Listermann is the best local place! Great beer, great company. Sunday Funday and Wednesday trivia (with Trivia with a Twist) are the best days! Can't wait for Renegade wings to be a regular staple! Say hi to Mike! He's the best! All in all, I'm in every week, I love it!! read more

Went to trivia at Listerman Wednesday night and had a good time. The host was funny the only thing better was the beer. I got a flight of Pinkies Out, Pac, Biggie and Buckeye Braggart. Pac was my favorite (an IPA) and Biggie was a close second (another IPA). Pinkies Out was really good, lighter beer. I did not care for Buckeye Braggart. It smelled like hazelnut and tasted like syrup. That was my first visit but I'll definitely go back soon. read more

Yes, I live in Cincinnati and I'm not a beer drinker. This has made me an outcast in certain circles. Oh, well. But working on a project I spent a couple hours at Listermann's first in one of their classes and then browsing their store. I will say I'm now tempted to be a beer drinker. What a wonderful group of people! Very friendly, knowledgeable and without the snob, condescension you get at some specialty places - music stores, computer stores, coffee houses, etc. They were very open and wanted to share what they knew about brewing. I learned a lot from the class and it's offered in a great place among their own vats in their shop. The store had all kinds of supplies and nothing seemed over priced or jacked up to take advantage of anyone. That was nice. It could use a bit of dusting but on the other hand it shows that the place is a working brewer. I didn't buy anything but I'm tempted...tempted. I was told to start with a Belgian Blond. Maybe this Saturday I'll make a buy. read more

I like Listermann. It's not nearly as crowded as some of the other breweries and their beers are pretty good. We went to their Octoberfest event last night and it was just right. Easy to park, good music, food trucks, medium sized crowd and tons of beers to taste. We're fans! read more

Beer good enough to buy a few bottles to pack home and share with friends! They've got some interesting stuff. Peanut Butter Porter. Fire Bacon Smoked Bock. Chickow! Hazelnut Double Brown Ale. Lots to try, so we got a sampler. The pricing makes it so that getting a full beer is a better deal, but if you want to try everything, you know your limits. We played some games while we drank our afternoon away. Found this spot via Yelp - what did we do before this?! read more

This was my first visit to Listermann which was a lot of fun. I love that they have Jenga, arcade games, and shuffle board for everyone to enjoy. We tried a variety of their beer selections from lagers to porters. My friends enjoyed the Peanut Butter Porter and I liked one of the lagers and cider. Being a Cincinnati native, it's always fun to check out the breweries in town and Listermann was just as fun as the rest! read more

I just love that the Xavier campus now has a gay brewery! I never felt so welcome and full of love! I have met all kinds of wonderful gay men at this place, and the beer is to boot! Yay!!!!! read more

This place is located directly across from Xavier's campus. $mart! They have got interesting beer choices. The best one is made with bacon. Yes, I said bacon. I have learned they get the flavor by smoking the malt. I stopped in since there was a huge craft beer festival tonight. The beers are only $5 and change and samples, which are pretty big, are just $1. They have a hazelnut nitro beer, it's good and creamy. The peanut butter stout was REALLY good too. They have a huge indoor drinking area. Great for students and all their friends since they have huge picnic tables! They also have ciders and wines. There are huge picnic tables and a big jenga game, which makes it a perfect place for very large groups and they don't have to maneuver the tables. This is a pretty cool place! read more

Tasty brews made by some serious beer geeks. The neighborhood is a little sketchy and taproom is quite simple but the beers are good and they people are great plus you cannot beat the prices. Stopped in for a couple of flights. $4 for 4 samples! The sweet ones were too much for me but several of the lighter beers were quite good and the black IPA was great! They brewery was talking about the beers and is was very interesting to hear. He was very passionate about craft. The other patrons were quite friendly and it was a great time overall. They are also putting in a tap room in the back with food. Will be back to check it out. read more

The beer and atmosphere is great and as expected for a craft brewery. Food, not so much but still ok.

This is becoming my fave secret brewery to grab a drink with friends. Older than the others, it's still quietly looked over by the weekend crowd as they flock to the tap rooms of the Queen City on the weekends. It's a much smaller space than the others, with a few picnic tables inside, some outdoor area on the sidewalk if the weather is nice, (and no food options), and the beer selection is great; you'll find brews that may not make it to bottles (Beet Beer over the summer). It's a beer drinker's tap room, and keeping to the Norwood roots, unpretentious and approachable. If you just want to sit and have a beer, you can; if you want to have a lengthy conversation about your home brew endeavors or the nuances of of your drink, there's room for that too. The home brewer's store is next door, and you can take drinks in there as well. I stopped in to buy a gift and the men working were super helpful in providing advice and wanting to offer assistance to the recipient. Parking is available in the lot at Idlewild & Dana, they frequently (I think) have food trucks on the weekends, but shhh...don't tell many people, because I love being able to walk in here on a weekend and grabbing a seat and being able to have a conversation with those I'm with without yelling, fighting for a table, or listening to cornhole bags thud. A great place to grab a drink with a friend or a casual first date (but be warned, you could possibly be the only people in there and feel like the staff are listening in...it's all good though.) I just wish there was a popcorn machine (at least) and/or food that could be delivered nearby (when food trucks aren't available). read more

I've lived in Norwood for HOW long and I haven't been to Listermann? It took finding a beer festival on their Facebook page for me to finally check them out (although I'll be honest, I didn't even know Listermann existed until recently since it's so tucked away on Dana), and it felt like I was late to a party. The space is teeny tiny with maybe four picnic tables and super casual, but go to the back room and you'll find cornhole boards and games -- kinda like a mini Rhinegeist. I will say the single reason I even walked through the doors was to taste their lager "Don't Talk S*** About Norwood" (but seriously... don't) and it didn't disappoint. They sure know their audience with a name like that! read more

This place consistently puts out amazing beers! Their flavors are so fresh and unique. Whether you like IPAs, stouts, ales, or sours there is always something delicious to try! The staff is always very friendly and helpful. It is a very chill, down to Earth place. Highly recommend getting a flight so you can try several of their beers. read more

I've loved every beer from this company during each of my visits they have a trivia night on Wednesday's and are always welcoming new selections and flavors. Appreciate the food truck style menu after a long day at work. So happy my friends introduced me to Listermanns! read more

We arrived on a Saturday, with a reservation for the 1pm tour. It was our first time here; I had bought the Tour/T shirt/Growler deal for 2. Upon arrival about 12:30 we stood around looking at things since the bar tender was busy with people at the bar. Eventually we made our way over to the bar for samples of all of the beers. They were all good, eventually we narrowed it down to 2 to fill our growlers with (Chockow & Jungle Honey). We checked out the supply store and took the interesting tour. We got lucky & were able to sample the Peanut Butter Porter - but it wasn't ready for sale yet. We'll be back for growler refills. read more

Very good beer - love the Nutcase peanut butter porter! Listermann is a bit hidden if you don't know where to look, across from Xavier University on Dana Ave. The taproom is nice. It's fairly small, but comfortable. I'm not sure if they don't have air conditioning inside, or if they chose to just do open-air at the particular event I attended, but it was fairly warm in the taproom (but it was also very busy because of the event, so that definitely attributed to the temperature. read more

I bought my first beer brewing kit from Listermann's and have been going to them ever since. It is a terrific local place where you can get pretty much any type of home brewing system and supplies you are looking for. From basic kits, to all-grain, to kegging as well as fresh grains, malts, hops and other essentials in the home brewer's arsenal. It is great to know there is a local place that you can get almost anything you need to make great beer/wine and there be a knowledgeable staff to help you with any questions you may have. Prices are fairly comparable as well if you price shop and consider getting your supplies online. It is still nice being able to support a local shop though. When the weather is nicer they even brew their own beers, which I'm very much looking forward to once it becomes available again. If you are a home brewer or are looking to get into the wonderful world of home brewing and are in the Cincinnati area, I highly recommend giving Listermann's a try. They will have everything you need (unless its the end of hop season, in which case they may be a bit low on some varieties). read more

A good place to waste some time while on the Xavier campus. Small and very barebones, it's all about the beer in this very simple tap room manned by some friendly brewers, and for $1 a sample (which are pretty large) you can try everything they have on tap in a short amount of time. My favorite was their peanut butter porter, which wasn't gimmicky but an actually good porter that finishes with a hint of peanut butter- delicious. Pro tip: check out the urinal, it's pretty sweet. read more

Love this place. It's great for a pre or post Xavier basketball beer or a random date with the wife. The beers are delicious and give a wide for variety. So no matter your preference, be it IPA or Kolsh, there is bound to be a Listerman's brew for you. Oh and the best part is that it's DOG FRIENDLY! read more

While I unfortunately have not had the time to try a beer quite yet, the food (and the kitchen staff) are absolutely WONDERFUL! The Gyro Burger is a must-have if you're in the area. They have many other good things on the menu too! Great atmosphere and very friendly people. A+ in my book. Definitely will be returning. read more

One of my favorite breweries in Cincinnati, and they're expanding the inside at a fast pace. The crew is always awesome when I'm there, no matter how busy it is, they never seem flustered or agitated with people. Very knowledgable about the beers offered there, too. The Nut Case Peanut Butter Porter is a favorite of mine, and occasionally they offer different variations of it. So far, the raspberry Nut Case has been the best [for me anyways!] read more

In a Hops craze, Listermann pulls the punches, and delivers to a dark beer lovers wish list! The PB Porter, Nutcase, Shamrock Shake, and Chickow all provide the malty, nutty, coffee, dark beer flavors, that distinguish man from hipster mentality that the U.S. has been leaning to in the recent years. Listermann is the best brewery in Cincinnati, and a nation wide contender! Thank you!!! read more

I'm guessing the inner circle of craft brewers in the Queen City would agree that Listermans produces some of the best and unique brews in the region. I'm also guessing that the owners, guests and general cultural participants at this unpretentious joint on Dana could care less. This place is special. Very special. Identity crisis in hand. Clash London Calling in playing in background. Cool dog chilling in the floor. 'Nuff said read more

My favorite brewery in town. They always have new beers on tap but my favorites are Friar Bacon and Nutcase. The staff is always friendly.

Dan and the rest of the LIstermann crew are fantastic! I've been going since 2006 mostly for the homebrew supplies (it's conveniently located near work), and have definitely enjoyed their excursion into brewing (Cincinnatus is a damn fine imperial stout). The staff is knowledgable and more than happy to answer all your brewing questions, and the selection of different grains (first time I saw crystal rye) / hops / yeasts is as good as it gets (only thing I'd like to see is some supply of foam control for those extra messy fermentations). read more

Beer and atmosphere are good. DO NOT GET A BURGER!!!! it was the smallest most burnt burger I have ever had. Better off going to McDonalds.

I really liked it here! My friends and I came for Disney trivia and we had a great time! With this being a smaller brewery, I was worried that they wouldn't have a cider, but they did! It was very crisp and refreshing but I can't remember the name of it. The bartenders were very friendly and enjoyed talking to people. The indoor space is a little small, but the tables are large and provide enough room to sit with a group. There's no AC, so it was HOT. They also serve food a few nights a week, but I thought it was just okay. This is a fun casual place to hang out, but I want to wait for a cooler day to come back. read more

Great beer decent taproom patio is ok maybe add some music or some type of atmosphere outside

Finally made it back here after far too long and loved the changes! This is for sure going to be a favorite now with the games, table tennis, jenga, shuffleboard and cold brews. Kid and dog friendly = A+ hangout! Only weird thing is the beers served in plastic cups! read more

Yesterday was my second visit to Listermann's. We were in the area, and I wanted to get something brewing. Visited my favorite website for my shopping list and suggested we swing by Listermann. I showed my wife around, and she called out the list as I measured it out. Between the two of us, I had all the ingredients in the bag and out the door within 15 minutes. The folks working there are super helpful if you ask, but will leave you alone if you look like you know what you're doing. While it was early, we didn't venture to the bar side of the house - once you get started over there, it's easy to make a day of it! The last time I visited, though, I tried a flight and wound up taking a growler of the Pale Ale (which also lasted just about 15 minutes once we opened it at the house!) Not much to look at on the outside, to be fair, pretty basic on the inside...But huge selection and awesome pricing on the grains, hops & yeasts...Man, I Love this place! read more

Fantastic place, the food was delicious! It is limited on space in the tap room so get friendly with your neighbor!

Tired of how crowded Mad Tree and Rheingiest have become? Come on down to the Norhood and grab a pint at this great little tap room! The reason why I give this place 2 stars in 2 reasons. Number one, their brew-tenders are snobby and think their beers are the greatest in the city. Number two, their beer is served in plastic cups. Respect all breweries around town. Don't just be a snobby brewery serving craft beer in plastic cups. Don't normally give bad ratings, but this brewery deserves one. read more

I've finally gotten around to reviewing this place. As a wine maker, I find it amazing to have a local knowledgeable source to get equipment and hard to source items. They teach classes and sell books related to brewing and fermentation and they sell pressed Italian grape juice annually for those who don't have access to grapes to crush. I ordered 6 gallons! I'm sure they have some kits for the more apprehensive "maker". All of the beers in the tap room are pretty good and I typically do a flight because I can't ever settle on one beer. It's a great meeting space for impromptu forums and random discussions about processes and I always run into a familiar face. Being so close to the university you'd think there would be a bunch of College kids in there but that's not the case.. It's a laid back atmosphere and they usually have a food truck outside if you get the munchies. It's easy to spend a lot of money fairly quickly if you leave the tap room. I've spent $200 in the last two weeks just trying to get prepared for some newly arrived Californian grapes. I'd encourage folks to support this place because it really does foster the DIY spirit and they make good beer! read more

I have always enjoyed Listermann beers over the past few years, but it wasn't until I moved near by that I truly appreciated what they are doing. Listermann has been around for along time, and you'll find Chickow and the Nutcase porter all over town, but they have some other really great beers in their brew pub. They make a mean IPA that rivals other popular ones and they have a killer stout with the Ceaso stout (and if you're lucky, they will have it on nitro). They make some fun flavors too, like the Kiwi sour and the Lemon pound cake. They recently renovated the bar area, so the bar itself is huge and the amount of beers they have on tap has grown. I am really looking forward to when they get the kitchen finished up for Renegade, that's going to be an awesome team. All the employees are awesome and will help you find a beer you like. If you are not a huge beer drinker, they also make wine there and have a few bottles for you to try. A big plus for me too, is that they are dog friendly. They keep a water bowl filled and they usually have a treat or two for your pups. read more

I have been going to Listermann's Brewing and wine making supply store for years and have spent a lot of money in that store ( I drive over an hour and pass many supply stores on the way) I have a concealed carry license and I carry to make a long story short the owner today made the decision that he will put a no carry sign up on the doors ( his decision ) and told me that he could run his business without me buying supplies from him.... so on that note he does not want any of us that carry at his store....good place to go till now but sorry I will not go back where I am not wanted..... read more

I would say the time I went I enjoyed myself. Was shocked to see Xavier people working their for allegedly the owners have more allegiance to UC and used to have the place decked on in UC swag. I was outdone on the disrespect since they're across from X and I'm sure a nice amount of their revenue comes from Xavier students. Went there late April when another horrendous flood took place and while there flooding took place. Love the ambiance of the place. They're very accommodating here. Pets can come for they were there when our epic delegation entered. Was shocked to see one young, couple bring in their new born (who's quite a good baby for it was quite when nothing but noise was present). They have a jumbo Jenja to play as well as additional primetime arcade games. read more

This review is not for the beer (as it is excellent) but for the taproom employee who made my husband and I feel very unwelcome. We visited on a Saturday afternoon to pick up a couple of growlers for a baby shower. While waiting for them to be filled, we decided to have a pint. As previous reviewers have stated, the taproom is small, and populated with picnic tables. Customers are expected to navigate seating for their group. If it's busy, strangers will sit together, no big whoop. Because it wasn't busy, my husband and I lucked into sitting at a table with only one other person, an older gentleman who had come to purchase home brewery supplies and was also sampling some of their excellent product.. We were chatting pleasantly, when a middle-aged female barkeep with short hair interrupted to ask us to move for a larger group. Yep. She kicked us out of our spot so a party of five could sit down, forcing my husband and I, and the older gentleman, to stand, sipping our beers in the corner. What the what? I was so surprised by the outrageous request that I dumbly moved without protesting, and stood, sipping on my beer for another twenty minutes before we left, watching the comfy party of five enjoy their spacious seating. Who is this woman, and why does she think it's appropriate, EVER, to police who sits where? We will not be back. read more
