What I asked for: I had a consultation with April and showed her multiple reference photos, including examples of her own work. I specifically requested a soft V-shape, full perimeter, long cascading/blended layers, and curtain bangs. My hair was extremely long, reaching the top of my glutes. What I got: The V-shape I requested is essentially nonexistent, the layers don't have the soft, blended look I asked for, and significant length was removed without communicating that to me beforehand. The curtain bangs were also not cut in a way that allows me to style them as intended, even after trying rollers, a round brush, and products. Customer service: I first contacted the owner, who directed me back to April because the stylists work independently. April apologized and offered to have me come back with my hair already straightened so she could make additional cuts and adjustments. I no longer felt comfortable having her cut my hair again or risking losing more length, so I requested a $70 refund instead. After I requested the refund, April stopped responding. It has now been 2 weeks. I had to spend additional money to find another stylist to assess at correcting the haircut. Buyer beware. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise others to think twice before booking with April or this salon.

Luckily, I came across Envee Hair Studio and Spa on Thumbtack and I was really pleased with the pricing and services offered (it was cheaper to hire them and pay for their gas to get to Tahoe than it was to hire someone in Tahoe). Contacting them was easy and pleasant. We scheduled a trial run the day before my wedding and they were so professional and friendly. Nichole did my hair and Lindsey did my makeup. They were really easy to communicate with and so it was easy for me to tell them whether I liked something or not. For Nichole, I had a reference picture of how I wanted my hair done. She did a fantastic job of giving my hair the curls and volume that I wanted (I loved how it looked with my veil and tiara). I did not have a reference for Lindsey (as I don't wear makeup often), but she did a good job of giving me a natural, but flawless look (my skin looked fantastic). On the day of my wedding, they arrived promptly and got to work. They also did the hair and makeup for my mom, two little sisters, mother-in-law, and sister-in-law. Despite having to do all those people, they got everyone done early and the results were beautiful. We asked the stylist to cut about 4 inches and add some layering to take some weight off. The stylist spent about 10 minutes on her hair. She did not take the time to shampoo her. She did not add the layers we asked for. Before we left I checked the cut and noticed that it was boxy and very uneven. I asked them to fix it and the lady used electric hair clippers on the ends. I was unhappy with the end result and left because at this point they were butchering my poor little girls hair. The stylist said that her hair was hard to cut because it 'was too straight', and that it would 'calm down in a few days'. Once we were home I saw just how bad the cut really was. I called and ask to speak with the manager. I don't think that's who I spoke with, but when I voiced my frustrations she backed her employee and said that straight hair is hard to cut...and she did not offer me my money back. At this point I feel like they stole money from me since I couldn't let my child walk around with her hair as crooked and boxy as it was. I am fortunate to know Natalie at My Salon and she was able to fix my daughter's hair. Please look at the photo so you can see the difference between a hack job and a professional cut. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. If the manager ever reads this and wants to make things right, feel free to look me up.
