The drinks here are delicious. I had the banana nut muffin the other day and it tasted so good that I had to get two more to go.

Bottom line: Really enjoyable first visit to Morning Ritual. This coffee shop/cafe served up a…read moretasty latte and Egg + Cheese Scramble to start my day off right. Helpful service in a nicely decorated small cafe, a nice stop for getting a morning going. The Deets: Deciding to venture out a bit to try some place new, I found Morning Ritual on the trusty Yelp app and headed off to there. It is joined along side The Goat restaurant on the edge of an apartment complex campus near Brier Creek. I like the look of the building and while noticing there is outside seating available, there is a convenient take out window on the side as well. I went inside and liked the warm, inviting but still slightly modern look of the cafe style seating and ordering area. There are a couple of seats within range of a power outlet and there is WiFi but note it is public/no password/unsecured access, it appears. Their menu shows a good array of beverages and eats to satisfy those morning needs. I decided on a 16 oz hot skim latte to drink to enjoy there and then ordered the Egg + Cheese Scramble which has Monterey Jack and Cheddar and served with one of their biscuits. You order and pay at the register/counter then they give you a table number to take to your seat. My beverage came in well enough time to enjoy while I waited on my food order. My latte was so good that I had no need for additions such as sweetener or syrups and I like the mug with it to enjoy in house. Food came in good time as well, looking pretty tempting. The toasted biscuit was good and I liked it but a tad small bit sweet for a Southern type biscuit (the type that I'm used to/grown up with enjoying). The scramble was really great...I usually do not favor getting cheese in my scrambled eggs but everything was delicious here and perfect texture as well as portion on the eggs themselves in a small cafe setting. There's always that challenge in a new coffee shop/cafe in figuring out their used dishes protocol/station but loved that my server saw me searching and happily took my dishes at the counter for me. I enjoyed this first visit to Morning Ritual and can see me visiting in the future, I like it.

The coffee was actually delicious. The service not so much!…read more To be fair I ordered my coffee with my breakfast at The Goat (the restaurant that Morning Ritual shares the building with) but the coffee is listed on The Goat's menu, so they need to get in sync. Our breakfast ended up coming out before coffee, which made no sense. I had to ask about the coffees before they were actually made. When the girl came from morning ritual She brought out my husbands, hot cappuccino but my mocha out iced and I immediately said I don't drink cold coffee and I did an order iced. Instead of being apologetic, and stating that she would change it, she just snatched the iced coffee and walked away. That was such a strange encounter. It was rude and I got no apology, nor did I get any explanation of what would happen next. I let my server know to ensure I was still going to get a coffee because I can't live without my coffee in the morning! When my Moca loved her honey, oat milk, coffee came I took a sip and was glad i didn't flip out and say "forget the coffee" (as I was already done with breakfast by the time in arrived) because the drink was delicious! If I'm ever back in the area (I was staying in Raleigh but decided to take a little detour into Durham that morning) I'll come to only Morning Ritual to see if I can change this 3 star review for service issues into a 5. For now they need to work on getting coffee service to The Goat streamlined!

"Order" signage wasn't immediately visible (lots of signage and product to look at on entry and zero employees spoke ) and a young woman working stared right at us and didn't say a word when we clearly were confused. She had RBF the entire time we were there, about 45 minutes. We asked what to do and the older woman working up front explained where the menus were and said that we ordered up front. She took our order and put her un-gloved hand directly inside one of our drink cups when getting it to make the drink. Ugh. We ordered and I inquired if the tater tots were gluten free and was told that they were. I hope so, but something I had for lunch has really upset my GI system. I had my burger on GF white loaf bread (no buns). We each had a burger, and they were delicious. So were the tots. The other person got mac & cheese as a side, which was deemed "ok" (a white version and judged by a mac & cheese lover). Overall, I would go back for the burger, but only if I took my own gf bun to use, or got it with no bun. The gf bread they use is that awful large sliced white bread that's not good except for toast, and certainly not good for burgers. The atmosphere/decor in the restaurant is cute, but they really need to do some staff training and cut that younger chick loose if she hates being there so much. Her whole attitude screamed, "Oh crap, customers."

We had about about 15 minute wait while they cleared some tables and then we were called to come back to be seated while we browsed the gift shop, which has a cool assortment of gifts, an adorable chatty parrot named Corky and farm equipment. Yup so much to choose from for sure. Once seated we all three quickly decided on the beef tips and for my two sides I chose mashed potatoes and bacon and broccoli salad. You also had your choice of butter for your roll, I picked cinnamon sugar. Within minutes we were served huge plates full of food. Everything looked incredible. With the first fork full I knew this was the perfect choice. Everything tasted incredible. The rich savoriness of the brown gravy with the absolute tenderness of the beef was mouthwatering. The rolls were so soft and fresh and with the cinnamon sugar butter it was pure heaven. Sadly I couldn't finish it all but that just means leftovers!!! Of course when we pulled up my Aunt had to laugh when I immediately pointed out they had a coffee shop as well, so I couldn't leave with an emotional support beverage for the ride back. We made our way upstaitd after my Aunt found her pickled beets in the pantry...um pass. Upstairs they have a cute coffee shop and more shopping. I ordered their specialty Butter Kiss Latte with Almond Milk l, iced and my Aunt got a hot latte. While Sage worked in preparing them I took a spin around the upstairs and then I came back and chatted with Sage while she finished up. She let me know if it wasn't sweet enough she could add a little more sweet for me. Upon first sip I knew this was buttery gold and plenty sweet. If you get a chance stop in for a beverage or better yet a meal, but remember on Fridays it's breakfast all day!

My aunt and cousin joined in on the fun, and it was my cousin's first time as well. Some in our party got the meatloaf, and exclaimed over how delicious it was. I got the parm chicken with rice, which was a little dried out and disappointing. Enter Yoder's cabbage and Dutch potato sides to save the day! Both were absolutely delicious! The cabbage was perfectly cooked and well-seasoned. I was delighted to find they were spicy, with visible red pepper flakes. The Dutch potatoes were creamy and cheesy...a new fave! The roll with the cinnamon butter was a treat indeed. And the tea? We like ours half & half...delivered in big cups with extra ice just the way we like it! I also got an English Toffee Latte to go...and it did not disappoint. Neither did the waitstaff, who were friendly, engaging and ensured our food was delivered with a smile. We left with slices of chocolate, coconut cream, and pecan caramel pie, a loaf of sourdough, and a mocha brownie treat for later. Ohhhh, and a ginormous cinnamon roll, cause why not?! The interior of Yoder's restaurant is a rustic place with a lovely shop to wander through while you wait to be seated. They have a lovely bird in the store that will sing you a song and tell you what the cat and the rooster say. So charming! All in all, I've been hearing about Yoder's for years and years...and it did not disappoint! Can't wait for a return visit!
