Perhaps the best Indian food I've had in the US. An unassuming place, on a side street in downtown. Kind and gracious service, that felt more like having a good meal with friends. Laidback and comfortable, this family run eatery serves excellent food. We started with a traditional appetizer. Mixed Pakora was simply delicious. A wonderful mix of shredded veggies light battered and fried golden brown. A great start. We also tried the Onions Bhaji and it is so good, tumeric spice lightly breaded gram flour and flash fried. Just prefection in fried onions. Sweet, savory, crunchy and a little salty. For my entree I opted for their Malabar Curry with chicken and jasmine rice. Incredible spices, and an amazing rich creamy coconut flavor with curry and mustard seeds. A well prepared portion served traditionally, with rice on the side. We also ordered their buttered Naan and Aloo Prantha and both were exceptional. I ordered lemonade, which they did not have plain lemonade so they made me a traditional lemon drink with spices and it was quite good, refreshing with a sweet, sour, salty twist to it. What truly separates this establishment from the others, the service. This is a whole family run eatery, and they take great pride in giving their guests an exceptional dining experience. We live in Raleigh and have a lot of selection and variety for Indian food. We saw this little gem online and are so glad we did! The restaurant was very clean and we were happy they were open later in a Sunday evening when everything else was closed. The owner/employees were very kind and always attentive to our needs. We ordered two different dishes and two different naans. The food was hot and delicious! The portions were plenty and provided left overs for the next day. We highly recommend Punjabi Tadka and will make sure we stop by again as we drive through this area several times a year! read more

The service was amazing, everyone was friendly and attentive. The food was just outstanding. The appetizers were some of the best I've ever had: the onion bhaji was life changing. We brought leftovers back to life in the air fryer and they were just as tasty. The portions and quality of ingredients were fantastic for the price: I ordered the mango chicken (great flavors, not too sweet) and my husband got lamb tikka masala- there was a lot of lamb in his serving. Being a transplant from CT where there is no end to quality restaurants this was a very happy surprise the first time we came. The quality punches well above what you would expect in this area. The service was outstanding and the food was definitely 5 out of 5 stars. The lunch buffet was a little mixture of vegetarian appetizer, butter naan bread, goat, chicken of your favorite dishes dessert and marsala tea. A little pricey but worth every bite.
