbearable. - My partner ordered an OJ which had a weird thick texture similar to vegetable glycerin, and it was as if it sat outside the fridge for 20 minutes before served. I'd like to give Lita's a 3 1/2; of course Yelp doesn't provide that option, so I'm leaning towards "A-OK". Clean, unpretentious cafe down the road from SRJC. Breakfast isn't fancy, but that's not what the place is about. Lita's serves up decent portions and adds some nice touches making it worth a try. My Better Half wanted pancakes for her birthday, so I was on the hunt for "best pancakes", which didn't surface any clear winners, but provided about a half-dozen places -- Lita's won the coin toss. So, an order of pancakes (for her), and an order of huevos rancheros (for me) were cooked for our enjoyment. So here's the tough part: presentation and overall sensory evaluation were "OK" -- nothing special. That said, they were cooked to perfection -- the pancakes were light,not doughy, although I wouldn't classify them as "fluffy" either. I ordered the huevos, served on (your choice of flour or) corn tortillas and pinto beans (not refried) with the eggs requested "over-medium" -- and the cook nailed it perfectly (no runny whites, and the yolk oozed out when you cut into it -- Yum!). A ladling of green tomatillo salsa with a dollop of sour cream and fresh guacamole completed the dish. So, while our taste buds weren't necessarily wowed, the cooking itself was flawless. Kudos for that. Will we return for a repeat visit? I wouldn't drive out of my way to have breakfast there again, but I wouldn't avoid it if I were in the area -- especially if Steele & Hops (nearby) wasn't open at the time. read more

We were there for mothers day, I did call a few days ahead to make reservations since it was a big group, however, there were a lot of people coming in and they were created and seated as fast as possible. They were also going around every table giving moms a rose on their special day, that was a great detail that made mom feel a little extra special, very much appreciated it. Didn't even eat the food because I couldn't get past the horrible customer service. Ordered for someone else through Doordash. The meal I ordered did not have an option for grits- which I know they have, so I clicked on hashbrowns and typed the substitution in the "special instructions" category. I even looked through their side options and grits was not there. I called to confirm and make sure they caught the sub and the person on the phone proceeded to tell me I could not do that because grits were $2 extra- which I would have no problem paying for. She insisted that it could not be done and I was basically out of luck. She was kind of rude, but I asked what I could do since it was not an option. She said hold on and then someone else got on the phone. This one insisted that grits was an option and talked to me like I was an idiot who couldn't read the menu. I insisted that it was not and that I thoroughly checked their DD menu. She must have checked because she back-tracked and said, "well, it's a new item so they could have overlooked putting it in there" (another lie- grits is not a new item there). However, she still refused to sub the grits and I told her to cancel the order. She got annoyed and said they already started it. I told her if $2 was that big of a deal to forget it. My gym partner and I decided to refuel ourselves with some grub at Litas's, after an early morning gym session. We were greeted promptly upon entering and were asked if we wanted water. We proceeded to order a orange juice ($1.60) and a Coco-Cola ($2.10). After 10 minutes of deliberation through Lita's expansive menu, I ordered the SOS and my buddy ordered the Crab Cake Eggs Benedict. My SOS ($7.95) was ground beef smothered with country gravy on top of your choice of toast and a side of eggs. I really liked the meal and thought it was cooked flawlessly. I would appreciate it more though if they added an other piece of toast, because two pieces just isn't enough for a grown man, such as myself. My buddy loved his Crab Cake Egg's Benedict ($10.95). I didn't take a bite out of it, but I trust his word. Service was attentive and the ambiance of the whole restaurant was really calming.
