This place was cool and this review will be as short as my stay=). Stopped here randomly because I was being lazy and did not feel like cooking dinner. Kid wanted french fries so we stopped in here on the way home. I will say that if you are not looking, you will completely miss this place. It is tucked behind some trees in a random place off Old Dominion. When we pulled up, there was a couple outside; seated at the outdoor dining area. This would be nice for an outdoor lunch or quick date. Once inside, I could tell the place was about to close. There was someone at the register answering phones for last minute delivery orders. It took a while for someone to greet us but I suppose scavenging through their menu required the needed time. A guy popped out the side or back and asked if I was ready. I ordered a chicken tender and fries kids' meal and turkey wrap for myself (partially because I could see the woman making sandwiches) and sat down in the small inside seating area. I noticed it was clean but am not sure if that was because they were about to close. Took about 10 minutes for food to be prepared. Sandwich comes with chips and they have plenty of bottled drink options. Not too bad! read more

I've driven by the restaurant but never stopped in to eat until today. I ordered a slice of pepperoni pizza and the Italian sausage sub. The pizza is really greasy which was the drawback to it, but if you can get passed that the pizza has a buttery crust which I enjoyed. The flavor of the pizza was good especially after sprinkling on oregano and hot pepper flakes. I would have preferred more sauce on the pizza but overall a good pizza. The Italian sausage sub consists of the hoagie bread, sausage, green peppers, onions, tomato sauce, and a layer of melted cheese on top. It was then baked and came out hot. The bread was soft on the inside because of the sauce and the overall flavor of the sub was quite good. I would come back to check out their other items. read more

So I called and ordered a pizza for my bff who works in McLean. I live in Florida btw but omg the pizza came out beautiful !!!

17 minutes. That is their record, by about 2 minutes or so, of the fastest they have delivered an order I have called in. It is also the fastest anyone has ever delivered food that I've ordered by any method ever. The sandwich had clearly been assembled mere minutes after I called, the chicken cooked right then and there, and the whole thing thrown under a broiler without any delay. After that, it was clearly packaged and put into the car right away and delivered, contact-free, to my doorstep without any stops along the way. Listrani's is, to a T, McLean, and by extension my particular slice of the DC metropolitan area's ultimate "hometown" Italian carry-out establishment. Sure, nothing is overly fancy, but I've never had anything from there which turned out to be bad or sub-par in any way. Their subs and pasta are even noteworthy, I'd say, in flavor, amount, and ease of ordering. Oh, and did I mention they're fast? This is the kind of place all towns, suburbs, or unincorporated areas should aspire to have at least one of, preferably multiple. read more

I'm giving Listrani's 5 stars because I like their sandwiches so much. They use great bread and the hot sandwiches are topped with cheese and broiled. It's the kind of sandwich I crave every once in a while and nobody around here make it like they do. I recommend the meatball, chicken parm, and proscuitto/mozz sandwiches. The prices are good and they deliver quickly! The other menu items vary from average to good. Calzones are pretty good. The pizza crust is too salty, but pizzas are otherwise good. Soups and salads are just okay. The restaurant itself is really small. They do have a bit of seating but this is more of a takeout place. read more

I ordered them through GrubHub, so I've never actually been to the physical location. However, the food was pretty great. I had a Caesar salad for myself, my dad had a Margherita pizza, and my grandmother had a pepperoni pizza. When the delivery driver first got there, it turned out that they had forgotten to give him my salad, but it only took about ten minutes for another delivery driver to show up with it, so it wasn't a big deal at all. I didn't have any of the pepperoni pizza so I can't speak for that, but I had a couple of slices of the Margherita. It was good, but for some reason, I really didn't like the crust. Couldn't put a finger on why. Anyway, the salad was delicious, and the others enjoyed their pizza for the most part. (My dad felt his was a bit greasy, but it was just fine for me, so we'll just let his comment slide.) As a random aside, their delivery people are very kind, and that's a huge plus in my book. This is our new favorite pizza place! We have ordered already twice in one week. We haven't had chance to try other items on the menu but definitely in love with the pizza and the salad. When we get our pizza, it is hot, very cheesy, and with lots of toppings (not overwhelming!). Pizza dough is amazing too. It is not too chewy and even the crust is tasty. Salad is very fresh, packed in the container, and we absolutely love the house salad dressing!! It comes with bread which is really good on it's own. Service is amazing as well, quick and fast. I didn't see a lot of seating area inside but we were okay with that since we took the food for to-go. Definitely this is going to be one of our regular go-to restaurant from now on! read more

I got a large catering delivery from you this evening, approx. $625.75 worth of food (not including tip). Your "restaurant" was suggested by a co-worker so i figured it would be pretty decent. I couldn't have been more wrong. Here are a few of the issues with your food: 1. The food (although it was in a cambro) temped VERY cold. Not one of the entrees you delivered temped above 119 degrees. Base minimum for safe food handling is 140 degrees ( http://www.fsis.usda.gov/Factsheets/Basics_for_Handling_Food_Safely/index.asp ) Your location is less than 10 minutes away which means either you cooked the food earlier in the day and then re-heated it or your ovens are broken. Check Google maps if you don't believe me: https://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en 2.On your menu your meatballs say they're "homemade"...i would bet my truck that they're frozen meatballs SYSCO brand or CostCo...VERY bland, no seasoning and the middle of the 2nd meatball that i ate was frozen solid. 3. Chicken parm was god awful - huge pieces of dry flattened chicken w/no flavor swimming in canned tomato sauce - again, NOT homemade. 4.Baked ziti - sauce was very soupy, pasta was WAY overcooked and no flavor whatsoever. 5.Meat lasagna - had virtually no meat. Pasta was over cooked and the cheese was pure salt. 6.Ravioli trio - these were also from a frozen bag. No real flavor, over cooked again and the sauce was horrible. I could go on, but i'm sure you get the point. Billing your restaurant as an "Italian Gourmet & Pizzeria" establishment is hilarious...obviously I will not be ordering from you again. I call Listrani's "crack pizza" because it's just that addictive. My office orders Listrani's on a weekly basis for lunch. Our typical order includes specialty pies (BBQ chicken pizza margherita pizza, bacon/goat cheese pizza, artichoke red pepper pizza, etc), salads, and sometimes sandwiches. The BBQ chicken pizza is my favorite - with red onions, smoked mozzarella, chicken and a mild BBQ sauce. My favorite salad is turkey, apple, smoked mozzarella over romaine. They have a pesto salad dressing that's very good... The pizza is heavy and filling - almost in a bad way . . . but it's so darn tasty, you can't regret eating it! This is not a good place for eating in -- Delivery is the only way to go. read more

They deal primarily with take-out and deliveries and have limited seating, so I wouldn't suggest planning on eating there. Their food is great. I love everything here, especially their baked ziti (and a children's portion is plenty big for an adult but still pretend it's for your toddler!), fettuccine carbonara, (really, all the pasta dishes are awesome!), salads, and pizzas! 7/24/2012 I may not be certified to write about this place as I've only been there 2 times. Both times I ordered the same thing. Italian cold cut with side Cesar salad. I liked the crusty outside of the sub roll and the soft chewy inside. The meats taste fresh but the only drawback was...I'm used to hero sized Italian subs. The salad was fresh and nothing special about it. It was OK. They seem like they make good pasta dishes but I can't comment on that or the pizza. I will try the pizza one day and post an update.....UPDATE 9/5/13 OK the PIZZA is right on man. they have very fresh ingredients and they are good with the portion of toppings. We had a pizza party at work and ordered 10 boxes and they came hot and fresh. All enjoyed the pies and none were left after the party. Good Job Listrani. read more

Minestrone was great! Nothing novel or extraordinary, but just as expected and great for cold, winter, days. Bread was also very tasty. One complaint is the tiramisu tasted like it was taken straight out of the freezer (I could feel the ice in every bite), so that was disappointing. Overall pretty decent Italian food. My office ordered Listrani's for dinner and I think this'll be the last time. My coworker picked it up and commented on how nice they were to help her to the car with the bags and they did get the order correct. However, the food was sub-par. I had the fettuccine carbonara, which I'm sure wasn't carbonara at all. It was pasta topped with alfredo sauce with about as many onions as noodles. There was no hint of the traditional carbonara sauce made from eggs. The bacon and noodles were good, but overall the dish was disappointing. The breadsticks tasted burnt and were the consistency of croutons. The side house salad was good. Not real hard to make a salad, but it did have the end rind of the lettuce in it. I was excited to get a cannoli, but was disappointed with that as well. The filling was tasty, but the cookie was overcooked and flavorless, and the filling was only at the ends of the cannoli, leaving the middle completely empty. After eating, my other coworker joked that they should be renamed Listeria's. I've never lost weight from eating Italian, but tonight I did. (yes, that was a poop joke) read more

We are long time customers of Listranis. Usually very happy with what we order. Some days are better than others, today was not so good. I usually do not order pasta here, when I order pasta I usually order from another local restaurant because at Listranis the sauce has the texture and taste of sauce thats been on heat too long. When a sauce is on the heat too high and too long, it doesn't taste burnt, but way over cooked. Its all about how the sauce is managed. The other place we order from, never have we had sauce taste overcooked as it does here. And its not just Listranis, there are others that do this. The sauce still tastes good, but just does not taste fresh if you understand where I am coming from. Also my daughter loves the pizza here, she likes light sauce. They usually are on point with this, which is why she prefers pizza from Listranis. I am sure I said light sauce because the lady who took my order repeated it. There was nothing light sauce bout this pizza tonight. Now for positives. When we call to order. The lady who answers, she has been there for a while, I recognize her voice as taking my order usually when I call. She is quick, to the point in ordering, she asks you all the right questions and get the answers and your off the phone. She is always friendly, and very helpful. The other thing I like about ordering from Listranis, They usually quote 45-60 minutes, which is not unreasonable. I know when I call and they tell me this, about 75% of the time, its less than 30 minutes. Tonight, was in line with the 45-60 minutes which is ok, thats what they quoted. I did not eat anything tonight, just ordered for my family as I had to run errands. But I was told the food was not hot like it usually is, it was as I was told, just warm. They probably had other deliveries, think with the usual temp, we are one of the first deliveries, but this time, not so much. So normally I would give 4 stars, but because of the fact they did not get the pizza order right and the pasta my wife ordered was not that great, 3 stars. If this was my first time ordering here, I would have given 2 stars, but because we usually get good service, but not always, I am giving it a 3. As most of my fans (0) know, I am from the McLean va. Listranis is the best sandwich place in McLean. I go there on the daily. I order a chick parm, McLean lacrosse special, which grants you a drink and chips for 6.00$. First let me give you the background. Listranis makes their own bread. The yeast they use could be compared to a Phoenix, causing the bread to rise just as a Phoenix rises from the ashes. Absolutely brilliant. The chicken parm is the greatest sandwich in this planet. So I have reviewed the food which is A+. Now I will review the service which is an A+with some extra credit. The people there are so nice. Guess they were under pressure as the gal on the phone talked rapid fire and almost cut me off after my phone order and credit card before I could add a tip for the driver. Only ever had delivery from Listrani's, so I'm reviewing that. It *is* a bit pricey, but definitely worth it, for certain items. Here's what I've had: -4 cheese pizza (normally it's a white pizza, but we always had them add tomato sauce to it, an extra charge)-- DELICIOUS. it literally tastes like REALLY good lasagna, in pizza form. WARNING: it's REALLY garlicky (YUM) - Gorgonzola, Walnut & Raisin salad: good as is, but personally I think the walnuts should be "candied" or some other fruit (dried or fresh) should be used in place of the hard raisins. It's particularly good with "grilled portobella" added to it (again, additional charge) and the Raspberrry Vinaigrette dressing. - Salad w/ avocado, mushrooms, egg, etc (can't remember the name) it was ok. but *just* ok. skimpy portions of the "good stuff" on it (avocado, for example). -Grilled Veggie Pannini EXCELLENT flavor and texture. Even delivered, it was hot and --get this-- crispy! amazingly not soggy. However, the portions of the veggies inside are really pretty skimpy. It's better if you add grilled portabella mushrooms to it (but more expensive, too). - Mediterranean Linguine (Fresh tomato, fresh basil, artichoke hearts, fresh garlic & parmesan cheese tossed in extra virgin olive oil over linguine) -- surprisingly, and sadly, bland. VERY little of all the ingredients listed, other than the pasta and the oil. Would not order this again. Bottom line: the pizzas (mostly because of the really delicious dough/crust) and the paninnis are excellent. read more

Still waiting to try the pizza but the subs are great, good size, good rolls and good price. It also looks like they do a ton of lunch catering business from the offices in the area.
