The train is dated and can use some new equipment and furnishings. So I don't arrive in style, but I do arrive in time to watch the puck drop at MSG.

It's also one of the only LIRR stations in NYC with a crossing, so don't be running rate if you're catching a train on the other side of the platform. Purchase your ticket ahead of time. There's no indoor waiting area and there's only one shelter, but the platforms rarely get crowded, so it only really matters if it's super cold outside. There's also a decent-sized parking lot with a cab service (wouldn't recommend the latter unless you're in a hurry or the Q36 isn't running). Speaking of that 36, it used to wait for the Queens-bound trains to arrive during the evening rush. Don't know if it still does. The surrounding area is safe, so there's no need to have anxiety taking a train here at night. There's really nothing around the station except a little deli where you can grab a quick sandwich or drink before you depart.

If you're running late it is highly likely you will miss your train unless you're already on the platform and can run up the stairs and down quickly. Be sure to leave enough time to buy tickets if you do not have any as the machines are located by the entrance of the parking lot which is on the East bound side.. there is one machine also located across on the west bound side. Parking lot has a fee for the weekdays but weekends it is free.

Great Neck is one of the last stops before you get into the real meat of New York City. It's like a bridge between worlds. It feels more like NYC (far out Queens) than Long Island to me, but what do I know. Besides, Queens is technically on Long Island. Speaking of Long. But anyway. The station is pretty average. It doesn't get as busy as some of the others. Much like my Aunt.

It only takes an extra minute to stop at both during off peak hours, so this is just an inconvenience to local residents - as if the high price of commuting to Manhattan isn't enough!

As it stands, because the tracks are elevated, you're going to feel the full brunt of the weather in the Summer and Winter. Minor inconveniences aside, this is still a decent station.

On Labor Day Monday, I took the Hampton Luxury Liner from Manhattan to Montauk. I thought the bus…read morewas going to be full since it was a holiday. It was empty. Excluding me and the driver, there were about 10 passengers. I had two seats to myself. And speaking of seats, they were very comfortable. There was decent legroom (I'm 6'1"). Initially, I couldn't find the outlet. I eventually discovered that it' was hidden under the seat. And unlike the Hampton Jitney, the bus wasn't covered with a tacky looking wrapping. The bus left Manhattan at 1 PM. It was scheduled to arrive at Montauk at 4:15 PM. It arrived at 3:28. And with that said, the ride was far from perfect. The bus was as bumpy as a school bus. It was pure torture. The driver seemed like he didn't want to be bothered. He wasn't mean, just apathetic. Other than checking in people and announcing the stops in a soft voice, he said nothing. I paid $34 which is reasonable. The Luxury Liner doesn't run nearly as frequently as the Jitney or LIRR Montauk branch. Furthermore, you don't get the VIP treatment like on the Hampton Ambassador. If you're looking for a no frills experience and you don't care about comfort then the Luxury Liner is ideal.

Between the crowds, long lines, confusing areas, & all the construction happening throughout the airport, it was just a lot to deal w/. The renovations def made things even more hectic. There's construction going on throughout different parts of the airport, so getting around wasn't always easy. On top of that, I was really disappointed to see that the disability/accessibility line was the same as the regular line. If you have a disability, you're basically stuck waiting in the same long line as everyone else, which can be extremely difficult. This was honestly such a frustrating experience for me. I've flown out of plenty of airports & have never felt this overwhelmed by the process. JFK was just too chaotic for me, & unfortunately, I don't see myself flying out of here again.
